Since it’s one of Mancini’s most recognized pieces and the part Williams did is the most recognized part of it, Mancini was basically saying, “You created the most recognized part of that piece.” Awesome tribute to Williams from Mancini.

Williams didn't "create" the most recognizable part. Not to downplay his contribution, but he only played it. Mancini still was the brains behind that piece.

You got that straight Jack! Superman theme, Peter Gunn and on and on and ....These 2 guys are the greatest, it's like Ali and Joe Louis, Wilt Chamberlain , Bill Russell, The Babe and Hammering Hank..two GIANTS !!!!!!

Both Mancini and Williams composed themes to NBC News programs, mainly for NBC Nightly News. Mancini composed the 1977-1982 Nightly News theme for John Chancellor & David Brinkley; he also composed the "Decision year" election theme. But, the 1 we're most familiar with is "THE MISSION" from Williams: 1st version was for Tom Brokaw; the 2nd version is for Brian Williams, which we hear every night.

How funny can you get. I just turned off PBS to log on here after hearing the intro to Great Performances which John Williams wrote and Peter Gunn and Mr Lucky amongst many others from H Mancini on my playlist. This thing can read your mind. Dah.

***** there is the whole thing ! just look at my williams playlists, there are just separated in chapter, due to the limit of youtube several years ago, which was 15 minutes only. and if i put the whole show, if youtube delete it, we'll lost everything. with each chapter seperated, if youtube close, one or two things from time to time, not everything is lost, it will takea longer time until everything will be "deleted" and "forbidden".
