@PhantomFilmAustralia No in that case Tyson is just trying to give context by comparing things to something people can understand . People do the same when the compare something to football fields or the weight of X amount of cars or as tall as X amount of Empire state buildings. It's pretty a common way to help people conceptualize a size. In this case it's a failure to use the most appropriate unit of measurement. And in te case of the video they use the most appropriate unit but but use a smaller unit when they are already using the lager unit. Normally when you use a unit you use that unit until you run its maxed out then go to the next smaller one, either ft to inches or ft to a decimal would make sense. But throwing in inches when you still have enough to make another foot is weird. Or using months when you have multiple years is weird. I'll say this, I have heard athletes, especially basketball players say thing like he's 6 ft 14, but that is just a joke to imply he plays like a smaller quicker guy, with speed and skill rather than a lumber giant.

I was about to make this same reply. Glad I checked first! I've twice visited his grave, his family's plot, on Long Island. It's something how there are so many very short frontmen. Men under 5' 7" are fairly uncommon, generally. Maybe there's a Napoleon Complex that gets these guys to want to prove themselves or control perceptions. Lots of very short male actors, too.

Yep, Ronnie James Dio was a little guy, but a very gracious man with huge talent. I met Dio in person at an autograph session in 1984, not only did he give me his autograph, but I asked to take a picture with him, and he nicely obliged. I remember he got out of his chair, stood next to me, and the picture was taken. I still have the photo to this day. RIP to Ronnie James Dio. Arguably the best Rock singer ever.

I've met Chuck. He's about 6'1" - 6'2". I also shook his hand and the other commenter is right: huge hands. He also refused my request for an autograph. 'Naw man, I only sign autographs for chicks.' LOL, true story. And the story is better than the autograph. This list mentions Brad Delp who was more like 5'11" but doesn't mention who by far is the tallest musician I've ever met: Tom Scholz. Despite all of the bad things I've heard about Tom, he couldn't have been nicer. I would say he's about 6'6".

Dave is the only man in the world that can be 5'12''. Just because hes Dave.

As I mentioned in another comment, this list is way off. I knew Brad Delp and he was no 5'6" - more like 5'11". I've met Peter Wolf a number of times and he's not 5'11". He is more like 6'1" - 6'2".

It is funny how so many singers who I would expect to be tall are actually short, and a few that I thought were short are actually tall.

Ronnie was about 5'5" and looked even shorter on stage. Allen Collins, Leon Wilkerson and Gary Rossington would wear boots and Ronnie would be bare foot making him look really short.

Really surprised by the small size of Roger DALTREY (The WHO). I have seen him on stage twice from a rather short distance. He looked much taller than 1.65 meters (and very athletic).

The three Beatles were all between 179 cm and 180 cm, Paul being slighty taller the the other two. I met Eric Clapton in person and I think he is around 175 cm, maybe less. Same with Mick Jagger, shorter than that

Maybe. But Paul made the claim himself towards the film Nowhere Boy which mentions about his height "I've not seen it yet. I saw some early rushes of it and the whole thing came off well. But I want to tell Sam Taylor-Wood off as I hear that my character is not as tall as John - I'm not having that! Both of us are 5ft 10 and a half!". So would a 5ft 11½" man claim 5ft 10½"? I'm willing to bet good money that Robert Plant is no longer 6'2" any longer, though he still is pretty tall for his age. Gotta account for those high heeled snakeskin boots he always wore as well. Not sure if he still wears those things?

We have Robin and Barry Gibb and George Michael on this list, and it is very generous to call this musicians rock singers. I met Joey too. Granted I was 5 and wan even tinyer than I am now (4'10"). But I was standing next to him and he was so tall. I guess I said to him " wow you're really tall!" So he said "wow you're really short!" I then told him I liked him and he laughed and said he liked me too. So he was really nice to my 5 year old self and dad thought it was great.

I knew Brad Delp. He was about 5’11”. I’ve met Peter Wolf a number of times. I would put him at about 6’1” or 6’2”. In every Beatles photo I’ve ever seen, Paul is taller than John yet he’s listed as shorter. I’ve met Joe Strummer a number of times and 5’8” may be accurate but I’d say more like 5’7”. I wouldn’t put too much stock in these numbers.

Susanna Hoffs, Tina Turner and Kate Bush, despite their physical stature, stand tall, same as Simone Biles.

Ronnie james dio. One of the smallest guys on the list, but he's got the mightiest voice by far.

I have stood next to Freddy Mercury at a record signing and he was only about 5' 3". A tall dwarf.

I am 5’0 and I have met Glenn Danzig, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, several members of Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Maynard James Keenan, (is not 6’1, he’s shorter) and several other people. Iggy Pop is very short, but he’s more that one inch taller than me. Glenn is a few inches taller than me. I have always thought he might be a little taller than what everyone says. I had photos of us standing next to each other and I’m noticeably shorter. Till Lindemann is shorter than he seems but huge in width. Oliver is like 7 feet tall. Alice Cooper I believe is shorter than what it says here.

I have to say that this list is a bit of a mess. There are singers here whose heights are completely off, i.e. Paul McCartney, Stephen Stills, Dave Grohl is mentioned twice on the list, there are heights out of sequence, and you've even got 5'12" as a height on it somehow! If human hands were responsible for assembling this list, I would be surprised. Edit: also how did Neil Young not make it onto here? I know he's not the best singer, but his songwriting work definitely deserves a spot on this list.

This list is for singers.

I like the Dave Grohl 5'-12". I love telling the DMV that my height is 5'-12" when asked. They're to stupid to figure that out when the drop-down window only shows 6'-0".

As many of us humans tend to shrink as we get older I'm wondering if this their height today or at their tallest?

Maynard is 6''1". That would make Danny Carey 8'4". That's one big drummer

Mick Jagger is 5'6" if that at his age. I ended up in an elevator he was in and was shocked at how small he was. Very. Small!!

Not sure about several of these measurements.

For Freddie, his band was named. TOTAL RESPECT to the GOAT of rock!

I've never heard of someone being 5'12"....... that's a very unique height that not many people can claim

I'm 5'12" myself, however, my driver's license has 6'0'.

Some of these are quite wrong - proves you can't believe everything on the internet.

Mick Jagger is not 5ft 10, according to melody maker in 1970 he is 5ft 7

I dont think Maynard James Keenan is over 6ft tall. I think you'll find he's a lot shorter

Never realised Roger Daltrey was so short or Brian Wilson so tall. You can't tell on TV.
