    So, mine are getting a little long in the tooth from using the old girl pretty heavily for about 4-5 years. Now that I'm retired, I don't use it much anymore but any time I can replace plastic with metal AND add a zerk, I'm gonna do it. My order will be there in a few weeks. SO glad I found this channel! Thanks and keep up the good work. 👍

    Thanks, nice video. Love the pit, wish I had one! Some advise the wet bolt grease outlet inside the bushing be installed horizontally, at 3 or 9 o'clock positions. I assume this may be to avoid pressure, as in, if the grease were trying to come out of the bolt when the hole was at the top or bottom where the weight of vehicle is on it causing blockage of grease flow.

    setting the grease fittings horizontally makes sense to me. Most of our pins are threaded or already have the holes clocked so we can never pick the direction of grease flow, but we can on these and I'll definitely think about that in the future.

    Its about time a kit like this was made. I have seen so many of these bolts and bushing wore right out. Didn't see you using Loctite on the threads when installing. I feel this does two things. Keeps road crap out of the threads and prevents loosening down the road.

    I just buy greasable bolts and use them in tandem with the plastic bushing kits. Get 3 times the life out of my suspensions. By that time all the trailer wheels are coming off for brake/bearing/tire inspect and overhaul and a little more forgiving if not greased.

    Do you ever beef up the spring hangers on the trailer frame when you install the heavier shackle staps? The hangers are probably the next weakest link in the setup. Nice work.

  • @simcoespring

    @simcoespring

    Our suppliers do not supply a "heavy duty" hanger. however I have seen welded braces on them to prevent twist. I have welded angle iron from hanger to hanger before to act like a "cross member" to make them more durable. that is about it. I believe that Morride makes a "bolt on" cross member to go from hanger to hanger side to side. it is supposed to make them absorb the twist on the hangers when you turn corners.

    oil, never-seize and other lubricants can make the threads a lot more slippery lowering the torque specs. some Ubolts can take 140 ft lbs but the Ubolt plates are designed for 90 ft lbs....so there is a lot of variance between parts. Dry Ubolts will be 140, oil lubrication is 120 and never seize is 90 (or something close to that)
