The storytelling and spectacle is high, the visuals look incredible… but I’m not exactly sure where the video game is here.

I just don't understand why you people are complaining... They never said it's a videogame.. They always promoted it as experience and it's basically walking simulator just like first one.. I hope you don't expect death stranding 2 to be different game... 😂 Yes, it's overpriced at $50 as first one was $30 only... But that $50 basically screams don't expect AAA game.... I wouldn't pay $30 to play this game just like I didn't pay $30 to first one... It's on gamepass enjoy... best example is "love death+ robot" on Netflix.... It's not a movie or series but good content for them.. That's it..

Chapter 4 was a horror movie, literally never had a game make me jump off my seat. The atmosphere and the world building is unmatched. Glad it’s only a 6 hours game, any longer would have been boring. What an amazing experience

I really loved and enjoyed every second of this game, the atmosphere is really brutal

Combat system has definitely improved since first game, also for those who have never played it you should give it a go its not like every other game out there its highly immersive for cinematic type of game very powerfuly story thatll have you locked in for the entire 6 hours

Pretty much what the first guy said to your comment 😂 the game isn't for everyone this game is story focused only with one path you have to follow and it's quite an immersive game with no button prompts very realistic, there are scenes where you are playing then it goes to cinematic view which I find very cool. Like I said it's not for everyone very different from open world games but the graphics are so spectacular her hair blows around, little details like when she's walking she looks around so she's not just looking forward all the time thats a pretty cool added detail

I'm still waiting for gameplay...

This isn't a game. This is experience and it is meant to be played at 30 or maximum 45 fps. At 60fps it loses it's all cinematic feeling. More = worse. Sure it plays very well but at cost of something unique.

In my opinion they should have just made a CGI movie/series for this and made it the price of a movie. Every time control is given I just want to get past that and get to the 'cutscenes'. I feel like we need more cinematic experiences given by game developers in CGI and this game proves it more. Especially since most live-action adaptations don't do all that well for gaming. Another great example is God of War and God of War Ragnarök, though that had the right balance of gameplay vs. cinematic experience. It think this would be a great way to fill in story for a lot of gaming series between full game releases.

So where's the video game mechanics? Like not to state the obvious but The Order 1886 had more game mechanics than this. Death Stranding had more game mechanics than this. This is just a slight interactive movie. Or am I missing something?

I noticed that too. The game still looks great, but definitely not as good as the trailer. Probably because it was too difficult for the Xbox consoles to run.

The game looks nice, no doubt, but for a game that aims to be cinematic, the cinematography and facial animations are not that great tbh. Thw devs seem to completely lack knowledge on how to properly use depth of field in cinematography.

There's no need to buy this game whatsoever. I'll just watch a "No Commentary" walkthrough here on YT and move on.

Such a misguiding aspect of the game they showed back then. Giving the impression of a cool giant battle action game when its anything but. The only cool thing they showed long ago during E3 ( which also turns to shit half way in). And of course it was this because everything else is a boring piece of walking sim shit.

Fr 50 dollars to watch a shcizo run around to jedi fallen order bingo bongo music for 5 hours i think not !

So lackluster compared to the trailer game was good definitely good in many ways but idk the first felt better in many ways as well
