That latest Abysmal Grief album reignited my interest in the band. Really good when you're in the mood

Well, now you have done it. You've made my "Enemies" list! I had Sacred Outcry in my cart and by the time I checked out it was gone. I blame you! 🤣 I hit this sale pretty hard too. 50% off is too good to pass up. I was a good boy for the most part and got stuff I really wanted. The exception was Bell Witch. That was a "well, it's only $6" purchase. Fun to see what you picked up. Cheers Alan (my new arch nemesis)!

That Dead Congregation CD is a good one. I recall used copies selling for $30 or so. Glad to hear it's more affordable again.

@@letstalkmetal Yeh, I had considered selling mine but I liked it too much. Now I see on the band's Bandcamp page you can get the album on multiple formats. What surprises me are the CDs that I bought new just 4-5 years ago that are already OOP and going up in price. I guess the print runs are shrinking even for the more popular bands.

1 little cd, HAHA Alan you almost had me fooled, enjoy all 14.

I almost jumped on this sale, but somehow mustered the fortitude to resist the cd bargains. Left Cross and Stargazer are both good bands. I think you will dig them.

Great haul there Alan. And remember, you technically just bought 6,5 albums due to the discount, hehe. Necroceros is one of my favorite Asphyx albums, killer album. That Bell Witch is just to slow, and that coming from a man who loves funeral doom...... Stargazer is killer, they are balancing everything very well, so have no fears. Would be very surprised if you don't enjoy that one. Cheers. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

StarGazer sounds cool on 1st impression and the Asphyx is really great! I do like the way you do the album math; 6.5 sounds much easier to work through. Does that mean i need to order more soon? :)

I don’t think asphyx don’t have a bad record. The albums without Martin are pretty underrated and idk why some people act like they are blaze maiden albums . God Cries is one of my favorite albums they have ever done.

Thanks for the info Devon. I've always been pleasantly surprised when blind-buying an Asphyx album. Still several I haven't heard.

I guess when it's 50% even the strongest of resolves would crumble alan I currently have a stack of cds sitting in my reservation box at the record shop but it was stuff that doesn't show up used very often so you have to swoop in on a side note about used nuclear blast titles prices tend to go up if the band leaves that label nuclear blast don't often re-press after that

Ah didn't know that about NB's reissue policy. That's unfortunate.

I just can't get into Bell Witch- so slow and one long song, just find it very boring. You give it a full listen yet? Forgot about Left Cross though, will check that out. Magnified metal : )

I'm not nuts about Bell Witch but I don't mind checking them out for cheap. I played it for the first time last night and it made a good first impression.

Excellent video as ALWAYS , for years now !! Has your vinyl or CD fetish changed the way you value metal? Bolstered by the vinyl revival, sites like Discogs have stepped up, as both a complex archive of cultural capital and a stockmarket for economic capital.

Thanks! I honestly never approach Metal or record collecting as any type of financial investment. I just collect the items I like, which usually means the albums that I enjoy musically. But I do try to keep tabs on the value of records so a) I don't over-pay for something and b) so that my family knows what my records are worth in case something ever happens to me.

Nice haul Alan! During the last two or three years I learned how to "bahave" with my buying habits. I´m still a little monkey but I´m not that sick anymore, hahaha... Unaussprechlichen Kulten is actually the right translation but not correct. The original in German is "Von unaussprechlichen Kulten", the band just got rid of the "von" (of/about in English) so the meaning in German got lost.

@@vuzkoth Good question, I don't know. I would guess they at least have someone onboard who is into the Epic stuff since they get good titles in that style and it's not a genre that gets as much attention as Death or Black Metal.

@@letstalkmetal perhaps. From what I understand they priced CDs to be loss leaders to get people through the door and hopefully buy a washing machine along with their 11.99 sting CD. I bet that gave whoever was buying some real breadth to choose various titles. There was a certain sense of discovery when you found an unexpected CD in stock and there would be only 1 on the rack. Who knows… rip I suppose

@@vuzkoth I always thought that sales tactic was crazy but it does work. I know someone who used to sell cars. They would give away free hot dogs and the number of people who came for 1 hot dog and ended up buying a car always blew my mind. How does that happen? "You want mustard with that dog or a Ford?" LOL

Well I got fished in by the 50% off sale too. I think there are 12 or 13 cds on the way now. Lol
