It also works on the cannon towers and tanks! But remember, shooting the sides that connect to the back vent will work, not the full side.

Shooting ANYWHERE on the mortar works. I've hit them in the barrels with the laser cannon and destroyed them. Turrets and tanks still require back and sides though.

i think the 50% chance to not die from lethal damage is way better. Because while the 50% explosive resistance is nice, it only works for explosions. while the lethal one works for every single damage type. Whether thats a bullet, a rocket or a melee. It can also work against flamethrower hulks, if you drop to 0 but the armor saves you, you get extinguished. saved me many times. idk if it has heavy armor though so that 5% resistance difference is the tradeoff.

I personally rock the "democracy protects" medium armor at all times too. So many times I survived when I was supposed to be dead :) They should add a heavy armor with this perk IMHO

I use the enforcer set that was in the shop once, the stats are like in the middle of medium and heavy armor, 129 armor. And it has the fortified buff that was shown in the video, not to mention the drip goes hard especially with the bot slayer cape

I'd add the caveat that the factory strider's turret is the only dangerous weapon to *you*. For anyone without the ballistic shield, the factory strider's chin gatling guns are by far and away the biggest threat. And that's in isolation. If you are in a situation where other enemies have a reasonable chance of knocking you down, those chain guns also pose the bigger threat to you. Against bots specifically, I'd put the Eagle Airstrike above the 500kg. The Eagle Airstrike can one-shot everything the 500kg can. Tanks, hulks, turrets, they all die to the Eagle Airstrike. The Eagle Airstrike also has a greater impact area and more uses. The 500kg's superior damage is therefore wasted against every automaton except the factory strider, which can often be tackled by neutering and isolating it anyway rather than trying to blow through its hp all at once at the expense of not dealing with other enemies and putting all your stratagems on cooldown.

Agreed, I’d swap the 500 for an orbital gas or ems mortar, but I also haven’t done a helldive against bots in a while

I would drop the 500kg in favor of an orbital or a turret, running more than one eagle leaves you open to awkard rearmings and the airstrike already one shoot everyrhing except for the strider, you get more uses and it covers a bigger area, agaisnt the automatons the airstrike is way better than the 500Kg Orbital precision is a good alternative since it fires a 380 Rocket and can one shot towers and it has a low cooldown, the 380 barrage is great for clearing heavy bases/mortars/anti air and covering the extract (trow it at around 70m away from you) , walking barrage is another great alternative since its easier to predict and has an insane reach, pair them with the salvo assisted perk. The auto cannon turret drops hulks in an instant

Orbital laser is pretty good- depending on how many enemies are around, I’ve been able to take out a medium base along with all enemies using one, as they can destroy factories. I typically run orbital laser and Eagle strike alongside the shield and laser cannon

Walking barrage is my preferred barrage, as it actually feels like you have a bit of control over collateral damage. Blast the front door and rip a big swath through any encampment without worrying about gibbing your teammates.

I think the stun grenade and the anti material rifle go together good

I have been noticing many players running the AMR too! it really is a good combo. I personally prefer the laser cannon as its easier to take out enemies at further range. Have you given the laser cannon a try?

My recimendation is: play whatever fits your gameplay the best. We are not a regular infantry. We are the HELLDIVERS, so we can use whatever weapon we like the most. That's why we can choose weapons and stratagems before the mission start. Don't listen to the "meta coaches". Just do your part.

I 100% agree that every player should run whatever loadout they want! Helldivers 2 is not a game to follow metas imo. I made the loadout simply because it gave me SUCH an easier time against the toasters. I’ve been reading all the comments and a lot of players have been sharing their builds and why they use them. And I love that! Helldivers, use any loadout/weapons you want. Use my video for inspiration or ideas to make your own loadout too ;3 Just have fun spreading democracy!

I usually run with this: 500kg Bomb, Airstrike, Orbital railcannon, and Autocannon or Quasar Cannon. Primary is good ol’ Sickle. :) And secondary can be whatever.

Each of us has a specialised skillset. Some of us are grenadier masters, others are insane with running up close and dealing with the enemy. Some might be the sharpest shot from even the furthest away. Having everyone do the same means universal weaknesses. This is the same in genetic diversity or in any work environment to name two examples.

It makes me so happy to see people use Ballistic Shield + Laser. I ran this before both of them got buffed, and it wasn't great but it was a ton of fun. Now with the buffs and the Pummeler, it is still every bit as fun, but also super good.

I've been running this exact build (except preferring precision strike for detectors instead of 500kg) for the past couple weeks and can confirm you're effective against anything automatons can throw at you. I jump between the laser cannon and the AMR though. The AMR gives me an edge at range while the shield + SMG is mostly useful for storming a base. And it's still effective at all the same targets. Very fun

You know whats better than using something that doesn’t need to be aimed? Knowing the throwing distance of stratagems. Its 45m without buffs and 60m with buffs. You can use the danger ping to measure distance which will make throwing stratagems and grenades easy.

Can’t wait to try this build later today! Looks amazing!

NGL the Pummeler for me is the best weapon in the game right now against both. meat saw? 1 round stunned! Stalker on your ass? 1 round stunned! Devastator? 1 round stunned! Just stun them all, take a condor moment, aim at a weak point or just empty you mag in them. Against bots though, Pummeler and the Ballistic Shield is amazing!

Nice round loadout. The only thing I dislike is the 500kg+airstrike combo. The shared cooldown always brings me into the uncomfortable situation of not having the right strategem ready.

The stun grenade was a complete life changer for me. When there are only 3 stratagems with increased cooldown or when Im getting overrun with enemies and need to flee, during basic engagements on points of interest, simply everywhere the stun grenade is the item to have at hand. The options and openings it gives are priceless.

I can see the reasons you do this load out but im sticking with my golden olden setup. Eagle Airstrike Orbital Laser Recoiless Rifle Autocannon Turret LAS Sickle Primary Grenade Pistol Secondary Contact Grenades Medium armor with explosive resistance and engineering kit ( 6 grenades ) Airstrike / Laser combo can destroy ANY bot base. RR can take down Airships, Dropships, Hulks, Tanks, Factory Striders ( if you know all their weakspots ) Sickle means INFINITE ammo, and has excellent range / accuracy. Pistol, like you said, to clear objectives that would otherwise require grenades. Contact grenades to blow up well, anything and everything that is not a weak ass basic automaton. And IF ( and that is a BIG if ) all this mayhem and madness is STILL not enough to keep enemy forces suppresed .... introducing, the AUTOCANNON turret. It lives for 1 purpose : Murdering bots. Excellent damage, crazy range, can take a punch. Its basically calling down your own back up. Relative short cooldown, and infinite uses. Its your metal brother from another mother. I have managed to clear Helldives with this, and dying zero times. Hell, sometimes i feel kinda dickish for putting out so much dmg and hurt on those poor automatons xD

A point worth mentioning in your videos is that a team loadout can be quite different from a solo loadout. The cult of “self” permeates our society but this is a game of teamwork, so we should talk more about being in synch with our team mates’ choices and habits. It’s an interesting topic.

Helldiver of the SES Eye of the Regime with 185 hours of gameplay. Heavy armor with the Fortified passive is good, but an alternative against bots would be light armor with the Scout passive. This playstyle will be less focused on killing bots and more focused on doing the objectives without getting bogged down in prolonged engagements. It's a solid alternative for those who hate the slow movement speed of heavy armor. I myself run light armor with the Scout passive, the Jar-5 Dominator, the P-4 Senator, impact grenades, and the AC-8 Autocannon. My airstrikes are Eagle 500kg Bomb, Orbital Railcannon Strike, and Orbital Laser.

I'm a bit of a weirdo - I like best the Punisher shotty with the Senator pistol and AMR, plus jump-pack against bots. I love how much the punisher shoves them around with each shot, and smashes them up. Then I jump up and go sniping from on top of a rock, then flanking around. Pew pew. With a good team I play as the sniper watching everyone's backs. Then dive in when needed and smash the groups with primary/secondary. I run armour with the 6 nades always, constantly throwing impact grenades. I will try the stun grenades though. Lascannon is a great option though as well. Good video thumbs up.

At the start he was so damn calm the just went happy Gilmore on the rocket launcher bots😂

I've been running an almost identical but with the AMR instead of the laser cannon and the 380 barrage over the 500kg. I think Las/AMR are around equal with the Las being better against airships and the AMR being better against scout striders and devistators but I think it's mostly personal preference. I like the 380 because it doesn't stack eagle cool downs and it's nice for softening if not fully killing heavy bases even if you're on your own. Love the video!

scorcher (for one tapping smal targets and killing hulks and towers in one magazine when you are behind them) Anti-material rifle (autocanon for blitz) Grenade pistol (fabricators) Stun grenade (stun hulks and two tap them with AMR) Eagle strike for packs. 380mm for bases. laser for base and pack destruction. and b-24 enforcer armor. never had any problems.

Greatest dopamine rush in this game is having that kill counter turn red as you stack bodies.

nice, you made the shield work. gonna try that. i usually just run Pummeler, Senator, any grenade EAT or Arc Thrower, Air Strike, Precision Strike and whatever i like (jumppack for example) and some light armor. then sneak into what i want to attack and unleash hell. several times i just snuck up to the stratagemblocker console (jumping halfway there) and deactivating that stuff, and then getting started on killing bots. i love this game, and the fact that there are so many ways to achieve stuff, other than to 'fall back to current meta'. everything can work, and that's awesome

Honestly I prefer the punisher as my primary due to the heavy pushback factor, devastators are a thing of the past if you have a full mag, as for crowd control you can one shot any raider from a pretty sweet range. As he mentioned in video running the grenade pistol as a secondary will get rid of striders as well. As for support weapons, no need! I run an all air strike / orbital stratagem loadout on top of this for maximum democracy. The only downside to the punisher is the crippling rounds reload time, you don’t need to reload often due to the mag size but you can only reload a few times with 60 shells. _THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUSLY LONG GOOBYE_

Sniper Rifle, Explosive Disrupter, pistol, Impact Grenades for two legged walkers, Orbital Railgun, 500 KG Eagle, Orbital Laser.

A lot of very good points, thank you for the vid. Myself, i think that, funnily, Gas Strike is the go-to stratagem against the automatons, as it just melts anythink smaller than a hulk, doesn't instakill an accidential ally, has large AOE and you basically don't have to aim it because of how long it stays. Also pairs really well with the Autocannon.

Usually, me and my group go in with stealth in mind. We use armor with the Scout tag, and take our sweet time (we're given 40 minutes, we're using those 40 minutes dangit). Our weapons vary, from using the Breaker, to the precision guns, to the laser guns, and anything we really want, so long as it's accurate at range. We always prioritize all targets that can call in dropships, and bring stratigems to either put distance between us and the majority of the group, or we have stratigems that can destroy fabricators. Typically, we use the Eagle Airstrike (works for destroying fabricators and small groups of enemies), the Orbital Laser (perfect for heavy bases or holding down extraction if we still have charges), the Autocannon (for taking out heavy targets and fabricators), and whatever we deem as necessary for the fourth slot (either Railcannon or Precision Strikes for fabricators and heavy targets, depends on if you want accuracy or speed), turrets of any kind (for holding extraction if we get spotted), 500 KG (though this typically takes the place of Airstrike if it isn't taken), or a backpack (my friend uses the Supply Pack to keep up on ammo, grenades and stims, and I usually run the Shield Generator for when crap hits the fan and I need to run. Keeps stray shots off me, extending the uses of stims I got. Also, it allowed me to do 2 Helldive missions without dying in a row. My friends got mad at me because I wasn't killing as many as they were despite not being spotted as often, and purposefully avoiding combat).

There are many ways to play the game, which makes it great! If stealth is the way you wanna play then go right on ahead ;3 Kills are by no means a measurement of skill either, so dont let your friends bother u on that behalf.

Our build philosophies couldn't be so further apart its hilarious, try this out I'd love to get an opinion as its the ONLY way I fight bots (on non defense missions anyways) R-63 P-2 G-16 Light Armor, specifically Engineering Kit, gives you extra recoil control (this will be important) and 2 extra grenades Orbital Rail Cannon Eagle Air Strike Anti Material Rifle And An Auto Cannon with this loadout you stay mobile, not getting hit will always be better than tanking hits, only takes 1 lucky clanker to ruin your day the primary strategy you use with a loadout like this is never stop moving, take outposts your squad doesn't wanna to save time and practice with your guns, the r-63 can two tap most bots if you hit your shots, and the sniper can two tap a hulk in the face, no getting close, no problem, clankers do not like overwhelming fire superiority, use your auto cannon as if its just another dude you're calling in, if you're running to a base and theirs a big open field drop that sucker in a far left or right corner to avoid cross fire and it will drop tanks hulks squads of devastators all on its own, they average around 15-30 kills for me with non stop fire, the rail cannon is your "I have a headache" stratagem when you just don't want to deal with something and eagle air strike is just a solid option, traditional air strikes never get old and with short cool downs you can pound any base or bot hot drop the second it becomes an issue IN SUMMARY, BE QUICK, BE ACCURATE, BE DEADLY an added bonus to taking the anti mat over the auto cannon as well is if your team brings in ANY back pack item you can run it with them, there has been a few times I've been able to haul an extra auto cannon backpack for speed reloading or for passing off when our auto cannon runs dry on ammo lastly solid video, I've always enjoyed build guide videos, you've got a like and a sub from me

btw I highly recommend the impact incendiaries for a fast loadout (not necessarily this one) because it takes out walkers with ease.

Unless they nerfed it, use the air burst stratagem on defensive missions to lock down an avenue of approach with a ton of bots. I have used it to great effect. Also mix and match your gear to your team mates, if you have this set up make sure your team doesn’t also have this set up. Having complimentary load outs rather than identical ones always works out best. Lastly have fun with your picks, in the end it’s a game and we all play to have fun, for Democracy!

My stratagem combo mains are ems mortar and autocannon sentry, i place (either) one on left (or right) side (primarly ems mortar) and other on opposite side at a bit of a distance, most bots will rush the ems while the autocannon shoots and destroys them

Excellent stuff, the cursing caught me way off guard. Any armour with knockback resistance would easily be one of the most wanted items for the community. The amount of times a rocket hit the ground or wall near me and sent me flying is insane. That, or they patch the physics up. Also I abhor the enemies clipping into walls and shooting you. i sometimes get high ground only to be shot from below through the floor.

Can confirm this build is insane. I personally prefer the AMR to the Laser, but both are vialble. I also like taking 110 Rocket Pods over Airstrike for the extra precision when taking out turrets and tanks. Still...very strong build.

OK I tried it. Hated it I'm sorry. Smg is so weak can't kill any thing and that damn shield... half the time I'm like "where is it?!!! I just had it wtf" crazy easy to drop it and not even noticeable it's gone.. I musnt be elite enough as you sir to make that build work, I commend you /salute

After I tried the ballistic shield the first time after it was fixed some weeks back I haven't been able to use anything else against the bots, it just removes heavy devastators from being a threat, just straight from the top of the threat list to the bottom. I do wanna talk a bit about the support weapon, the laser cannon is great but both the AMR and the quasar are good alternatives, the AMR one-shots hulks in the eye and can otherwise kill everything the laser cannon can as they have the same armor pen, the quasar meanwhile can't take down several hulks in a row but can instead kill turrets and tanks from any direction (requiring more than one hit though), all of them can also deal with gunships well but at different paces and with different ammo requirements. The railgun should TECHNICALLY be on par with the others against gunships, but weirdly it feels horrible, it should take out a gunship with 4 overcharged shots to an engine same as the AMR, which sure takes longer on paper, but it ends up being like 12 shots to an engine.

That ending made me cackle, that was nice subbed

I run a sort of... base eradication loadout, its pretty fun too, and it hits the automatons right where it hurts. This is my loadout: throw range buffing armor (I prefer medium armor but heavy's cool too) punisher plasma spear railcannon strike 380mm orbital bombardment orbital laser stun grenades grenade pistol With the better throwing arm, you can throw stratagems directly into the middle of automaton bases undetected. Heavy automaton bases break easy if you combine the orbital laser and 380mm cannons, take out any fabricators left with spear or railcannon strike. Use the punisher plasma to mop up the remaining mess if you have to go in there anyway, use either grenade pistol or spear to take out stubborn fabricators.

Just for fun sharing my current build for fighting automatons (generally played on diff 7, I don't try 8 or 9 much): Fortified armour ofc (just like in video) Diligence CS as primary (Default weapon against all non-heavy enemies, 1 headshot will kill any of them, even if it can be difficult to land) Grenade pistol & impact grenades as secondary as grenades (I prefer the general utility of the grenade pistol as a way to try and supplement firepower against certain medium size enemies, which is the main weakness of the bulid, in general these would be fine to switch up) Stratagems are: Eagle airstrike (self-explanatory, could also be 500kg but I don't have expanded weapons bay) Spear (default response for hulks, tanks, striders where the primary isn't effective, also fun for taking out fabricators. generally, this handles heavy enemies while other weapons handle everything else) Mortar & autocannon sentries (great for throwing down whenever off cooldown in order to keep areas secure and provide support in fights)

I have been using this shield for a long time now and it has always been my go to support stratagem, smg's and the revolver are always reliable. I like mixing up the support weapons for they each give a different playstyle to help my teammates.

Whenever I'm doing automatons and theres a squad with loadouts similar to yours, i always bring a spear to hit turrets, tanks, gunships, bot fabricators, and the cannon turret on top of the walkers to nerf them. It does have its downsides like lock-on being stubborn, and giving up your backpack slot, but it has extremely far range so you can engage without getting close. Add an autocannon sentry, orbital laser and 500kg or eagle strike and you become a force multiplier to your squad. Support is a lot of fun to play on automatons!

Dude ive been loving stun grenades and grenade pistol combo for awhile but im definitely gonna do the shield combo with stun smg... gotta admit tho i REALLY dont wanna use the laser cannon... ill try it once cuz this video was hilarious and informative. Im a strong believer that people should not follow any “meta” in this game! I simply love the laser canon for the automatons! You can swap it out to any support weapon you like. Such as the AMR. Don’t force this loadout upon yourself. Take what you want from it and see what fits your very own playstyle ;3 Im glad you found this video funny and informative! Goodluck helldiving!

Nah, I usually use the countersniper rifle for sniping their asses from billions gazillion kilometres with only one shots and the airburst rokect launcher for anihilating patrols, drops, and any other sort of bots' groups. Airstrike, 380, and autocannon sentry or orbital airburst strike to just blink out of existence everything on my way. And medical armour is, yes, one of the best choices in the game. In the previous patch with infinite patrols, I had an average kill count of 380-400 on bots.

As a veteran who was born and and raised in THE CREEK, this is a blessing🙏🏾

For the mortar emplacements, you can shoot anywhere on the mortar and it will take damage! ;3

I must say, the orbital walking barage is quite good on some of the mission types. it is basically a 380mm that is directable. And, i have also found that running some kind of smoke stratagem really helps in bad situations, even just taking the smoke grendae. If you throw it on a terminal, the bots cannot see you so you are free to put in codes. same with sentries and hellbombs, they cant see them so they wont be destryoyed. Try it out!

As someone rocking exact same loadout, I'd recommend to use AMR on hot planets instead, since LC cooldown becomes stupid long. It serves exact same purposes for you with similar results with AMR being way more ammo-hungry, but dealing way faster with its targets.

This is a solid build and works wonders. But since I think heavy armors are too slow, I`m using the B-24 Enforcer from the super store, a medium armor with 50% explosive resistance damage. Quasar and AMR also works pretty well with this build. Good job!

So fun fact about Fortify perk and by extension Armor rating. Turns out Armor Rating only helps with the impact of a rocket, which isn't that much damage to begin with. Explosions always do a flat amount of damage that can only be halved by the fortify perk. Now, I support heavy armor all day long more because the Heavy Devastators are slightly less likely to absolutely rinse you and MG raiders feel less of a 'surprise motherfucker' when they aren't killing you in one burst. Which in that vein, the Servo Assisted bonus limb health is a lot more noticeable combined with heavy armor against small arms fire. Servo Assisted also helps mitigate the slower nature of your movement with that extended throwing reach.

Just go extra padding Heavy Armor lol. But I like running extra padding medium atm ur tanky enough while also not struggling with speed and Stamina.

My playstyle against the bots is quite similar to yours. For stratagems, I usually bring the 500, precision strike, supply pack and EATs. Supply pack lets me carry an extra 8 stims and stuns with me, which means I don't have to ration out my stims and stuns as much as other players. I have much more survivability because I can pop stims like they're candy. Stuns are there to help me answer hulks. After stunning a hulk, I can call down a 500, precision strike or an EAT hellpod on it to take it out, or headshot it with an EAT for a one shot kill. EAT hellpods have such low cooldowns that I also call them down on fabricators to save my other stratagems for higher value targets. My go-to primary for both fronts is the punisher plasma because it ignores the heavy devastator shields and staggers them so they stop shooting and staggering me. I also run heavy armor and the grenade pistols for the reasons you mentioned in the video. I think I'll give the laser cannon another go after watching your video and see how it works with my loadout. I did not know it could kill heavies till now.

stun grenade and grenade pistol is a legendary combo ngl. no secondary weapon even compares

5:16 "Always prioritize the hulk" Not always! Although this may be true for when a bot drop has been called in, commissars should be dealt with first due to their ability to call in bot drops in the first place! (Commissars are the one with ONE sword.)

regular eagle airstrike is actually quite a bit better for killing bots than the 500 imo. fortified armor (crouch accuracy +30 explosion resistant +50) is awesome. I prefer medium. Speed is important here too. Light armor is great with the right perks and weapon tactics. such as shield generating pack + AMR. With the fortified medium armor however, autocannon.

This is really fun and effective, but i also have a cool variation: Replacing the ballistic shield backpack with the shield generator relay, for team wide aoe safe area; You can bring any primary with this and i usually bring a penetrator rifle with the anti material rifle. You should give it a try its really fun too and your teamates will appreciate you for the AOE cover!

F34 exterminator armour in the store has fortified and is medium + recoil boost when crouching, my go to

The ballistic shield is so slept on. I’ve only ever seen 1 person using it, and it basically allows you to just walk into bases and tank all the lasers, from any enemy type that doesn’t shoot a rocket. It can even resist a direct hit from a tower cannon, tho it will be destroyed

It’s the best stratagem for fighting the toasters imo!

Very solid loadout, but I must add: one size does not fit all. Ballistic shield is great when paired with an SMG, I wholeheartedly agree but there is a caveat: it can be destroyed. The shield generator backpack (or the SpongeBob, as I call it) shouldn’t be looked at as only a strategem, but an insurance policy. ONE SHOT ROCKETS WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST. Also remember to use cover as well. The smallest ledge, the smallest crevice, or the roughest canyon wall IS COVER. When in doubt, dive for cover.
