A bit late to reply to your comment, I guess.. but anyway.. I am Norwegian, and the words bring tears to my eyes. Its a song about the homeland. She is far away, and she longs back and wants to come back home some time. There are some who hate us for it, but most of us have very strong feelings for our country. I see that you are from the US, and as far as I can tell, you people over there feel the same way about your country. So, I guess you can relate to the lyrics.

Listen, this is "healthy" nationalism. To love your country is a good thing, the nature, the beauty, the seasons, what previous generations achieved, fought and died for, freedom lost, freedom won. We will never forget, and must never forget. But the second you think you are inherently superior to other countries/people you go down a road that leads to hell, and betray what so many died for not so long ago. I welcome most immigrants to Norway. It enriches a culture in ever motion. I am proud of all e.g. Pakistanis and what they have achieved and that they also love this little country on the outskirts of the world. Granted, there's always some problems with the first generation, but they are far far from home too. Still, they choose to stay. Thank you.

I respect the rights of all people to preserve their culture, but mass immigration simply is not the answer. What makes Norway Norway is Norwegians- a people who have occupied, cultivated, and built that land and culture for thousands of years. Please do not throw away your rich heritage due to such naivety. Encourage Pakistanis (or whosoever they may be) to fight the oppression in their countries, not cause suppression in your country.
