I'm new to this game, I enjoy it a lot but it's quite literally a walking simulator a lot of the time. If I have the options between spawning at a garrison where there are heavy battles and spawn killing enemies or spawning at a place far, far away and have to run for 5+ minutes - which should I choose? I was thinking it's better to TRY to make a difference at the warzone, and the worst feeling ever is running for 5+ minutes just to get sniped out of nowhere... Of course, this depends on the match and where the garrisons have been placed, but sometimes it's like there is no choice.

Communicating is the big problem now. Lots of new level players with no mics. I’m all for new players cause they’ll learn the game eventually but it’s difficult sometimes with a mute squad. Had to do my first game of commander yesterday and actually ended up getting a victory

I agree, i installed the game but there is no tutorial, just a long list of things to study, i usually dont play with the mic in games, it seems everyone always want to argue or harass me, but today i installed the game and putted my headphones, NO ONE talked, a waste of time if you get killed because you dont even know whats happening in the battlefield.

​@hallzyy8023 you don't need to talk often just let the squad know where enemy infantry/tanks and possible spawns are and just let the squad lead know what you are doing. Trying to lead a mute squad is a painful task.

Try clan servers. I'm with Easy Company and we have 4 servers and I almost always get a squad the communicates. Although with the wave of game pass players I have to jump on SL or Commander so we don't get steamrolled.

HLL always manages to sneak in a game that almost redeems itself haha

HLL being on game pass makes me an average at best sniper seem like you alpine. I’ve been just sitting and watching these guys just do wave after wave of running in the open and getting these kids mowed down by the mg gunners until they wise up and bring out a tank. I’ve been having games of 60+ kills as a sniper. It’s crazy

It's broken on game pass with the message "game full" every time you try to join a server. At least on PC. Are you playing on console? Looks like you can't play it with game pass, at least on PC. There's a reddit about it and this information is confirmed. Some were successful turning off crossplay but then they have no servers to play or just empty ones.

the practice range doesnt really help for shit. theres no proper tutorial. it just drops you in to a small area with some targets and vehicles nearby

Welcome to the community!! Glad your first experience was chill. I wouldn’t get to worried about k/d ratio. Suppressing fire will help your team tremendously but make you a bigger target. There’s so many instances where getting killed can benefit you as strange as that sounds lol. It can allow you to spawn on new garrison/airhead for assault or defense or.

​@Kozad-86 Yeah, K/D isn't a great indicator of much in the end. Don't let it consume you. In a dedicated class like rifleman or MG, it sure means something. But with other classes you should kind of expect a bad ratio. Commander, SL, Supply, Engi, AT, these classes usually end up eating sh*t from all the running around and traversing more and more dangerous ground during it. When the team needs a spawn, or an enemy airhead and supplies need destroying and you get to be the clutch player that does it, killing becomes less impactful to the team, and dying becomes destiny. The game changes from outshooting to outplay. Each role offers a little a little different flavor to what is important. Learning what those things are and how to do it will likely tank your K/D. 😅

@@gonzo5648 true that, its been a steep learning curve but iv very much learnt that there is no run and gun here. Iv moved from MG to assault mainly as it gives me grenades which are insane in this game but also I feel more effective when pushing objectives 😁

I good as it is for the game that there are now new players who are getting to experience HLL. I will miss the time when there was probably around 500 players on consistently. It truly made for some great moments when you’d be playing with the same lobby day after day after day. Honestly the worst part about the large influx of players is that it’s simply too many too fast. I hardly see the guys who were around level 200 anymore. And I doubt they still play either, perhaps not all for the same reasons though. I suppose the best thing for me and the other guys that have been around for a while is to take up those leadership roles and help show the rookies how things work. The same way we were shown.

yeah, with HLL being added to GP it's become a lot tougher. no comms up for the new players, a majority of them don't play to their roles (i.e. AT, engineers or support) hoping it changes with time.

I'm not sure Lancaster's got as far as Africa, the most prolific British warplanes there were Spitfires and Hurribombers a development of the Hurricane used as tank busters.

I have also fixed some audio issues by starting an Xbox party switching to game chat and then leaving the party. Just something else to try if still having an issue.

Videos like these are the reason why level 3 game pass players keep creating a recon squad at the beginning of matches... Then leaving when they figure out their gun doesn't have a scope!!!

I just got to play it for the first time. Love it and hate it at the same time. Fun and very realistic to me. Esp with my first few kills, see a guy running, line it up and fire and he just drops. Still learning how to be effective and still get kills without dieing myself XD

You’ll learn. Not because it’s easy, but because it seems like you want to. Try to join squads that have a higher level squad leader and communicate with them as much as possible, hopefully they are willing to teach you the ropes. Also, look up game tutorials on KZread, no shame in it.

Love seeing people complain that this game is on game pass and the competition is low right now. How about being patient and letting new users get better so there’s way more activity in this game? Buncha damn gatekeepers in here

Unlearn anything you may have learned from COD or BF if you play those. forget party chat, use in game comm's, stick with your squad, listen to your squad leader & coordinate you're efforts with them to get things done. This game relies on strong communication, team work. At 1st don't just pick any role because in this game roles really do have specific tasks that the rest of the squad & team depend upon you for, like building resource nodes, garrisons, outposts & defenses. You must defend when it's time to defend & push only when it's time to push. Perhaps start with a simple role such as Rifleman, the community are pretty cool & will help you if you ask questions & they will show you the ropes. Also there are plenty of tutorial videos here on YT that pretty much cover every aspect of how to properly play HLL, it's not just run & take points like in a game of conquest....Can't emphasize enough the importance of using comms to communicate, working together & coordinating efforts & building nodes & garrison's. Hope this genuinely helps you a bit......Welcome to Hell.

when you are first playing you should stick to the riflemen class for a while until you are comfortable with the mechanics also find a squad with mics and stick together that makes the game 10 times easier

As a rule of thumb, learn the specific tasks of each role & there are tonnes of tutorials out there explaining in depth, their purpose, which roles need to coordinate efforts with one another in order to build garrisons, outpost's, nodes, defenses etc. You can find tutorials for this game about everything. Learn to understand the map & what it's many symbols mean. Also don't be afraid to learn on the fly, if you communicate you will find many veteran players will be more than happy to help you learn, the community is great like that, if you are unsure then ask questions in game. Communication, team work & coordinating efforts via in game comms is vital. Keep with it & you will pick it up mate. Once you pick up the basics & gain an understanding of how the game should be played, it will open up for you & you'll love it.

So I'm confused, is this game crossplay with Console games pass? In my matches yesterday basically everyone was level one and had a controller icon next to their name. Is that just an icon to show that they're on PC gamepass? Or does this mean they are on xbox using a controller?

Crossplay between consoles, PC only has crossplay between PC gamepass and Steam. The controller icon was the developers' idea to differentiate Steam and Gamepass. Just another little thing in a long, long list of WTF moments by T17.

Having this drop on gamepass now and me looking at biggest complaints being comms, i can't, just had a bad chest infection all i do is cough, and you don't want that.

No one talks in the game it's crazy. I like it but it just random people running around mute every game.. Maybe it is the gamepass drop but I'll revisit maybe once it calms down

Many of these GP newby's have mentioned or claimed that they are playing on old gen like Xbox One via cloud. What they are saying is the can play it, but cannot install it via cloud & also that it won't allow them to use comms like the rest of us, hence the silence.

Maxed out officer in like 2 months and haven’t played another game since. It’s such a good game and ultimately I’m excited for all the new players who will put the same time and effort in

I’m new, but I love this game and the teamwork that it takes to actually accomplish a victory. I find that people are glad that I’m willing to learn, but I’m always afraid to ask question because I’m afraid of looking like an idiot. I’m glad that most players seem to be very friendly though.

If the teams are both good, 90 minutes. With all the new, clueless but also non-communicating guys in there: usually less than 30 minutes.

If I have PS5, can I crossplay with my friend who has an Xbox One? I know next-gen consoles can play together but am unsure if next-gen can play with older consoles.

The biggest issue is that new players, even when they don't use a microphone, often do not listen to what is being said to them, despite having speakers. I am understanding and often just want to offer good advice, but they still don't listen, and that is frustrating.

Exactly man. It’s so hard trying to get newcomers to take solid advice. So many times I try to tell an MG that he needs to start suppressing a specific area in 3-4 round bursts so we can push across and take them out. They don’t care, they’ll sit there and not fire unless they get the chance to get a kill. Gentle reminders, “hey you’re a suppressive weapon, keep the enemies head down so we can push ahead.” “Fire some rounds, give me cover fire so I can get into the next trench.” Met with dead silence and not a single shot fired…

Quite a few of these GP new players in HLL groups on facebook claim that they via the cloud they are able to play using Xbox One, they claim that they can play via cloud on old gen but they aren't able to install the game & also that it won't let them use coms whether it's for them to speak or hear. Many of these new people have not made the upgrade to Series X or S yet. The game must run like ass on cloud. Didn't think last gen could play it but turns out they can at least play it, but like i said it runs like garbage for them.

Like with the new influx in players I don’t think they have enough servers or had enough prep for how many people were going to get the game because serves have been quite bad and unsteady since the move to GP

Having said that, i'm stoked that the game is growing, come across some decent new comers that are eager to learn & i am noticing an improvement in some of their skill which is also great. I try to help them as much as i can, shit i been playing for 2 years & never stop learning lol. It's more the numpty's that you see on the map trying to cap a locked objective that burn my ass

Hearing them get excited and say how it’s so nice to have a squad that talks instead of dead silence they’ve been hearing from 2-3 games prior is always nice. Try my hardest to help them out and give them tips and such. Nearly hitting triple digits on the amount of in game time I’ve put into this game counting by days.

I've only played this game for like 4 hrs. Pretty fun to wax people in a light tank

The biggest issue with new players is their lack of understanding how the game works. I’m all for new guys but when they aren’t communicating or assume that they know what they are doing it ruins it. I was getting yelled at by noobs while I was playing commander cuz they thought I should’ve been dropping a bombing run for them to attack a point….. we were playing defense.

I had a game as recon, the sniper wouldn’t talk but I saw he would listen and use icons, so I used icons as well and we had a decent run. I am not saying that mic ain’t better though but I wouldn’t?t agree on mandatory.

Please don't take sniper compilations on KZread as any guideline of what Recon is supposed to do, though. If you just want to camp and snipe, go Rifleman and leave the Recon class to the people who know what they are doing.

Most frustrating part is playing with buds but not being able to fill a squad. Leaving it open so a few randoms fill in to hopefully help out. Warfare maps are nearly unplayable unless you dedicate the good people (your buddies) as defense. So many times we are playing defense, building up the backup point and keeping airheads and enemy spawns/supplies from being usable to attack us… and then one guy who is quiet the entire game gets upset because he can’t use the OP to attack the objective. Starts throwing a fit because our squad, the only squad playing defense, isn’t throwing ourselves at the objective. Then they try to talk smack about how we aren’t doing anything important towards the game…. Such a struggle.

The only disappointing thing I find is the movement just feels terrible and the FOV on Xbox

Hate that bait and switch…There should be a penalty if you switch out of SL when you start up a squad. Maybe lvl deduction on your classes or just get kicked from the game.

How do you measure skill though, at least on PC? Player level? With some farming, I can get you a Level100 player with zero game experience in less than a weekend.

How are you still this bad at the game?

This game is trash, cant see anything, the movement and aiming is clunky as hell and theres just no structure to the game. You take your time, move slowly to get shot from behind or from someone miles away to where you cant even see. Games shit, wish it was better but it'll be dead soon.
