Heavy Duty Mercedes Sprinter Put to the Test
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We spent two years working with Whitefeather 4x4 Conversions to upgrade two Mercedes Sprinter 3500 cutaway chassis into heavy-duty off-road machines, and today we put one to the test.
This 144" Sprinter chassis, originally 2WD, had its entire transfer case, axles, and drivetrain replaced with that of a heavy duty 4x4 Ford F350 chassis. It is equipped with a lift kit and now sits six and a half inches higher than stock. Other capabilities include 4x4 low range, locking differential, anti-slip, and more.
Here are some of the upgrades:
- 6.5" lift
- Ford F350 front axle
- Custom front + rear driveshaft
- Ford F350 transfer case
- Ford F350 hub locks
- Cryo disc brake upgrade
- Custom front sway bar
- Ford F350 front shock absorbers made by Bilstein
- Fox rear shock absorbers
- Oversize wheels and tires
- Wider stance than Sprinter with custom rear wheel spacers
We have two of these Sprinter chassis, one a 144" wheelbase and the other a 170", in our possession. They are both available for prospective Advanced RV clients to claim for a custom B Box build. Alternatively, since we have a multi-year backlog, we are also willing to sell them outright to a Do-it-Yourself buyer.

Theres no weight on an open differential chassis. What did you think this would show?
Good try! Better watch Matt’s off road recovery for tips on off roading lol
I am not in a place where I can get one of these now but if I was going to order from you it would on this chassis! My RV dream is the long base Sprinter with better off road capabilities, without sacrificing the road manners and comforts, and custom built by ARV.
Yo ARV, this video was just way too much fun 😂 Awesome real world test video. Love your product! Love this video!
Awesome! Awesome! You did what I have been thinking about for a couple of years. Sprinter pick up. Thanks.

Where can I buy one of those?
Gotta agree with everyone elese - you sure gave it a good go! But yes of course no weight on the rear diff so its a tough one on a mud track.
You need to get Matt's Off road recovery strap...Kenetic force
Cool and thank you ! 🙏
Thank goodness for Rob's YJ. Mike, some weight on the back end and some off road tires would've given you a chance. Not sure if you had the lockers on? I love the concept. Hope to see that best at Moab someday.
Configure it like a Kei Car (Japan mini truck). flat bed, foldable side walls on the bed, 4 wheel drive, some have dump truck features.
I'm glad that your pushing the boundaries and trying new things.... what's the price on the chassis with the conversion?
Would a Ford Transit 2WD model (instead of a Sprinter 2WD model) be easier to covert to 4WD using Ford F350/other parts?
With all those trees a winch could make a difference.

Why are your tail lights like that?
That's a YJ not a TJ. We had fun playing.
Way too light on the rear, tires over inflated and simply the wrong tires. That said,… it looked so wet that it might not have made it up there anyway But I always enjoy watching somebody else. Screw up rather than doing it myself. Makesfor a good TV content 😂
Lol, sort of embarrassing that old TJ had to pull you out.
Where did you buy a van like that? They don't sell that in USA

@@AdvancedRV Yeah, but I don't want a conversion. I just want the Sprinter as is in the video. !44" cab chassis with four tires not six.

Thank you. Just one more thing. What year? I desperately need one.
Build at least a couple out some want 4 wheel drive like that an at least have the option
It's almost 2 wheel drive because there is no weight on the back.
I bet a built out B box would perform better. There was no weight in the rear of the open chassis.
Wrong tires & NO weight on the rear.
Too bad Whitefeather is going out of business. Or do I have it wrong ?

Yep, they stopped doing conversions in September and the company is for sale.
you need to convert a tractor into a RV for that
The simple solution is to just use a Jeep as your toad and bring a strap.
With those particular tires,,its about worthless off the highways.
😂
