Nick's client was told this engine was a stroker when he bought it, but it turned out to be stock displacement. Nick built it right, and now it is time to find out what it makes on the dyno. PLUS three different carbs get a go on this classic mopar.

My Wife and I had a blast hanging out at Nicks Garage, not only meeting Nick and George, but watching them work together; what a team! I really enjoyed looking around the shop, but especially spending time in the Dino Room while Nick fired up the 360 Stroker for the First couple of pulls! But the thing we enjoyed the most was spending time with Nick and George, and even though we just met it was really more like being with old friends! Guys, thanks again for the warm welcome; Nicks Garage was the best part of our trip to Montreal! Take care, and God Bless!!! Rod and Irma

I built one years ago, 360 with J heads and mopars 509 purple shaft, lifter valley pan & and crank Windsor tray, 850 cfm , 727 torque flight . 3000 stall , 3:90sss gears and from stop light to stop light it was a quick engine but from a 45mhp start it was a monster. Loved that engine. Was basically maintenance free for years just oil changes.

I built mine with a 340 block, .030" over and 4" SCAT crankshaft (416 cubic inches), back in 2001. Using Edelbrock heads with upgraded dual valvesprings and a Ultradyne .590" lift flat tappet solid lifter cam, it made 525HP on pump gas. Very streetable, with 1-3/4" Hooker headers and a M1 intake using a 750 AED Holley. The 4" crank really makes big-block torque at a reasonable RPM from a SB MoPar!! Mine was basically done making power at 6200rpm although it would rev to 7200(+?).

I built a 360 way back in 2000 with Edelbrock heads and a hot street/street cam and it made 449 horsepower and 453 pound-feet. I built a similar one shortly after with a roller cam, which made 474 horsepower. That's pretty typical of pushrod V-8s of similar displacement from the era, regardless of brand. The newer engines (LS, Coyote, Gen III Hemi) make so much more power for their given displacement because their cylinder heads are so much better and they rev higher. (Horsepower is function of torque and RPM.)

Depends on what you're using the engine for - for the most part a vac' secondary will be the best option, but there will be times the DP is going to rule. What's more important is the carb' sizing and setting up. NOTE, Nick actually pointed out it was running "very rich" on the vac' carbie, and wasn't going to correct it, so by no means a fair test.

In the early 90s I had a customer with a 396” stroker 360. It would run mid 11s in his Fast Fish E body Cuda. It was in my shop to troubleshoot an issue that turned out to be an amazingly stupid engine builder issue. A “name” Mopar specialist here in Atlanta had taken a die grinder to the bore of the Fluidamper so it would slip onto the crank snout 🤯. I talked to Fluidamper and they sent out a custom “go/no go” gauge to verify the dia of the snout which was dead on the Mopar spec. The owner bought a new Fluidamper which I installed with my Bluepoint installer and all was well.

Let me clarify the double feed carb gets more fuel to the rear bowl after that nothing. Everything at that point is in the metering block ,power valve , the jets and the Venturi design and flow. Not the tiny momentary squirt from any accelerator pump, that is to richen the initial crack of the throttle. (Slightly rich) is great when pulling up to speed , but not great while cruising. There are cfm formulas to figure exactly the size you need.

I think the 770 is alright carburetor for it just the fine-tuning maybe a spacer between the intake and the carburetor will help

Always loved small blocks making big block numbers, thats the way ive always went with my cars, why have all that nose weight if you dont have to right? However, i would like to see a 400 low deck with hemi crank and rods, special keith black pistons and 65 cc aluminum heads done at your shop Nick, i think you might be surpised at the horsepower this combination can make. There was an old hot rod or mopar muscle article written on this build and they got 900 naturaly aspirated horsepower from that combo, needless to say i was quite impreseed! Great job with the LA 360 though, its making tons of power for a little light weight A body car, should be lots of fun if he can keep rear tires on it!😂😂😂😂😈

Thank you sooo much Mr Nick. I've come to realize that the English language is one of the worlds' most difficult language to master. Thank you for trying sir. So I'm sure it can be difficult for you and that if I spoke French to you, (if I could), It would be bad at best. So out of love and respect for your/our passion for engine tech and learning, I apologize for being a bit harsh previously. cheers🇨🇦🏁👏 👏P.S. In my opinion, I'd go with the 770, only because it's the cheapest option and there's very little performance differential. The only other consideration would be economy.

I didn't see a build video of this engine, would be nice to know what heads other than just Edelbrock and what cam is in the engine. Idle sounds pretty smooth, what vacuum did it pull? Over 400lbft at 2800 may well be a good engine to duplicate and put in my truck. Can we get some info Nick?
