Britain is a nation of dog lovers, but what happens when domestic bliss turns to chaos? Luckily, there's someone you can call. Master dog trainer, Graeme Hall is on a mission to restore harmony across the country. He has built his reputation on finding quick but long-lasting fixes to almost any unwanted dog behaviour, helping to train over 5000 canines (and 1 fox!) and their owners. His mantra is clear: "Any Dog, Any Age, Any Problem."

Tank would be outside in the back yard. (All joke aside) I can under stand why the people just do not know how to control a dog. I believe in treating my dog very good but the dog isn’t human; ( a dog is not a human child) After all it is an animal that needs direction and discipline and the human needs to be in control at all times.

My Mom came to my flat and cared for my eddie... and it took years until he would choose me over her again to sit with, etc.... even though he would behave much better, he wasn't aggressive, but it was hard for me, weak and sick, radiation therapy is very taxing, and all the time unwanted by my dearest darling.

My thoughts exactly. A person's body chemistry and odor can change with cancer. Some dogs can even smell cancer on a person. So he smelled like a stranger and had a stick and here he is in my house and no Mike to protect Ted and Pat from the stranger. I'd have given Mike some clothes he had not worn since before the cancer treatment if possible, something or things with his scent on them for Mike to wear or hold. His pillow from his bed, for example. So the dog could connect Mike's pre-illness smell with his post-illness smell.

You DON'T train a dog not to growl or reprimand them for doing so. A growl is very useful. It's a warning. Dogs need to be able to growl so we can read their behaviour. If a dog is trained not to growl, they will resort to biting without warning. The underlying issue here needed to be addressed not the resulting behaviour. Very outdated way of thinking - dogs need to be able to communicate so we can understand them.

Or get them involved in a sport or hobby. If you're unsure how youll go with having children, sign up for parenting classes. We dont get the knowledge at school. If you're lonely, join a club or hobby group. Local libraries, information centres and community centres usually advertise. Even disabled groups, schools or elderly citizens homes need people to do chat groups, run activities or hobby groups.

That terrier is not normal. Mike smelled and looked the same when he got home so Ted should have easily recognized him. But for no reason Ted now hates the man he loved. I've done 40 years of dog rescue and rehabilitation and the dog's behaviour is unnatural. Mike should be told that HE isn't the problem, that Ted is. He should be rehomed if he can be and Mike should be given a small sweetheart of a dog.

I have an 11 yo Shitzu Maltese who just started doing this when I get up to go the bathroom in the morning. I have 3 dogs and they all sleep in large crates in my bedroom at night. Now he has started throwing a fit. Totally annoying why I am trying to go to the bathroom.

@camartinwv at 11 yo, there may be a health cause. My 16yo doxy-mix has started taking himself to the bedroom, and barking insistently to get me to come to bed. If it’s close to bedtime, fine. But I’m not going to bed at 7:00 pm. He gets picked up & brought back into living room. His hearing & vision are mostly gone. I asked vet, in Kobe’s case he said may just be getting older, and doggy dementia could be setting in. Or his arthritis pain meds may also be making him want to sleep more. Does your older dog need to go to the bathroom urgently?

The little cairn senses the change, but the harsh reality is it is just a dog, and the poor guy has had enough shit to deal with. Get another dog, get rid of the old one.

My late husband and I had a Cairn terrier.4 yrs sweet personality, but very hard to train. Then she started getting snippy with both of us, and didn't want to be close to either of us. She got more yappy.
