My favorite line "I'd pay the devil twice as much to keep your soul" like... how badly must you be wronged that you hold a vengeance so strong that you'd pay the devil twice what a soul is worth. Intense, beautiful song; intense in all the right places, and perfectly slow in the perfect spots too. 15/10 one of my all time faves

It gives me the vibes of a wronged western anti hero, not good not evil. Just coming back to settle debts and right wrongs.

That line “I am the righteous hand of god, and the devil that you forgot” it is so powerful and angelic as devilish as the line sounds it has a strike of divinity which is wizardry to the heart.

"How many times have you listen to this song?" Me: "Yes" Might be one of the best songs if not the best song i've heard. I've heard a lot of good music but i've never felt an emotional response to a song like this. Everything about this song is perfect.

I swear I listen to this at least ten times a day. It's one of those songs that just feels so cathartic to scream along with.

I will always remember watching these guys play at the coffee shop my mom worked at in California. I have been to a lot of smaller shows but Poor Mans Poison always made it feel like a sold out show at the bowl. I still have their shirt! The world is a better place with them back together.

Folk Music is sooo underrated. I don't and never will understand why people favor modern country over masterpieces like THIS that modern folk artists like Poor Mans Poison and The Crane Wives make. I'd absolutely rather hear a powerful revenge song about burning down an entire town than some budget cowboy with auto tune singing about his pickup truck/mother is sad he just got out jail. Y'know what this song reminds me of? The Dark Tower. There are some parallelles that you could pull between the song and the movie/books... And it hits the vibe pretty well. Hill at the bottom of the valley = the city where they take harvested children Hear 'em like a ghost = hearing the screams when they attack the Tower with the children Town at the bottom of the hill = the town where they harvest children Black magic preacher = Walter You hear me ring that bell = the earthquakes that happen when the Tower is attacked The drifter = Roland (played by the myth Idris Elba) Promise to come back to town = Gunslinger's creed To be clear, I listened to this song before I got a hold of the Dark Tower stories, so I might just be grasping at straws here. But I gotta say, I LOVE this song and listen to it often. Thank you to Poor Mans Poison for this work of art!

I just came across this song the first time just now. It reminds me very strongly of "High Plains Drifter", a Clint Eastwood movie from way back. Highly recommend it, probably second only to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly as the best of Eastwood.

Originally I searched up this song as it has been popping up as a meme recently- but I want to hear more of this stuff this is so good! Every part of this song slaps way too much.

I grew up largely in the punk rock and heavy metal scene, with some dabbling in the acoustic area of those genres. Eventually I found folk punk and got super into that. But this? This is something all its own and it is fucking AMAZING. Somehow I relate so much to the lyrics in ways I don't really understand. But it's just so damn powerful and convincing, I'm gonna be listening to it on repeat for a few weeks at least.

If you get a chance man.seem them live it is one hell of a show. They are strong live.

The line that hit me hardest was "It is well with my soul" just for the reference to that hymn in context and it just gives me chills. Such fantastic lyricism.

Awesome song! Another gem stumbled upon. I don't know why but there are parts of the song that make me think of Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter.

I found you! About a month ago, my feeds and all the animatics, flooded me. And I found the prospect of a simple town, with hellish prospects attractive. I can only echo similar sentiments but, I AM SO THANKFUL TO FIND THE ORIGINAL VIDEO* so thank you for the ear worm that’s been stuck in my head for a month or so now!

My new favorite song. This music just stood out to me not being like any other modern rock bands I've seen. This Is Far Better than most of the well-known titles. You deserve more love than you receive. My favorite part is at 1:13, i absolutely love the sudden change to a much faster beat. The vocals and the enunciation is pristine. The instrumental is glorious and the back up vocalists are really pulling their share. Truly amazing song here.

I love how this song is always in videos

This song is an overview of most cowboy revenge films and I love it!

For some reason, my favorite line is "they didn't know him by his face or by the gun around his waist but he come back to burn that town to the ground". I think its the catchiest part and what I love about all these songs is that they tell stories.
