Heng's Vortex II RV Vent Fan - Why it may be the best choice for your vent upgrade.
Here's why Heng's Vortex II may be the best choice to upgrade your RV's vent fan and what's involved in a typical installation.
Many RV ceiling vents come with a comically small, poorly-performing fan. Numerous upgrade options exist, but most of those require removal of the existing roof vent, with the need to disturb the roof lining and reseal the new vent.
While it can't match the airflow ratings of complete replacements, Heng's less expensive Vortex II fits the roof vent that's there already, while providing appreciably better airflow than the stock fan. Or does it? We test that out, but don't worry - no science was harmed in the process!

Recognizing this is an older video I still wanted to thank your for posting it. After watching it I still think I am going to order and install the MaxxAir.
Good video. Wish I saw this before installing one of these. FYI, two years later, that sound never goes away...
I installed the heng vortex II last year because it could be installed from inside without having to remove our max air weather covers. The installation was pretty easy. The fan was a little load, but did the job.
I'm looking to do the same with mine. I would think my first concern would be finding a fan assy. with exact dimensions as the opening. Don't think you covered that. On a side note; my previous camper had the primo fan assy like you just installed. It would move so much air that it would pull the foul odor from the camper waste tanks into the camper. Solved that issue by opening a window or another vent.
What about the big gap where the screen attaches? There are three tabs but when you lock them in place there is a gap big enough for any bugs to get in- looks like a design flaw…
Great review! I have an 8x16 with just a crank vent - wonder if this would fit the bill? Thank you for posting! New Sub!
Is that a 2017 forest river viking 17FQ?
I have a vent with no fan but 12V power right next to it. Anyone know if this would work for me?
