This is only a FUN and very informal dance contest, not to be taken too seriously. PLEASE don't put nasty hurtful comments about the standard of dancers, on any of my jive contest videos as they will be deleted. Thanks for your understanding. There are lots of different styles of jive and just because you may or may not like them, it does not mean they are bad. They are simply 'different'.

in the late 70's/80's i was a ted/rockabilly and still love the music and the dancing is still great to watch

miss dancing jive. used to before I got married just thought my wife would want to learn but never got around cause she hated my grease hair and cuff jeans. so I had to leave this behind and change my style. Happy wife Happy life... not this year. after 6 years with her I'm going back to dancing jive. she can join me or stay home. thanks for this inspiration video ...

excellent dancing, they move well together, my wife and i dance in our own style, not taught just picked it up as we went along.
NOT SURE ABOUT THE FOOT WORK SEEN A LOT BETTER BUT THEIR HAVIN FUN

Those two were very good dancers indeed. I enjoyed the clip. It was not a professional competition and the couple have nothing about which to feel bad.

You're absolutely right! People who do lindy hopping aren't into the music, they've all been to dance school and all do the same over rehearsed steps.

@GatorshoesBop This is freestyle jiving. There are lots of jive styles around, always led by the man. No matter what syle of jiving the man does, the lady should be able to follow provided the man's lead is very good and clear and strong (but never rough).

No disrespect intended as these two are ok at what they do, but the Hemsby competition has certainly gone downhill in talent.

There are countless really great dancers who never bother to enter competitions. I guess it is because they don't feel the need, as they have nothing to prove to others. This is a 'generalised' comment regarding all kinds of dance contests, and not aimed at any specific individuals/venues.
I dance both, both are good, jive came out of lindy anyway and if you ever actually get anywhere in lindy you find it's really fluid and free-style, just the steps aren't as simple, there's more things you can do in lindy.

Speaking about footwork .. is it a "freestyle" footwork from the lead or all guys in UK learned that way ?
Its as it should be !! Not this poncing stuff you get in ballroom jiving etc..

I'm guessing you have never won a jive contest either. The winners dance is really hard. Because you just got done winning. Props to the winners.

have won jive contests & also instructed(too old now) this type of dancing we used to call bopping,if you want to see jive look at Thomas & alice
