Helen Zille: Down to the wire getting GNU done - now we must exercise patience for it to work

At BNC#2 in September 2021, DA Federal Chair Helen Zille predicted the ANC would lose its majority in 2024. At the time, most observers thought it was wishful thinking. But Zille was deadly serious, and her party has done a lot of work over the past three years preparing for SA’s new Government of National Unity, which brings the promise of a new bright chapter for the Young Democracy. Sealing the deal, however, was touch and go. In this fascinating interview where she unpacks where SA is now and what lies ahead, Zille shares that the GNU was a close-run thing, only helped over the line by unwitting EFF, which demanded a break to caucus ahead of the crucial first vote. She spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

A message I pray Helen gets. She says it is easy to be seen, to fix potholes, fix lights, paint signs, etc. I live in Pretoria, run by the DA. In my area I see no change. No visibility. And when I mention this, locally, the councellors say, "but we are fighting hard in the meetings". The voters don't sit in the meetings, so from our point of view, we don't see change. I've been waiting so long to see visible change. Helen, please do in Pretoria what you did in the Cape. You have had years now.

I feel confident that the DA will not play the games of brinkmanship that the EFF and MK are so inclined to. The ANC probably felt that the erratic possibilities posed by the posturing of Zuma and Malema were more of a problem than the organizational approach of the DA.

There is ONE article in the Constitution that needs to be removed pronto. The Constitution (which is a POLITICAL document), explicitly ALLOWS the government to create ANY ordinary laws to achieve the eradication of so-called "historical inequality", hence we have utterly discriminatory laws (aimed exclusively at whites, of course) such as those allowing for BBBEE, AA and for land expropriation without compensation. Under the pretense of “achieving equality” (Clause 9 (2) of the Bill Of Rights) the government is allowed to do ANYTHING or create ANY laws to achieve or facilitate ANYTHING they wish. Frankly, should they so wish, the government can have your false teeth for "redistribution" tomorrow because the Constitution explicitly allows for such a law to be created in order to “achieve equality”. The Constitutional Court (of which the judges are and have been approved and appointed by the African National Congress’ cadre deployment committee) will ALWAYS (and has already done so on many occasions) allow the ANC government to oppress and suppress ANYONE if it serves the Constitution's implicit, discriminatory, POLITICAL goal of achieving socialist "equality". Hence the Court never endorses singular, numbered RIGHTS supposedly guaranteed by the Constitution, but always states that the Constitution has to be considered and applied "in its totality" (always with the SINGULAR aim of discrimination against minorities in pursuit of rectifying "historical inequality"). The Constitution therefore is a fraudulent document not worth the bytes it occupies on computer hard drives or the paper it may be printed on, as it does not protect ALL people’s rights EQUALLY and FAIRLY. It is a political document aimed at achieving a specific political and social doctrine and society.

Why keep blaming the voters that they fragment the opposition by voting for other parties? The question the DA should answer is why is the package the DA serving not appealing to people that they rather vote for other parties. Is that a voter or a DA problem? Interesting that Cilliers Brink is praised for doing a great job - and he is indeed- in Tshwane working against the current corrupt system and people. The question I have, s why did it take the DA so long to get a competent mayor, seeing that they have been the controlling party in Tshwane since 2016? Never say a vote for a small party is a waste as the DA itself was a small party not so long ago.

Perhaps if her party did not push ungodly principles such a transgender issues in public schools (as in the Cape), abortions and LGBTQ+, more Christians might have voted for the DA.
