HEAVY RAIN Bombardier Challenger 300 Flight to Nassau

Flying The Bombardier Challenger 300 private jet to Nassau Bahamas. Due to the heavy rain, low ceilings and visibility we fly delaying vectors and have to do an IFR approach into the Nassau Lynden Pindling International Airport. Lots of ATC audio and the shows the pilot cockpit view of the takeoff and landing during the flight. These vlogs show you what it's like flying as a corporate pilot in the world of general aviation.

    I watch tons of flight channels/vids and one thing I've always wondered about is while pilots go through all their checklists it's always "check", "checked", "confirmed", "check" etc. The question is....what if during one of these checklists the pilot or copilot notices something seriously wrong.....what do they say? I assume it's not "Oh Sh*t". What's the command word and sequence of action?

  • @Visonista

    @Visonista

    4 жыл бұрын

    It is usually a description of the situation. For example, if the flaps were left at 10° and not retracted, one might say the check item 'Flaps Retracted' and then upon verifying their status say something like 'Negative, flaps still at 10, retracting now'.

  • @jdkgcp

    @jdkgcp

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@Visonista I was honestly hoping for something more dramatic like "RED, RED, RED!" Because it would be way more exciting. But all jokes aside I would have thought there would be a single command word for a major failure or error. And maybe it's just me being overly logical....but shouldn't there be? It's all "checked" and "confirmed" but no words for when it's not?

  • @Visonista

    @Visonista

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@jdkgcp Following your reasoning, when the words 'check' or 'confirmed' are used, they are immediately preceded by a description of the item being checked, therefore it is also logical to enunciate the condition of the item being checked should it fail to be as required. Regarding a more 'dramatic' response to non-conforming checklist items, we need to remember that the checklist is not really a 'test' of procedure, but an integral part of it, meaning that if an item has not yet been selected (or deselected) the opportunity to do so is made available during the check, and which is the very function of a checklist. In other words, an item which is identified as having been neglected does not constitute an emergency but merely something which must now be addressed.

    You just tell the people at the FBO how many gallons of jet A you want and whether you want it positive or negative(anti-ice agent).

    @@captmoonbeam question, without a type rating, what kind of time do you log? are you legal to log SIC without an SIC type? I'm at 1300TT and have some friends flying jets that want me to fly right seat but I'm not sure how I would log it.
