Thanks for the heads up on this, I was just about to order a set of bellows from Hegner for my old Multicut SE, so that's quite a saving & looks better.

Thank you for commenting David. In fairness I should say than a poster in the UK workshop Forum reckons that they are not as good as the original Hegner version in the amount of puff or blow expelled and he may well be right. But mine seems to work perfectly well and I notice no different from the Hegner one I replaced, but maybe the Hegner one being 20yrs old was inefficient. Anyway I would still recommend the one in the video, it works for me.

Thanks for the information. Always useful to know of options when the bellows gives in. I also heard people have used a car CV joint boot successfully but I would rather use something which has been designed for the job. Thanks for sharing this. Col.

Thanks Col, quite a few people have mentioned the CV joint boot, I had not thought of one to be honest.

Always nice to find a bargain. At first I thought, "I wonder if a CV joint boot could be made to fit that." Then when the eBay version popped up I thought "that looks awfully like a CV joint boot!" For folks looking for an even cheaper solution CV boots come as low as a fiver. You might need the application of a bit of duct tape by way of a sealant but if you're looking for a 'doorstep method' it might be worth looking into. Cheers John and thanks for sharing.

Hi Gary thanks for the comment, you could buy one from Hegner if you have £61.58 to throw away! (utterly ridiculous price) alternately do a search on ebay where you will find lots from £2.99 Search for "water oil coolant pipe" . Here is one reliable UK seller who offers lots of lengths from £3.99. just search on ebay for 224766340688 hope this helps.

Hi Thank you for your very helpful videos. I am as to Scroll saw hobby and i am enjoying. I noticed your white pipe/tube runs over you Hegner top arm. Have you added this yourself or is it part of Hegner design. Kind regards Norman

Hello Norman, thanks for your kind comment. The pipe is how it was supplied with the saw, it also came with a way of sucking up the sawdust rather than the blower but I have mine set up with the blower only. The latest models have a different pipe.

@@scrimperuk I’m going to fasten a Jubilee clip around the top narrow section to see if it will blow. If it doesn’t work I’ll buy one from the eBay site you mentioned. Can you recommend a tutor within Lancashire for private lesson. I’m deaf but with sone hearing so my tutoring will have to be one to one

Hi John, I have recently picked up a second Hegner Multicut SE which is in good condition but has no airline connected to the bellows. Looking at your machine it looks like you have a simple tube held in place by a cable tie? Is the tube anything special or would a length of clear plastic (wine making) tube be ok? Have you sealed the joint or shaped the end which connects into the tray under the bellows at all? Thanks for the various videos on fret working and their history which I have been watching over the last few days and found really interesting. Kind Regards Richard

Hello Richard, many thanks for your comment and for watching my videos. In regard to your question about the blower tube; what you see is how it was supplied by Hegner UK when I bought the machine 22yrs ago, it came with an extra fitting to use for suction but I never use it. Wine making tube would be fine and you don't need to seal it, the tube is cut off at an angle to improve 'flow' and is just pushed into the hole. I did find that mine was popping out after a while so I just wrapped a little tape around it to tighten it. Some people use those little aquarium air pumps which may be more efficient? You can see one in another of my videos on the diamond fretsaw. If you have any further questions please feel free to ask or you can ask in the UK woodworking forum {scrollsaw section) link is in the titles ( I am a member there).

Hi Rob, my saw is a Multicut2S variable speed, bought it De 1999 and the cost was £436.00. It was a lot to pay at the time but worth every penny. When you get your first Hegner you know that it will last you a lifetime, a rare thing these days.

i bought that item and it doesnt create as much air as old ones due to being soft and requireing more movement the compress the bellow which he saw doesnt do. work better if it was stiffer to push air quicker.

Thanks for your input Gordon, I agree that this bellows is softer than the original and if I am honest I did wonder about how efficient it would be having the same thoughts about it's softness compared to the original as you did. However it does seem to do it's job on my Hegner but I don't doubt that you are correct that it moves less air.
