Help! My objects are not coplanar in AutoCAD?
Occasionally you will get an error that informs you that your objects are non-coplanar. This means they are not in the same plane. This video goes explains what that means and how to fix it.

Thanks a ton for saving my time! Really appreciate it!!!
Thanks that worked, i knew how to do it on much older cad, but this new version I'm learning, commands are different, in the old cad you typed properties or just P, then E for elevation and set to 0, and it was done, now you have to go through the properties menu.

Great tips! But what about encountering this elevation issue with SPLINES? I am stumped.
@youcandraft
2 жыл бұрын
If all the nodes of the SPLINE are the same elevation I would recommend simply moving to the correct elevation. SPLINES are tedious because you need to select each "fit point" in the properties window and adjust the Z coordinate.
Thanks bro!

How do i do it for 3d faces in the plans and also in my text position z is not pressable
@youcandraft
3 жыл бұрын
For the text, edit the value for "Text alignment Z." For 3D faces it's a little trickier. You have to edit the Z value of each vertex. You can select each vertex from the properties window when selecting your 3D face.
This helped me out a great deal but have one more huge mystery, after getting all of my lines, circles, text, hatch etc into plane Z, I have dimensions that are now NOT in plane Z and I tried going through those properties but can't figure out how to force the dimensions back into the Z plane??? Any advice there?

Unfortunately dimensions don't have Z values. Dimensions are created based on the current UCS. Most of the time this is set to the default WCS at 0,0,0, but if your UCS is set to another elevation, say 100 feet, then your dimensions will be drawn at that elevation. The only way to get them back to the 0 elevation is to manually move them.

@@youcandraft That's what I was afraid of, as many as I have it may be quicker to just dimension the 0 plane lines now that I have them all located at one level now. Thanks a LOT on the quick response!!!
Graciassssss!
This problem seems to appear in CAD quite often over the years in every firm I have worked in. Checking the properties command still shows that the Z coordinates are both set at ZERO, yet the non-coplanar issue still persists. Still unable to correct the issue.

It's possible that it may not actually be 0 due to a rounding issue. Try manually entering 0 into the Z axis if you haven't already. If that doesn't work it could be a deeper issue that's hard to solve without context.

Hello . thank you actually i use this trick but it won,t work when i select many items the start Z and end Z or elevation won't appear again . do you have any trick to set the elevation equal to when selecting the whole plan
@youcandraft

When you select different object types together the Properties window will not show elevation information. You need to click the drop-down list at the top of the Properties window and select each object type, 1-by-1.

thanks bro
Yes, I tried that, it shows as all on one plane.
keep going
what about spline?
@youcandraft
3 жыл бұрын
splines are tricky because they have "fit points" that can be adjusted in the z-axis. You can change the elevation of each fit point within the properties window. If all the fit points are at the same elevation you can also simply move the spline to the correct elevation.

FLATTEN comand

Flatten is not the same thing. Flatten converts 3D objects to 2D.
thank you!
