That thing is absolutely mental. driving an aquatic jet with an actual jet is poetic. Does it cavitate? Can't imagine the driven section can keep up with that heli engine at full tilt.

why is there no information on this anywhere on the internet at all? you somehow put a jet engine on a boat and only made one video of it to post here?

I can see as it gets up to plane, more than 1/4th of the boat is still in the water. Wonder if it would go faster with a hydro-foil

The smoke may be caused by the original engine used to get the thing away from people before lighting it up. Howard Arneson (the industrialist from Marin County, CA) used to run around San Francisco Bay, the California Delta, and Clearlake CA in jet boats. They had one or two outboard motors that could be raised from the water to get them away from the dock before lighting the jet. I doubt the video is fake.

is the boat using thrust or is the turbine spinning a water jet/propeller?

I’m guessing now one saw the two stroke engine smoke coming from the back of the boat? The “helicopter engines” is just for show. The bass boat just slowed down so it made it looked like it was going fast.

It's not filmed very well, it's obviously an old vid, so before the days of Go-pro, and it's pointless as every time the jet boat accelerates, it goes out of view. A camera on the jet boat would have been a much better idea. Waste 8 mins elsewhere.

Well, what did you expect?

I suppose piston driven engines just werent loud enough or used enough fuel for his liking. But it looks fake. In fact the audio is obviously faked

Sounds pretty real to me notice towards the end of the video how the sound goes away from you just as the boat does. Its real and I think I have to build one for myself.

The propulsion is fake but the engine is strapped to the back and it’s running, though probably jut at idle to look cool and push some air around. But the original 2 stroke motor is still working as you can see the smoky exhaust in the beginning of the video and it’s also not very fast. A t58 makes around 1250 hp, much much more than the hull was ever designed to be stable at
