Hokkaido Backcountry Club operate a 6 run day heliski package from the town of Kimobetsu. This is a short 40 minute drive away from the international resort of Niseko.
The heliski terrain is on Mt Shiribetsu, an 1,107 meter volcano, with steep lines and open swathes around its flanks. Typical of the other mountains in the area, the mountain is also covered with nicely spaced silver birch forest.
The vertical for each run is around 650 meters, which means that you are guaranteed 3,000 meters of skiing for the day.
The day comes complete with professional guiding and safety instuctions, snow safety equipment such as beacon, probe and shovel.
The trip includes transportation to and from your accommodation.
This is a guided day that I did for Hokkaido Backcountry Club. I was impressed by the terrain and the professional service of the operation. The highlight is skiing and riding the amazing powder that Niseko is famous for, on some of the steepest terrain in the area.

ヘリスキーのコースは標高1,107mの尻別岳にあり、急斜面と広大な山肌が特徴です。この地域の他の山々と同様に、山はきれいに配置された銀白樺の森に覆われています。
各ゲレンデの垂直度は約650mで、1日に3,000mの滑走が保証されていることになる。
プロのガイドと安全指導、ビーコン、プローブ、シャベルなどの雪上安全装備も完備しています。
