Roundtables are back! Tune in Monday, May 23rd for the premiere of The Hollywood Reporter’s 2016 Emmy Roundtable season, and every day after for new Roundtable videos. Who do you want to see on this season’s Roundtables? Tell us in the comments below!
Helen Mirren speaks of her reflections on the London public transit, the roadblocks young women of Hollywood encounter, and playing a historical figure in the 2015 British drama 'Woman In Gold', "Of course it's different [playing a real person], because you have a responsibility to look like them, and sound like them, and maybe walk like them, and use your hands like them, but the essential journey is exactly the same really as with a fictional character, which is a journey of imagination, and the journey of telling the story." Mirren has won an Oscar for Best Actress for her role in 'The Queen' and has amassed a total of 116 nominations throughout her career. In 'Woman In Gold' she stars alongside actor Ryan Reynolds, better known for his leading role in the new superhero comedy 'Deadpool'.

It's one of my dreams: Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren and Charlotte Rampling together! The three started to act in movies in 1960s and the three are fluent in french.

I may be wrong, but she doesn't look natural to me, looks a bit frozen, I hope I'm wrong actually
Wise words from the beautiful Helen mirren!
She reminds me of a young Helen Mirren...
Jennifer Lawrence looks like how Helen Mirren did when she was young

Where's my money Leather sound is annoying
I mean
Jennifer Lawrence and Cate Blanchett have the exact same weird look when they are listening to others. Is J-Law taking notes from Cate Blanchett. Seems like it.

Yusuf Quraishi yeah, sorry, too 'cause I found it already. It's on their website =) Should've removed my question, but got lazy. Now it would just seem to stupid to remove my original question since our conversation has gone on.... Take care, xx
every segment he asks about women. you wouldnt ask that of the male actors. Stick to being equal and ask normal questions about roles and not about gender

+rhea mangles Bravo, you are allowed to express your opinion and shouldn't be shut down by others.
Inb4 no women of color
i don't like how every conversation has to turn into male bashing sessions. maybe a woman didn't get the role because she wasn't good enough

+roter13 They're trying to highlight the gender imbalance in Hollywood, not bash anyone. Thinking that casting isn't largely affected by patriarchal structures is naive. We can only solve inequalities that we talk about and hear about.

+roter13 You can't audition for a part that isn't provided to you. They are written for men, she is asking why you can't write these roles for a woman.

+roter13 We are talking about women's roles, not men's roles in this instance. Why always bring up the "who's got it worse?" crap?
Any guy who can show me one of these videos where they don't bash men gets million dollars from me
