I believe I was one of the viewers who may have complained that some videos did not show the finished product, so it seems the squeaky wheel got the grease in this case. You give me confidence to make this useful little sock. My mother bought me a vintage Autoknitter last year, and I should confess that I am somewhat afraid of using it. My first attempts were disastrous and I couldn't work out why until I discovered that the machine had been misused and all the needles and/or the latches were bent from very tight tension and improper yarn carrier adjustment which had even caused score marks from the carrier being so close to the needles. This was such a disappointment after the ordeal of buying the machine online for too much money, and having it very slowly shipped to Australia, that I have been too discouraged to try again. I ordered new needles which also took ages to arrive. So I am watching all the videos I can find from you which are so helpful and inspiring me to be brave enough to get going again. I wonder whether this sock could be made toe up, then finished off by hanging the hem of the heel tab and cuff, which would not show as it would be on the inside, but would mean no Kitchener stitch required? On the other hand, making the sock this way means you can continue making a long string of socks with the waste yarn separating each one instead of having to cast on each time. But is it possible to combine both methods? Knitting a few rows of waste yarn after hanging the hem on the cuff, then starting on the next toe? There is probably a good reason I haven't thought of why you cannot do that.
