Helsinki Travel Guide
Our Helsinki Travel Guide! What an absolutely stunning city, even if the weather was particularly frigid. Helsinki in Finland is captivating on so many levels. It's location on the Gulf of Finland is breathtaking. Helsinki has so much to offer all year round. The Finnish food on offer in Helsinki is breathtaking too. All so fresh, comforting, and interesting. I'm amazed it's taken us this long to cover Helsinki and Finland but I'm so glad we finally had the chance to bring you this beautiful Nordic city.

I've been wanting a Helsinki video for ages. I was there in September and I'm firmly of the opinion that it is one of Europe's most underrated cities. Leaving was hard!
I don’t believe I’m in the minority when I say this but Alex, you are by far the best travel “host” on KZread. Your personality is just outstanding and I also really enjoy the fantastic filming and editing by your team…appreciate you all!!!

Ha! It was YOU who I referenced in the episode!
This is such a beautiful video of Helsinki, thank you - and we hope to see you back again soon! :o)
Only ever passed through Helsinki airport. Love the chill vibes of bird song in the loos. Lounge is good there.

Thanks so much! Next one coming soon!
Fabulous video as always, and now another city on my list to visit. You are partially responsible for a list that never seems to shorten, despite my traveling as much as possible - not complaining though! Oh, the one missing scene was of you and Greg also becoming Knights of the Sauna. Now, that we needed!
Helsinki Looks Awesome!!
Thank you for an awesome video! Will definitely visit Helsinki in the near future!

I can definitely recommend it!
Finally, my city ! I do wish you would've delved in about things to see and do. The transportation breakdown was good and funny enough, even the ready made salmon soup at the grocery store is delicious :D

We tend to steer away from activities and sights, otherwise the eps would be hours long. But please tell us what we should absolutely see when visiting your beautiful city!
Nicely hosted and produced as always. Been looking towards this since you chose Helsinki over Lisbon. Helsinki can be tricky to make a film about because tourists always go to the same friggin' places and do the same things, such as salmon soup at Kauppahalli, which you fell for. Unconventional and personal time to visit. I'd also suggest late May-early June when the city turns lush and green and people come alive. Public transport is ace and most tourists only need the AB-zone ticket as the city is very walkable just for the architecture and parks. Single tickets cost 2.95€ and are valid for 80mins. The HSL app has a great map. Just feed in where you want to start (at my current location?) and where you want to go. The app covers alla forms of transport and walking to the minute. Anyway. Nicely done. -Person living in Helsinki, but not Helsinkian

Hello from Germany, Coffee in Germany between 3 to 5€ / Beer 4 to 10€ / McDonalds Big Mac 5,49€ … life is expensive too ✌🏻😉 But i heard a lot of times Scandinavia is very expensive
As winter is approaching, it is nice to see a region of the world that has made winter living an artform. Thank you.

I watch a lot of KZread travel channels and this is one of the best. I’ll be in Helsinki this July.
Yeah! Heading back to Helsinki this May. Great guide.
A great video guys - love the content.
I'm hoping to study here soon! By the way, my Grandfather is also a Knight of the Sauna!
I just discovered this channel. It's so well made! So elegant! 👏 Bravo
Attache! We just visited Helsinki and did everything you suggested! I will say you have the best travel videos on KZread!
i was there last summer. Did the archipalego boat tour for €25. Walked around the city centre a little. Im glad i did it, but i dont think ill visit helsinki anytime soon. There're just better options in europe with better budget, even estonia/tallinn just a ferry across, is soooo much better to the bang

Police officers don't check your tickets. 😅The ticket inspectors do wear uniforms that can slightly look like police uniforms, but they're not. If you saw police officers on a public transport it would be because someone called them, but even that is rare, more often than not it'll be security guards that take care of disorderly people.
Thanks!

Ha! I walked right into that one.
Places you visted in video are like 1.5x1km area. Very typical for tourism in Helsinki. I wish there was more visits to the old town area, with old villas, parks, horses, there and sheep island. Wooden areas in Vallila, Toukola and Käpylä. Or with metro visiting Tapiola to see some different architecture and layout and visit the Emma. The great brutalism in Merihaka or Pasila. Or community sauna or bar or the one og in Sörnäinen sauna rather than those fancy boxes made for rich tourists who want sauna experience. Theres so much more in helsinki than just the market square and its surroundings.

You know, this is fair. While we tend to aim our content at visitors to cities, our goal is also to highlight parts of cities that visitors might not frequent but SHOULD. So you're right to call me out on this. We'll work harder on this angle.

There's a movie to be made here.
I find it quite amusing that you say karjalanpiiraka is not pronouncable but can easily say karalian pie which is pretty close, and said Salmiakki quite well.. Many other travel vloggers attempt to use our language and it is always appreciated, even for those with worst pronounciation. It is almost rude/entitled of you to just assume it is impossible and not even try/laugh it off.
4,95€ for a Big Mac? Folks this is cheaper than in Germany (5,49€). 😂 As always, great video!

Noooo, don't shit on the cruises! Cruises to Stockholm and Tallinn are the quintessential trips for Finns.
@Attachetravel
5 ай бұрын
Are those cruises, though? Not just ferries?
@lllluka
5 ай бұрын
@@Attachetravel The ships to Tallinn are more so ferries, even though they're operated on ships that look like cruise ships. They have restaurants and shopping, but the trip is only a couple hours. The ships to Stockholm on the other hand are full-on cruises. A one-way trip is overnight. The ships have rooms, restaurants, bars, clubs, children's play areas, shops, casinos, spas, you name it.
@Tuukkohakee

@@AttachetravelCruise ferries eh 😅? They are a mix of both, on the Stockholm route more cruise like while on the Tallinn route more like Ferries. Some of the ferries on the stockholm route have promanades and all that, but of course not close to the worlds best cruise ships.
@maplehill1416

@@Attachetravel The ship on your video, Silja Serenade or Symphony (identical twins), is basically a prototype for all modern cruise ships. With its (then a new idea) central promenade, built in the 90s. So it is a cruise ship used as a ferry, I guess😅

I am from Helsinki and I really think that you ciukd have done better. This video is so inaccurate and leaves us in the middle of the ocean of questions. Your articulation is lacking incorrect information. I'll be reporting the video for sharing false information. Delete it!! Sincerly, Taneli K.
Is that Cold War history really necessary in the introduction part? Do you have to so implicitly state your political opinion in a travel video nowadays? Why not mention that Finland was working with nazi Germany?
@henris9547
5 ай бұрын
Well if you bring up Nazi Germany then why not also mention that the West didn't want to help Finland fight the Soviets in the first place when the country asked and begged for help against the Russian invasion? Also why not mention that Nazi Germany was able to start the 2nd World War in the first place because Soviet Union and Nazi Germany had made a pact to divide Europe between the Soviets and Nazi Germany? They were allies. Please read your history before jumping into conclusions
