HELLDIVERS 2 - What have you done, Phillip ? - fan made cinematic in Mocap Fusion.

Hi, this is a simple mocap test in Mocap Fusion (available on steam) with only 3 vive trackers ! I'm still improving my setup to have fingers, facial, and more trackers in Mocap Fusion, but it already looks cleaner and more usable to me than Rokoko, perception neuron, and even Xsens ! From having done post-animation on these mocap suits captures. It's also much faster to setup and get your mocap in Blender, nearly a matter of seconds !
You can use Mocap Fusion for free, but I highly recommend supporting the creator on Patreon to unlock the 10 seconds export limit & finger tracking !

Render is done in Blender Cycles, and eevee for the fog, at less than 10 seconds per frame for fullHD !

@@azap1378 VR allows for easy to use mocap level capture of movements. It's far more efficient than manually rigging models to get more personalable.

Yo where did you get the model it looks soo detailed??

It's been extracted from the game, and I've re-rigged it and added one of my smart effects to have dirt on him so he feels more grounded.

The quality of mocap looks really nice! What's your setup?

  • Ай бұрын

yes that's what I want to point out, I'm only using Mocap Fusion now after using mocap suits for previous projects for a couple years, and I'm blown away. I need to order 3 more trackers to track hand continuously while still having optical finger tracking from Quest, that looks better than mocap gloves, but here it's just feet + hip, and quest pro controllers in hands, so knees and elbows are not even trackers, and they look just good ! The facial is also amazing with quest pro !

You can use mocap fusion for SFM I'm pretty sure. your animations looks nice though, it is mostly keyframe I believe ?

@ Thank you! Some of the animation is keyframed, some of it is from free sources (like Rokoko) and some of it is from my asset library from Unreal Engine 😁 Generally I'd prefer less keyframed animations because I'll be aiming for a more "realistic" approach in the future projects.

@ Oh wow! I was thinking of saving up for Rokoko or PN3. For Rokoko I've heard a lot of horror stories though. This seems like a very viable option to use. It's also cheaper!

@@HadesFilm I got a PN3 for winning reallusionlip synch challenge, but I started to dread at the idea of using it as sometimes it took me like 4 entire days to get it to work, for barely usable mocap I had to essentially entirely redo, extract key-poses from, and just re-animate lol. Maybe it's just magnetic interferences, and rokoko is less sensible like Xsens. But today I just want to CRUSADE mode and speak out about vive trackers mocap, and mocap fusion specifically as it's the only actual solution I believe, and it now does full perfomance capture with Quest pro since this christmass, where the creator did an Occulus build. I started to think baout it like one month ago, and I feel already much more productive and enabled than with the PN3, or the data I got to animated over from rokoko or Xsens sesssions for freelance short films. It did take me weeks of figuring out, as I seem to be the first one to try this, but will try to explain my full perf capture setup as simply as possible once I've figured out everything. But basically, 6 trackers (+2 for elbows ideally), one is to synch both 3d spaces (steam & oculus), and quest pro does finger and face. putting your own characters into mocap fusion takes a bit of time but it's made really simple by the unity SDK. and yea, you mocap inside the skin of the final character, inside your 3d enviro if you want, can't get more feedback than that, compared to checking on a big TV on the side of your living room. and it works wireless, which was critical to me, no usb cable needed for the headset.
