Heat Sealing the Knots with Hair Straightener (1st Video)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Heat sealing the knots is a method where you apply heat in knots that you keep a tension to them. What it does is that the heat makes the hair more malleable and by pulling the hair and keeping a tension you make the knots as tight as possible, then you stop the heat but you keep pulling the strands so the knots won't loosen up while the hair cools down, this is very critical. When the hair does cool you can leaved the hair and you can be sure it won't revert back to loose state cause now the hair is set to this shape thus the knot is more secure.
I do this method in all units and after that I apply my permanent sealer (or semi-permanent if you prefer cause acetone will remove the sealer at will) and this way I knot my knots are tiny and they will stay like this both cause of the heat sealing but also due to the glue sealer that I apply
Part 2 is here:

    I only do single knots for babyhairs now because my clients don't glue their units down they sew them in so I give them double knots with single strands, but that's an interesting method, I might have to try that on a unit for myself.

    Hey hey Lily, thanks for passing by and leaving a comment. You are right about the knots. Double knots are secure, once you make them tight they stay like that and there is no way they will unravel by themselves! The problem is that they are more visible. On the other hand single knots are not that visible IF and only if they are tight. But since they are single they tend to revert back to their original lose shape over the time and they have this little "8" shape. If you also seal your knots with a sealant... first heat seal them so as to turn them as tiny as possible and then apply the sealant, this way you get the best results!

    Dear Super Wig Maker, I tried numerous times to go to your website and all I get is pop ups that will not go away until I close it completely so I am messaging you here. I love you videos and your work!! I have learned so much from you!! Thank you!! I am not new to hair, I've been a hairstylist for over 25 years, but I am new to wig making and hair extensions and I'm so far unable to find an honest company to purchase virgin human hair. They all say virgin unprocessed hair but when I get it, it is all processed hair so far. The dishonesty in this industry is mind boggling. Anyway, I was hoping you could tell me who some honest hair vendors are? I dont know if you sell virgin human hair on your site or not because, like I said, I'm unable to view your site....thank you and I hope to hear from you!!

    I used knot sealers in the past but now I use something like liquid rubber latex, it is water soluble while wet so I can thin it as much as I can, it comes in all skin tone colours (and I can mix to make any custom) and when it sets it is a fine film of rubber coating the whole netting along with the knots (I burst any clogged lace oles so it won't make membranes) and it is water resistant so it is permanent.

    Hey Super Wig Maker, I really enjoy your tutorials. Quick question: for treating a larger area, would an iron (normally used for clothing) work as well?

  • @SuperWigMaker

    @SuperWigMaker

    9 жыл бұрын

    Hey girl, I assume your clothing iron does have heat settings, the thing is that you have to make sure that you keep a good pull of the hair so when the hair is heated and turns more malleable, the knots will tighten, then you remove the heat and keep pulling gently so it cools down with the knots tight. If you do that in a big area I don't know how it will work for the knots to turn tinier. So I think it is better for larger areas to use a blow dryer so you have a thicker line of hair and more wirth do it so you don't have to do it so precisely with a straightening iron. I will make a video on how to do it on larger areas but with a hair dryer.

  • @SuperWigMaker

    Well you would need a stitching needle and some sturdy thread to do so. You could watch my reddish synthetig wig bideo, I show this in the beginning and you can click at this link it will take you straight to 5:39 of the video whee I start cutting the top part to add the lace (in your case the lace closure) kzread.info/dash/bejne/dnmbprJsZrWZj6g.htmlm39s Of course then I start ventilating which in your case shouldn't be necessary since you have a closure which is ready. And of course since your closure already has dimensions you need to measure how much you need to cut on top!

    Hi SWM. So with the blow dryer just apply the heat to the roots and pull slightly correct? thanks

  • @SuperWigMaker

    @SuperWigMaker

    9 жыл бұрын

    Yep yep, that is correct, just part the hair just like you would if you would straighten it. Aim the heat in the roots, pull them tight while the heat is going on, keep the tension, remove the hot air, keep it like that for a few seconds and when it is cool you just let it go and the knots are heat sealed temporary until the time reverts it back to a loser shape or more heat is applied and loses the shape! Also when you straighten the hair (later, once the knots are heat treated) try not to put the heat close to the knots cause if they get heated well and there is no tension some knots will get a new temporary shape (which might be loose)

    ...that depends on how you want you end piece to look, if you want a layered effect, sue long hair in the lower parts and shorter on top, it will create dramatic layering, if you do the opposite you will get a blunt cut-style, where the ends are thicker and not so layered.

    +Super Wig Maker I went to your website and saw the lace. It states that it is not the kind for the perimeter of a wig. It also said that when someone orders, that you send samples of all the other kinds that you sell. Now when you say that are you saying different TYPES like strength or purpose of the lace or are you saying samples of color? Hope to hear from you soon and thank you for these wonderful videos! ❤

    Sorry for the late replies, this thing is getting out of hand, I am getting hundrets of mails and comments per day and it is impossible to reply. The lace I have is asian, thus thick and it is the one they use for premade wigs (even int he hairlines) but I don't use it for hairline, I use swiss lace that I don't have on my site yet. Yes I do sent a small paper with the lace sample only to show the colours.

    You can but then you would have to use a permanent sealant to keep it like this, once human hair get wet, it starts to swell and revert back to the original shape. So it would loosen up.

    Super Wig Maker do you have a clip of how to permanently seal human hair after heat treating? I tried a link u sent in one of your replies (I think it was with thinned nail polish) but the link didn’t work. Thank u!!
