    There are minimalist gardeners and maximalist gardeners. It would be respectful if people would STOP projecting THEIR gardening style on others. Some property owners would rather care for beautiful flowers instead of caring for grass/lawn. Linda your garden is BEAUTIFUL. I LOVE your gardening style. Gardeners should do what makes THEM happy.

    Hi Linda, yes, my garden looks in need of adjusting too, I’ve been away working a lot, a delivery of bags of bark & compost were dropped off and areas of my lawn are newly composted where I planted new grass seed! It’s a work in progress…from nothing/ but all uneven lawn to developing flower beds!

    Linda I love your videos . I am going to offer some advice from the perspective of someone who watches a lot of KZread videos: I would give less airtime to the critics, the majority of us want you to do you. I come to see you and it makes me sad when people are critical to the point of being rude. Let’s reward the positive and ignore petty or rude comments.

  • @tammy6816

    @tammy6816

    I couldn’t agree more! Maybe this is just me but when a KZreadr I follow address the critics, sometimes it comes across like we are all being scolded. I’m not a KZreadr and I can only imagine how deflating it must feel to read the rude or negative comments but I do wish those comments were simply ignored and not given air time. If a negative Nancy doesn’t like your garden or feels the need the harp on you for not having a railing on stairs, or has to correct your pronunciation, whatever! Ignore them. Maybe there’s many more negative/rude comments than what we see because they are deleted but IMO I would love to see you focus on the hundreds of comments made by those of us who enjoy your videos and your team!

So I really appreciated this video and got a couple tips I’m going to do. You are the right gardener for the cottage. It was begging someone to create and tend it. Stylistically, there is a difference between a landscaped yard and a garden. People that don't want to tend a garden usually prefer a lawn, trees and a couple of flowering bushes.

    I think we should focus more on what makes us happy vs. what other people see. For example, I tend to be a structured gardener while on the other hand, my mother has a more free, cottage type garden. When I’m at her house, I want to rip out all the “clutter” and when she’s at my house she panics when I prune.

    Your garden is great. I´m a minimalist inside but outside I like it full and overflowing. I think what helps my garden from not looking cluttered is the hard scape: borders made out of brick to hold all the plants together, gravel paths, same materials in furniture, pots, decor ... And a coulour scheme throughout (plants, materials and so on). Greetings from Germany 💛🐝💛

    I love your "cluttered " beautiful English style garden. Of course I suppose it is all about management and being able to maintain a garden like that, I couldn't that's why I enjoy yours.

    The dusty miller is a show stopper as it is, in my opinion. I would leave it. It is growing as a perfect sphere. 🌱🌱🌱🌱

    I would leave the huge Dusty Miller as is. I think it's fabulous, and I don't even like gray/silver plants.

    Love your idea of an arrangement of dusty miller and Minoan lace. I just made one with lambs ears and bishops weed flowers. I liked the simplicity and the monochrome look. Enjoyed your de-clutter ideas. Thanks. VA zone 7b.

    As for the Dusty Miller...I would lightly prune only. I think it's magnificent and the color provides a contrast in all the green. If it looks like it stands out, ADD MORE OF IT around the garden so it doesn't look lonely.

    it's not cluttered for Pete's sake. . . it's layered and quite beautiful. wish I was there to take some of that Minoan lace off your hands :). the before and after shots of the front are just so stark and incredible. just marvel at what you've created! happy week.

    Linda, you have done a very spectacular garden and a very inteligent one, too. You have created harmony between your house and the neighborhood. From the street, it looks very empty, with only lawn, but as you walk to the stairs it turned out to be very lush and full. Your garden merges perfectly well with the entire block, with the other houses. Very well done. Congratulations.

    Your garden has been the inspiration for my garden space, having removed the bermuda/lawn. Over time I learned that I put plants too close together and have moved some to other places in the garden creating a less cluttered look. Thinning and pruning are frequent tasks in my yard that also make the garden look cleaner and tidier.

    I never thought that your garden looked anything but beautiful. I love how you are experimenting with the native species and colors. That takes planting a lot of different things. As time goes by you may decides less of this more of that. That’s gardening! 🥰🥰🌸
