Help Me Work on the Design of a Cascade Juniper from the Garden
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Today, I'm going to create a cascade bonsai from this Prostrata Juniper. I'm a little unsure about whether I want to create a conventional design or be unconventional, so please watch the video and help me decide! I will be reading the comments for your feedback!

The double branch sounds like a beautiful project I also like your vision when shaping your Bonsai

Welcome to a wonderful community!
I love what you’ve done it kind of reminds me of a person leaning over to embrace a hug, with the two arms reaching! You’ve done great! I love watching your craft and it’s inspiring me to doom town I have eleven young Red Maple seedlings that will be one year old in June they overwintered outside and they have a single bud on the terminal stem and can’t wait to watch them age! Thanks for inspiring me

Thanks for sharing what you see in the tree! I appreciate your support!
i think you know deep inside which style will suit you best. whatever happens it will be beautiful... ultimately as we all say, there is no right or wrong in the world of Master Chang's school of bonsai!

You've got! 🙂
This is perfect for me I just rescued a juniper that my husband pulled out of my garden last week. Im going to leave it for this year in a pot. But next year im planning to start training it. Your video helps me think about what to do and the best way forward. Thank you xx

Got it!
I don't have any pics of my former collection. I had a few Bristlecone pines that I had cascaded and one was a three branch. Think wind blown Jinned apex then cascade. I grew them from seeds so about a thirty year project for them. LOL. I had a modified chest freezer for them to have a winter once in a while. Arms wide open seems to me what the tree is most suited for. Keep up the good work.Take care and stay safe.

@@MiltonChang-ee6rq Thank you, that is very kind of you. I am now my wife's caregiver and don't quite have the time to devote to Bonsai. She is getting better and hopefully soon I will get to start over. Take care and stay safe.
I like your last idea of making the right branch shorter with a jin. I was seeing that from the start... I think that the two side by side cascading branches attracts stronger attention to those somewhat parallel lines and takes away from the visual of the rest of the tree. Also...I think a tree in nature that had two main cascading branches as such might be more vulnerable to strong winds....which might break off either branch in a storm....so I really like the idea of keeping the one cascading branch and shortening the other with a jin branch.... It kind of tells a story for the tree. :-) I love your openness and sharing....and learning more from your years of dedication and experience with your trees.
Second apex sounds interesting 😊

Its fascinating watching you work the tree. I like a cascading tree because of the drama it creates. I am learning a lot in watching your videos. Thanks

I like your design. Staying out of the norm is cool. I believe that the person with a vision of their tree is the true creator. Whatever decision you make is cool with me. Great pruning tutorial by the way.

I have never had an issue with multiple branches in a cascade. It’s all in the end results. I have a bumper trees and lantana with more then one branch in cascade. They look good.

I just bought a blue carpet juniper. I am so very glad to see this. I believe Imay have already killed it within one week with too harsh of root trimming

Always compensate by cutting off more greens on top...the trick is balance how much water the roots cna push and the leaves evaporate...

@@MiltonChang-ee6rq Wow! Thank you! This is my very first attempt at bonsai. I really appreciate the advise!
Let's see how plant responds. I'm a believer that the plant has the first vote. It may have a different idea all together.

Not much choice it has 🙂
I would like two cascading branches wide open, one shorter than the other. Thank you.

I think so too
I would shoot for the double branch. If the upper doesn’t work out, you can always turn it into a Jin. If neither works out, you can have a gin and tonic. 😊

Ok Ok 😊
Accentuate the interesting cascading branch--the other branch is a distraction. Jins are okay, but they can be overused and thus become distractions. I might also minimize the top, non-cascading growth--again, to accentuate the cascading branch.

Mayby the double branch with a little twist to the right...
For me the extra branch needs to go off. And a Jin close to the trunk.
@MiltonChang-ee6rq

aThat would look fine...Then we have to deal with "why natrure causes that branch to die off. Right?

@@MiltonChang-ee6rq other solution I did to a procumbens juniperus was to split the trunk in two with an axe and a hammer. Two trees in one! And I think you can do with this tree.
Two arms down but right one shorter

Second apex!
👍👌🙂
You are the Master but I would like to see the right branch become the most important one and the left one, the cascading one, to be l as important. Please excuse my poor skill

Jin the branch please

I'm always against rules and convention. Reminds me of traditions...Doing something for the sole purpose of it always being done. That bores me.
