Both are absolutely great, the only that I prefer Odyssey for is that Ult animation. Aside from that, I have to say that HEARTSTEEL is so flashy and kinda crunchy

I mean we all know Odyssey kayn was some of riots best work ever and imo i like the newer ones wall ride a lot more so like its a draw overall its like the ult on Odyssey is a statment meanwhile heartsteel is just better transformations and animats all else tho i can see people preferring the hs ult as well for the flip and shite lastly we all know shadow assassin and rhaast clearly go heartsteel lastly im ngl odyssey kayn has a cool dance but i lean more towards hs but the kayn playing pacman on odyssey is jusy sooo good as well overall id say i have spent too much money on buying every kayn skin in the game and i regret it now save you money get night bringer(jkjk hs and odyssey are literally exact same tier imo)

i've had odyssey kayn for 3 years and I didn't know his ult had that above it

The new have idle afk, music and vfx updated, itself, is superior and beautiful but odyssey have the form model more detailed, especially rhaast, he’s handsome and menacing

One thing that I find amazing about Heartsteel is Assasin-Kayn's model and animations: it's the very first male skin that manages to properly make cool poses with long hair during attack animations. Also, it's the first one to make good looks out of an uncovered torso without concealing it under huge shoulderpads, a vest, capes, or a hunched posing model

Odyssey still puts up a good fight despite it's age, I do prefer the odyssey splashart and shadow assassin way more than heartsteel. The rest is either one or the other, both are cool. Edit: how could I forget the voice lines😂 yeah odyssey kayn wins by a land slide, heartsteel kayn's voice lines can't even compete.

At any rate, you buy legendaries these days for 1: The new animation rig 2: The voice The clashing neons of Heartsteel look unappealing to me, and it overall just screams "tryharding at being flashy". Odyssey, however...it's just cleaner. Now obviously Odyssey is winning in voicelines too, but yeah. Literally the only reason Heartsteel would "look better" is because there's MORE visual effects, not BETTER ones.

i also noticed in the emotes, oddysee rhaast / assassin have different ones, compared to untransformed kayn. Heartsteel keeps the untransformed emotes in both forms unfortunately

One thing I really would want is an Odyssey part II or what if skin where Kayn and Rhaast don't get rid of eachother after they transform just like HS, Odyssey's banter between those 2 are legit one of the best voice acting from all the champions

Bro the assassin mode's hair animation in Heartsteel is crazy good. It looks so smooth and slick

To each their own, but objectively, the new one is better, mostly because its newer and has other tech like the iddle music and dance. It also features more vivid VFX and SFX. Nevertheless, Oddyssey has better models and ult.

I Just realize that in Heartsteel Kayn's Rhaast form, When he uses 3rd Skill, there are faces like his expression while when he's in Shadow Assassin form, It has hearts and beats, Showing how Rhaast was just another Persona of Kayn

I think both serve their purpose, which one is better is therefore hard to say. We may have a case here of them being equally good in different ways and I would be totally fine with that statement.

Idk why it bothers me but i feel like giving different dialogue on the emotes was something they shouldve kept doing, such a small detail but just feels lazy not to.

Benefit of the doubt, with how jarring it is, I'm assuming it's because it's only in PBE. I get Rhaast is an alter-ego in Heartsteel but it's jarring to go from Rhaast's voice to Kayn with not so much as a filter.

A of the dialogue for the odyssey skin is actually super fun between the two, and they seem to have a lot more unique voice lines. The animations on that HS Kayne though, go fucking crazy.

I love that rhaast shreds the guitar and shadow kayn is a dancer.

odyssey kayn has a more detailed animation for after W, and a more detailed ult-- however the new legendary skin has a much better after ult animation imo

Heartsteel Kayn is undoubtedly more well made and polished, but from what we've seen it lacks the VO work that makes Odyssey so charming and memorable. It's the only thing I'll miss when using the new skin.

If you watch the Rhaast Q closely, he spins the scythe with his feet. Awesome detail.

Dope , for me is impressive tho that kayn doesnt have an ultimate skin , it fits him so well

Odyssey Kayn still give me trauma When I finally got the Icon I knew it was finally over, but then I got him rerolling 3 skins 1 year later...

I love heartsteel rhaast so much, the design feels genius and I am so obsessed with this dance

I like how HS Kayn E floating in the wall instead of just running in it.

Odyssey is far better : - 34 minutes of awesome dialogue and interactions. - 3 different skinlines in one : Base Kayn is Odyssey, Shadow Assassin is cosmic and Rhaast is Dark Star. - A lot of personality from both of them. - Instead of just the scythe, the ultimates show their face similar to the splashart. - Real transformations where they murder each other, instead of Kayn and Rhaast being friends. - Smooth SFX and particule effects that are good even to this day. I'm not trashing Hearsteel, but you just can't top Odyssey, sure, it's more "fluid" but there is a sense of heaviness that I like in Odyssey.

I prefer Odyssey tbh, but I like simple clean design that does not have too many effects and particles.

En mi humilde opinión ambas son geniales, odyssey con las lineas de voz y la VFX de su ult apesar de la edad y HS es mucho mas trabajada la SFX y VFX pero no cambia las interacciones al transformarse como lo hace odyssey, pero ambas cumplen su propósito.

Heartsteel for the animations, especially the W, Recall, and Ult but Odyssey for the Emotes, voice lines, and especially THAT DANCE, but both have their charm points so I hope back and forth between skins all the time

this is a very small nitpick, but Rhaast Q is kinda weird and by that i mean he spins Scythe, but because of the way he's holding it(over his shoulder), his Q actually slashes with the back/stick of the sycthe instead of the sharp side of the blade.

Damn kayn trained his back at the gym for the new skin

He made peace with his darkin in Heartsteel

Odyssey Kayn is still better than the new skin. the ult is so better in Odyssey

I like the new skin and will be getting it but I find it weird having Rhaast and listening to the regular Kayn VA instead of just rhaast, like it make sense with the Alter ego just kinda interesting and weird for right now

Remember that this version the VFX are not finished, still has 2 week left.

Unrelated question but does anyone know which prestige skins will be made avaliable in patch 13.22 ? I am assuming the current ones like Syndra, Seraphine and alike will go away and new ones will enter right ? But the prestige skin post from months ago doesn’t give info about 13.22

i do think its kind of weird that HS mostly uses the same kayn lines as rhaast or shadow assassin when they usually get a whole new set of lines

Both are good from my pov. Though the Ult of Odyssey is badass, cant wait to release in Wild Rift.

Heartsteel has more production value and i love the design better pf both forms. But, for me, its very different to distinguish some of its animations between forms and odyssey just feels better and more fluid

It's a shame that the ultimate of the heartsteel skin is so simple and uneventful, other than that it's beautiful.

More like newer vs older legendary skin, although the Odyssey kayn have a better looking red kayn and the ult animations, but still the playstyle alone in HS kayn is gonna feel different with that skin

the whole skinline feels like actually something new. The way those animations and skill effects look is just sooo good

Odyssey is a decent skin, but I like Heartsteel better. I'm not really a fan of all the blob gel animations. Also, like everyone else is saying, Heartsteel does a way better job at giving more animations instead of looking like default Kayn. My favorite part of Heartsteel is his dance. It's an amusing taunt when you down an enemy 😂

I'll just go odyssey when blue and heartsteel when red to make it equal, but yes, odyssey does have more lore sense lines and character (plus that heartsteel home guard is so ridiculous wtf 😭😭)

The thing that make me like heart steal over odyssey kayn is that music listening to the music and playing is such a nice thing + Rhasst is not his enemy in this skin Odyssey Rhasst 10 times beter than heart steal but wht ever

Odyssey Kayn's R imo is better. Idk the image of him above the scythe is just cool to me. But the rest of HS kayn I like bc his entire animations are playful and charismatic and I like that a lot.

Both are great but i still prefer odyssey

It's mainly that it's not a throw at all, rhaast in this animation strums the scythe like a guitar to send out that shockwave whereas odyssey is a straight up slice

The ult and the models makes Odyssey better skin

Rhaast and the animations are sooo good for Heartsteel

I am immensely disappointed how they treated Rhaast in this skinline. Lore-wise, he literally doesn't exist. In-game, even when fully transformed, he has base Kayn's emotes copy-pasted. Very anti-climactic. They didn't bother to at least slap Rhaast's voice over the emotes, much less change them slightly to fit the character, like in the rest of his skins

How would you have made it? You need some kind of entity taking over kayn in a modern setting, not a lot of viable options
