Heatmaps in ArcGIS Pro
In this video, you will learn how to transform a point dataset into a Heatmap type representation using ArcGIS pro.
A heatmap is a type of visualization that uses color to represent the density of points or the intensity of an attribute across a geographic area, that essentially can help users to identify patterns and trends in their spatial data. Heatmaps are commonly used in GIS to show patterns of activity or distribution across a map, and can be used to reveal spatial trends and relationships that might not be immediately obvious from a simple map.
In ArcGIS Pro, users can create heatmaps using a technique called kernel density estimation. This technique involves calculating the density of points in a given area by convolving each point with a kernel function, which is essentially a mathematical function that determines the weight of each point in the calculation. The resulting density values are then represented on a color scale, with hotter colors indicating areas of higher density and cooler colors indicating areas of lower density.

Good video! Previous year I made a heat map for the local fire fighter department in my town in which I mapped all the incidents that happened that year. All over all interesting and good to keep the knowledge up to date :)

Thank you, I will
Could you make a tutorial about creating and exporting a time series animation using ArcGIS pro? I have a dataset from the Chicago police department of shooting victims covering 2010-2022, and I want to export a gif showing each year's heatmap sequentially. So far I have the heatmap and the time series done in the map tab, but I don't know what I'm supposed to be doing in the Layout tab so that I can export it.
If I dont see the "symbolize later by density" tab how do I get that to pop up in the symbology tab
where do you get this data from or any such similar type of data
Where can I download this dataset
where are the data set
