Thanks for reminding me Lee 😀, spot on, born in 1970. In fact I’m getting that old I am now moaning about the so called music nowadays……

What a fantastic video. Thank you for making and sharing with us. I was struggling to choose between the NC500 and the Hebridean Way for the next adventure. I will eventually do both but the Hebridean Way wins for now. Thanks

lovely. I've been fortunate to cycle in the Hebrides a couple of times. This brought back many happy memories. if the weather's good, there's nowhere better to be on a bike.

Thanks for the feedback. Agree, the Outer Hebrides are awesome, they were just made for cycling.

Didn't have my bike but stayed with friends at Luskentyre in May. Worth the journey up alone - but it is like paradise in places.

Worth pointing out to anyone planning this that Citylink buses now carry up to two bikes in the hold, if booked in advance, on Ullapool-Inverness and Skye (Uig) to Kyle-FW- Glasgow, or Portree to Inverness. They provide bike socks and it's free. The online booking process could be clearer, look for 'extra luggage'. As a Skye resident I would not contemplate cycling the A87 - a narrow and very busy trunk road. There is no alternative route - this road carries all traffic through Skye. A cycle path from Broadford to Kyle is under development, but it will take time.

That’s excellent information regarding Citylink Mark, thanks for that. Would have used that myself if I had known on this return.

Very much enjoyed watching this but, as I'm hoping to ride it next spring, it would be very useful to know some idea of accommodation, return to your transport at Oban, obtaining supplies along the route etc.

Thanks for the feedback Pete, glad you enjoyed it. I stayed in hotels in Castlebay, Orasay, Tarbert and Doune Braes near Carloway. Obviously it would depend on your planning what distance per day etc suits. If I can give one bit of advice, allow plenty of spare cycling capacity as when there is a headwind, it will be a strong headwind. I was blessed with a tailwind until the final 30miles to the Butt of Lewis which was very strong headwind, so much so, as my next accommodation was Ullapool, I treat myself to a taxi back to Stornoway in time for the ferry. I should perhaps have stayed in Stornoway and taken the morning ferry. With regards to the journey back to Oban, I actually used trains to Oban and back from Inverness (cycling down from Ullapool) to save having to go back to Oban. It did add a days travel but was worth it. In previous trips I have returned from Tarbert to Uig on Skye and cycled via Mallaig Fort William and back to Oban. Also consider from Lochailort back down by Strontian to the Lochaline/Fishnish ferry on Mull then back to Oban. Brilliant scenery. Supplies will be fine as there are regular shops, coffee stops etc except for Sundays. Best wishes with your trip.
