My favourite part of Flora day 🤗
Love it! Modern folk lore created from nothing without any historical tradition. Just as good for all that. I adore the fact that tourists including those from foreign shores will be totally taken in in believing this is something remotely genuine! Looks like great fun.

Not just the tourists but the people of Helston also. I bet if you asked the locals how old this 'enactment' of the Hal-an-Tow song was they would say it is 'pagan' - it actually dates from 1930. The song, however, dates from at least 1790. But yes, it is all great fun.
