"Hello! Ma Baby" (Hello My Baby) is a Tin Pan Alley song written in 1899 by the team of Joseph E. Howard and Ida Emerson ("Howard and Emerson"). Its subject is a man who has a girlfriend he knows only through the telephone.
Its chorus is far better known than its verse, as the introductory song in the famous Warner Bros. cartoon One Froggy Evening (1955), sung by the character later dubbed Michigan J. Frog and high-stepping in the style of Bert Williams:
-- LYRICS --
Hello, hello, hello!
I've got a little baby but she's out of sight
I talk to her across the telephone
I've never seen my honey but she's mine alright
So take my tip and leave his gal alone
Every single morning you will hear me yell
"Hey Central fix me up along the line"
He connects me with my honey and I ring the bell
And this what I say to baby mine:
Hello! ma baby
Hello! ma honey
Hello! ma ragtime gal
Send me a kiss by wire
Baby, ma heart's on fire!
If you refuse me
Honey, you'll lose me
Then you'll be left alone
Oh, baby, telephone
And tell me I'm your own!
-- DID YOU KNOW? --
"Hello My Baby" was sung in the movie "Spaceballs" by an alien that emerges from a man's chest in the diner. This version by Michigan J. Frog originally aired in "Looney Tunes" several times, including in "Looney Tunes: Back in Action", when Bugs Bunny tells Kate Houghton that he plays the female co-star and dresses as a female. Michigan J. Frog, sitting at a table behind Kate and Bugs, starts singing the song.
In the "South Park" episode "Cancelled" (2003), the likeness of Saddam Hussein (briefly assumed by an alien) sings the song while dancing.

For some reason, that "frog song" in the title makes me laugh. I mean I doubt anybody listening to this hasn't seen the cartoon at least once, but I just imagine how confused somebody who'd never seen it would be. "What? What does this have to do with frogs? Is this what frogs do in your country!?"

I think what this song means is: "Ok so I got a girlfriend, but she's from another school and it's complicated."
I didn't know I needed this until now
Wow, that last note was pure perfection. Brilliant!
The audio sounds so...perfect...are the audio and video done separately, and you synced them together later?

Bryan Moore, yes, seriously, they sang with their lips. Considering that they’re only two people, they had to do at least two recordings, say one doing the left two parts and one doing the right two, for example. Then they mix them together to make the final product. Of course, if they get the timing, pitch, and everything else perfect on the first try both times, that would be truly incredible!

Palmas!!! Isso sim é música de verdade.
Simply Delightful!!! One of my favorite tunes of this type.. Speaking of which.. You two definitely can not only carry a tune in more than one million buckets, but could easily be heard, in neigh perfect pitch, from atop even K7.. I can hear as little as 1.5 semitones difference in pitch on any day of the week.. heh.. and was never more glad to be rid of cassettes.. can tell you that.. Thank you very much for this delightful song.. Namaste.....
How many people do you know that can sing all four ranges and still sound so good?!? You Go Julienne!!
Mega props to that Tenor for holding that note! And amazing job to all of you as a whole!

+A Cappella Trudbol (Julien Neel) I'm a new fan of yours and have really been enjoying your videos. I'm a writer. I just blogged a story excerpt from a mystery comedy short story or novella I hope to release around Valentine's Day. My two main characters, Jack Donegal and Andy Westin, are in the toy business together, amateur sleuths, best friends and roommates. In this story segment, Jack has invited his barbershop quartet buddies over. They bug Andy (the roommate and narrator) by following him around and coming up with songs for every mundane occasion. My blog links to this video and one of your other videos. www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/9450790-story-excerpt----barbershop-on-espresso-double-shots-or-life-is-not-a

i love the fact hes both a bass and the lead. vocal range out of this world
A well loved and important American (Indian, cowboy, movie star, author, humanitarian) Will Rogers used to sing this while playing his banjo. That was a hundred years ago though, when the song was popular.
70+ people must of read the "dislike" button as "dis I like."
1:04 Poor tenor, just wanted to be cool
@trudbol that´s right. that´s what internet is for. keep the world swinging, golden boy!
Funny how most people remember this song (c. 1910) from a cartoon made decades later featuring a dancing frog. The frog also did Michigan Rag and Take Me Back to Mavourneen. But now Julien Neel may have created by his own rendition a new memory for folks of the 21st century.
Brilliant as always!
