Ayo great episode as always! I think it'd be nice to have JoeCrush or Anakin here as well. Interested to hear their opinions given they've grinded a lot of tekken 8 since release. Also, having AK might be nice too if possible. Dude places consistently internationally but never really does interviews or collabs.

12:17 It's so interesting to hear different Player's perspectives. Immediately, CBM has different opinions on the system and the game's mechanics than what we heard in the first Heatspeak Podcast. He said change Heat Burst to be Linear or not be a Power Crush, I don't recall that being brought up by any Players on the first panel. CBM also seems to more err on the side that SuperAkouma was, in that, the systems themselves aren't the problem, but the implementation and balance of said systems. 🤔

KBD didn’t need to be nerfed so much imo while all offensive tools got way stronger so I would like to see it back. Almost everyone has huge safe rewarding mids now (in the form of heat engagers. Kazuya is an example) so I think it’s okay if backwards movement is brought up to standard

51:50 I think removing the knowledge check aspect of variable advantages on different Heat Engagers is quite simple. As a quick example, we could standardize 2 types: a "high" advantage one that is basically the same as the existing ones and a "low" advantage one that is +6 with a different identifiable animation (perhaps a walk instead of a run, perhaps a different camera cinematic, etc).

Some characters benefit way more from heat state than others. Like King already has the highest heat smash base damage in the game, the fact that it still gives a mixup opportunity on block is kinda wild. Meanwhile Kazuya just goes afk after doing his heat smash 😂 I think Jack's heat smash is pretty balanced, 10f startup is hella good but the tradeoff is no mixup on block.

The only thing I want to change in the Tekken 8 system are heatbursts. Basically I want them to be unviable in the neutral by any means necessary, make them punishable, remove the armor and tracking, whatever it takes. The problem isn't the balancing - cause everybody has them - the problem is that heat bursts being totally free creates a lot of time where you basically aren't playing the game. yes, HB looses to lows and throws but they are so fast that its not a reliable counterplay. So if someone wants throw out heatburst into heatsmash once every round they're probably gonna be able to it. Which is maybe 10 to 15 seconds of blocking every round and you can't do shit about it. Might not sound as much but it adds up and gets very boring very fast. Heatengagers are supercool, using heatbursts in combos are fine cause then you have to at least win an interaction with your opponent and earn your heat.

I feel like Nina is not nearly as busted as those two. She still requires the same hard reads from playing her in 7, but she just gets better results from playing her correctly. Edit: yes I was a Nina main during T7 but ive switched off to Lee with Nina as my sweaty tryhard pocket.

That would be really interesting, South Africa's gotten some love in SF6 with the Capcom pro tour but the rest of the continent is still lacking opportunities. Word is their Internet infrastructure is well behind the US's so it's been a struggle with so much of the scene becoming online-based anymore.

It would be very nice to see more non speaking english players on the podcast but of course you're going to need interpreters and some that comes to mind are like you know CBM for Korean, Rangchu + CBM for Japanese or Tissuemon, Sephiblack for German, Arslan for Pakistan like it would be so sick to hear from players who are really great at the game but who don't speak english or much english.

1:04:55 the ➡️ 4 to instant SS2 launcher was nerfed in the first patch. The only thing now that is guaranteed from Nina’s ➡️4,2 string is the heat engager, but the 4 hast to hit. ➡️4 is also steppable and her SS1’s can be checked by low jabs and a lot of pressure she puts out can be checked by power crush moves. The Nina player is strong and the rewards are well deserved. It’s not fair to have to do all of the technical stuff (which is not required of other characters) without receiving any rewards for it.

We went through so much BS in Tekken 7, then people wonder why Nina’s character usage is low? She’s too technical for the average player, which I like. Not everyone can use Nina and I enjoy fighting other Nina’s who have not reached the technical level.

I don't know why people are being toxic and elitist - he is one of the most popular tekken 8 streamers and content creators (doing guides for bandai) - you want people from a casual audience to become more competitive - he is who you bring on. Just like getting Maximilian Dood

Some thoughts as things came up: 1. The heat system itself is a lot of fun. But heat burst, to me, is a bit of a buzzkill. Feels more like a way to circumvent the game's mechanics than a fun mechanic in of itself. 2. Homing throws are too much, but not as ridiculous as getting locked out of the break if you were already pressing the button. Taking a million damage from King because you are simply not allowed to press buttons against him is soul draining. 3. As far as balance goes, I agree with the picks here. I think Xiaoyu is up there for me personally; the damage is just too crazy for a character that simply decides 75% of the moves in the game will no longer touch her. Yoshi is very annoying as well, even though I main him and his mids aren't very good, I think they should at least nerf the plus frames on regular Flash and soften some of the kincho attacks. Also, Alisa's chainsaws really are crazy. Many attacks in the game do less damage on hit than those do on chip. 4. Yeah, fast power crush heat engagers should not be safe on block. Shouldn't be launch punishable either, though, -12 with throws still breakable would be good (in my head anyways). That's it for my soapbox, next subject is competitive Tekken and I just ain't there yet.

My issue with tekken 8 is that i could play offensively in previous tekken games (t3-t7) without any issues and could get good results even though the games were more on the defensive side which is the most strongest element to have in any martial arts by the way. If you don't have a good defense, doesn't matter how fast or good your in offense, you are bound to lose. In tekken 8, the defense (movement/techniques) nerfed too much in contrast to offense. Now you can get away with it if you don't have a good defense. The game is giving too much to new or unskilled players and at the same time its taking too much from core/high level/technical players. The game needs to have at least 40/60 if not 50/50 in defense to offense ratio. *Heat system needs adjustment, like its availability on start of the match needs to go and needs a meter bar which you fill by playing both defense and offense equally. * Chip damage needs to go period. * Heat burst needs a nerf, counter throws need to go as well, tracking/homing throws need a nerf as well. RA punish (on block) needs to be the same as T7 where they were launch punishable. The game needs to have skill based reads instead of 50/50 guessing all the time. The people with good reactions/skills should be rewarded depending on their level specially against new/unskilled players. Tekken has always been the chess of fighting games and which is why loved tekken over other most fighting (mashing) games because like real martial arts i had to think before attacking about the possible outcomes of my attacks and move in a way to bait my opponents to punish them on the mistakes (weak defense) and tekken 8 removed that part almost entirely if not entirely. Now its mashing and getting away most of the time. And i do hope that the devs come out with a proper patch soon and stop punishing skilled players if the favor or new/unskilled players because of their greed.
