@MissDumyat actually snow on the roof can help quite a lot so long as you clear it off the 1st 6 inches above your windscreen because for rear wherls drive vehicles like the van the weight of the snow pushes down on the back wheels, giving a little bit more traction, and that little bit may just be enough to get you where you need to go!!

Scandinavia they do and Russia as they are geared up for harsh wintry weather. For instance Windsor, Toronto or Buffalo, is more like likely to cope with heavy snow than cities like Vancouver or Victoria etc, but Toronto has had little snow according to friends in North York & Danforth! UK's climate is temperate like south west BC! [we have Atlantic Gulf stream]

It's alot of snow for a city that never drops below freezing all year.

Unfortunately cars in teh UK are not all four wheel drive and do not have winter tires as you maybe aware. Neither do we have heated runways! Imagine Vancouver or Victoria getting over a foot of snow would they be able to cope?!

Should have heated roads which would stop all this nonsense dead in its tracks.

Anyway, I am heading towards calgary next week on business and vacation, Whats it been like in Prairies, because Calgary is known for it's Chinook winds and huge temperature swings I remember 21C at Chinook Mall in t-shirts then cam out to temperatures of 1C with snow then fell to -2C when I went back to Brentwood and Dalhouise! I heard it has been chinooks and dry? I may go to Kelowna BC!

@midnight69ers Wow posted that comment a bit of a time ago, but I get what you are saying but for most drivers they need to clear anything above them, if they brake even slightly as the mass above them warms up with the heat of the car it can slide down the windscreen and blind them - I would rather get to where I wanted to go safely than with risk. If the car isn't up to the job without a mass of snow on it - don't start the van, car or whatever... not safe - don't do it.

To the stuck van in the middle of the video. Let some air out of those tire and you'll have better traction.
