Hi, Kit has actually said in another interview that he is very close to Joe and they became such good friends, that they trust each other 100%. And with that trust, it allowed them to throw insults back and forth at each other during interviews, which they love doing, to see the reaction from fans which makes them laugh.

Also, I do know, that Joe gets very nervous with interviews. However in his private life, he is a very open, confident and sassy young man. It is just with TV interviews that he feels slightly uncomfortable. Not surprising considering that Heartstopper was his first ever TV role, it was his acting debut. Whereas Kit has had a lot more experience in TV and films. He was in Rocketman about Elton John. And Kit has done a lot more interviews, so he is much more used to these PR events than Joe. You only have to watch the fantastic clip online during this year's Pride march in London, where Joe dances and flips the finger at a group fo homophobic protestors at the march. That shows you Joe is a lot more confident and sassy than he appears in interviews. Joe has said that he is much less shy and less adorable than his character Charlie is in Heartstopper. Still a lovely young man.

This was so good!!! You should definitely react to some more of them, the recent interview in February with British GQ is one of the sweetest ones they've done and I would totally recommend it for a reaction video.

Heartstopper is Joe's first acting job so giving interviews and being on camera is very new to him, whereas Kit has been an actor for a while (he played young Elton in Rocketman for example) which is why I think he seems more extroverted and comfortable in front of cameras :)

I think that Kit comes of as very well-spoken, especially when he is working, because by working as a child actor, he’d have spent a lot of time around adults compared to other kids his age, maybe frequently as the only young person in a given environment. I think besides feeling more comfortable in front of cameras/on sets, as a young person that teaches you (even just through observing others around you) how to communicate, when speaking but even through body language, your thoughts and your personality and warmth. Seeing Kit in press interviews/red carpets vs the video when he is interviewed by his trainer when working out vs being in the background or interacting with his friends/young colleagues on set in vlogs/social media… you can see that he knows how to “turn it on” when it’s time to make himself seen and heard, and he also seems to prioritize his internal world to stay energized/activated and “save it” for the scene when he is filming. I totally believe him if he says he’s an introvert, because of his acting as Nick… what he was able to convey about that character’s internal story was mind blowing, he is very in touch with the emotional and intellectual side of things and leads with that in his acting choices. He’s said he’s not really trained a lot, he’s learned about acting through working and watching other professionals on his sets, and prefers not to over-prepare for scenes or he starts to overthink his performance instead of it feeling natural, so his approach/philosophy is very instinctual. It leads me to think that he himself is very oriented to his internal world, and also that he is an incredible listener and observer when in social situations, which has taught him how to access and express that internal world in his acting, when working and being himself but “on” (professional environments like interviews, on set, meeting fans- he universally comes across as warm and authentic), and when connecting with friends or loved ones on a personal level. I think Joe is very similar to Kit in his warmth, ability to listen and observe others, but just less experienced in this type of communication. He may come across as a bit anxious/less self assured, but I think it’s just because he hasn’t spent those years observing colleagues yet and doesn’t have that little code switch that actors develop to keep their nerves from showing too much in things like auditions, new environments, fully on auto mode yet. He seems like he gets a lot from being around other people, and I think he’ll quite quickly have found it, because he does seem incredibly thoughtful and well spoken, and we’ll see that authenticity stay in interviews while his anxieties become less visible in his body (though he’ll still share frankly about them, the way Kit dies). He’ll interview and be on the red carpet in a way that will display his personality even better, and I think he will also come across as someone who is very engaged with the person he is speaking to, making connections with others easily when he is “on”, even more than Kit, because he will ultimately find it activating. On set, he doesn’t need as much to stay focused inwardly between takes, but I think his screen acting is going to go from excellent to mind-blowingly good very quickly!

It’s interesting because Joe explains himself as a extrovert and Kit says he’s an introvert, which is the opposite vibe they give in this interview

Kit may be an introvert but he has a lot of social skills. Joe is a bit more frank than is Charlie (his character), and I believe he may be using the word extrovert as a stand-in for frankness and calling people out.

I mean extrovert means you get energy from being around because and introvert means you get your energy back from being alone. I am a very get very anxious in social situations which tends to cause me to be alone a lot but I get so energized when I am able to hangout with people.

Kit's been in the industry longer so he's probably more used to these interviews and stuff than Joe is, which could affect things.

yes please do the Tour around London one and also the one where they "remember their firsts" on Teen Vogue that one's quite new! Both are really good to show their relationship and how they interact together :D

this was actually joe’s first professional acting job. kit played young elton john in rocketman fyi: if you happen to do other cast interviews, i just want to make sure you know that kizzy edgell uses they/them pronouns

Your reads were spot on. Since this is Joe's first time doing press, it was very easy to tell that he was looking at Kit to take the lead, seeing as Kit has been in the film industry for a while. I was also surprised to find out that Kit is actually the more introverted one, but because he is so experienced in front of the camera, Joe often relies on him. Their friendship is quite fun to watch because you can see they enjoy each other's presence, but also aren't afraid to sort of talk each other down at points. But they are still incredibly respectful of each other, and you can tell that they balance each other out really well.

Kit actually gets a lot more flustered and visibly nervous than Joe when they do interviews live on air.

It's very clear that Kit and Joe are great friends and obviously have each other's back. It's a lovely thing to see...

It was a trip seeing this somewhat clinical analysis of what we fans have latched onto - these two have great chemistry not just on Heartstopper, but also when they're just being themselves. It's kinda insane watching two 18 year olds that are so kind to one another and so well-spoken. Just lovely to see.

Didn't expect you to react to this! Absolutely adored this show, really recommend you give it a watch, it's super sweet and wholesome. I believe Kit's done a lot of acting work already, I know he was on a kid's show here in the UK for a while and was in the rocket man film so thats probably why he comes across as more polished in this.

This is nice, thank you for the video! Joe has mentioned before that kit kind of guided him trough all the process of his first acting experience, so is understandable why he's a bit shy in all these interviews since they were made right after the show came out, we can see how extroverted Joe is in tobie's vlogs and how kit is the opposite, I'm glad they were the ones who brought to life nick and Charlie! I can't imagine anyone better for the role :)

I still really, really like your analysis of how they communicate with each other. Would you be open to analyse a newer interview because both have grown a lot, they are so much mature and even closer and more comfortable with each other but especially Joe has been more quite and withdrawn in recent interviews, at least in my opinion so to have an actual communication skills coach give their impression would be really interesting.

I would love you to do more reaction to the Heartstopper cast❤️

The only advantage I have for discovering Heartstopper way later than apparently everybody else is that I've got a ton of content to catch up to! That's nice! This was very lovely and you're explaining how they communicate with each other very detailed and on point and easy to understand. I'd really like it if you'd reacted to one of their (pre-Strike filmed) season 2 promo or some BTS content of e.g. their TeenVogue photoshooting. I think the love and trust they've got for each other is easy to spot but they both changed quite a lot, it seems. One forced to come out by online trolls, one cyberbullied for how he looks and on the end of recieving death threats for being gay.. no surprise, at least Joe Locke recently opened up about seeing a therapist. Good for him, shame on everybody harassing those two lovely young men.

Its actually insane how well they cast the show, their personalities are very similar to thei characters!!

It´s very interesting to see this point of view from this side of the audience, about communication skills and analyzing their reactions, I just found Joe and Kit very lovely young boys, love this show and this analysis, hope you can do it with more interviews of this beautiful lead cast! such a great video! new subscriber here!

I think it would be so interesting to see how each of them might have changed / developed their communication skills after heartstopper got so successful and they've been doing this kind of stuff for a bit longer!

Kit played Young ELTON JOHN, n the movie. Joe, had ONLY done comunity theater. at home Kit has been acting profetionly since age 8! Joe auditioned for HEARTSTOPPER, because his friends all told him:'YOU ARE CHARLIE!"

They are real good friends in real life, this was Joe's first job as an actor while Kit already playing in a couple movies, so he's a kind of mentor to him. Joe also said in an interview that he avoids social media a lot because it's just too much and he can't handle the attention, fans and stuff. Kit is a real stable person and he takes the lead in interviews a lot. But there is some chemistry between those two, that's for sure, I don't know in a romantic way or in a friendship way. Joe is openly gay while Kit stated that he won't say anything about is sexual preferences. More people from the heartstopper cast are friends in real life.

Kit has been acting since he was 8, both in movies and TV shows. I saw an interview, when Kit was 8 years old (when he was in a movie called "Get Santa") -- that kid was incredibly poised and articulate!

Kit is actually the introvert of the two, but he's had years of acting in the public eye under his belt, so he'll have had media training and practice, etc., so it's probably harder to spot. Joe actually claims he's an extrovert, but he gets drained quickly when he's being too social, so he still needs time and space to himself to recharge. Overall, it's probably why they seem to balance each other out, and they have become close from the start, too, so it'd be nice to see a revision of their communication skills for another interview maybe that's more recent since Joe's got the experience and practice to work on whereas before he had literally never set foot in the industry at all prior to being cast in the show.

Hey, idk if u see this, but if you ever get the chance to: can you please analyze one of a few of Mariah Carey's early interviews within the first 2-3 years of her career?? I think her body language and mannerisms are very interesting and would be perfect for an analysis. She was also very mature and articulate considering her age at the beginning of her career.

IIRC, Kit was cast second after also trying out for the 'Charlie' character that Joe nailed (10,000 tried out for role of 'Charlie', as I understand it). He then was among a group of finalists in competition for playing 'Nick' that the producers put before Joe/Charlie to somehow measure chemistry. I couldn't imagine a better pairing, TBH. Whatever their criteria were to measure chemistry was spot-on. I imagine/suspect Joe had his own input into the decision as well, at that point. 'Bash' is in reference to Sebastian Croft (a model) who plays the abusive former love interest of Charlie in the show. I have watched many gays watch the show with tremendous hate and scorn for that villainous character that he plays. Unfortunately, that character 'Ben' has no redemption arc in the graphic novels, and 'Bash' won't be returning to the show after season 2 ends. And I think that was a brave decision on Croft's part to play such a lightning rod of such negative emotions.

I saw an interview in which Bash, after watching the scene in which Ben sexually assaulted Charlie, said that he wanted to punch Ben, too, and it was his own face. 🙃

I feel like joe is just quieter because kit really takes a lot of space in this conversation. I feel like I do that too...I can take a lot of space of a conversation and kind of control where it goes but if others do I tend to be more quiet too I just want to say I don't think joe is less confident or anything I think he is just a bit overwhelmed because of kit and also because of this whole interview situations which are new to him.

Haha. To be completely honest, I didn’t know anything about the show going into this reaction.

Have you watched the show? And what's with the egregious laugh track? Didn't care for that.

Currently Heartstopper would be the most popular LGBTQ+ show on the planet.....It has out-ranked top LGBTQ+ shows like season 3 of SKAM , Young Royals and Love Victor......Being you are not a part of the LGBTQ+ community I wonder how you found out about this series?....as it only ranked 10th for 1 day on the Netflix USA for best shows....unlike most other Netflix zones where it averaged #4 for few weeks globally, however made its way to number 1 in the UK for approx a week. The natural attraction between the entire cast is one thing that made this show so popular, and the fact this was entirely made up with actors who are a true representation of their own selves, unlike the American LGBTQ+ shows that have to cater to the Evangelical censors. This series, they have already had season 2 and 3 confirmed by Netflix are based on the comic books by Alice Oseman under the same name. It is a series for anyone who enjoys just a 'good story'.....it's more about humanity than the LGBTQ+ community........
