Seen this before, worth a watch for sure

Schmeling was not a Nazi. Quite the opposite, in fact. Hard to believe that Schmeling lived to be 100 after the terrific beating he took from Baer.

Back in those days Baer was considered huge and muscular. Compared to todays fighters who do weight training he looks skinny.

Hardly. Compared to a current boxer of his height and weight he fits right in.

That was a good portrait of an exceptional fighter. His brother, Buddy Baer, was even taller at 6ft 6ins and a World HW Contender. Both were KO'd by Joe Louis. Max was renowned for his power and whilst it is true of the death of Frankie Campbell, he also gave a beating to Ernie Schaap, who later fought Carnera and lapsed into Unconsciousness never to recover. It is asserted that he had fought too soon after his beating from Baer. When Baer collapsed with a fatal Heart Attack, he was in a hotel and another came to his aid, saying "I'll get the House Doctor". Baer replied: "I'd rather have a People Doctor". Great humour. Final point, the commentary is wrong and unkind to label Max Schmeling a Nazi. He wasn't. His manager was jewish and pressure was placed on him by Nazi Germany to disavow his manager but he wouldn't. He also paid for health care for Joe Louis as he lapsed into his mental instability prior to his death.

I agree completely about Schmeling. I love America and will stand up for everything the Nazi party stood against. I cant stand racism or bigotry of any kind. I always liked Schmeling though. Of course the news people want to make Schmeling out as a Nazi asshole but when I look at him I don't see that in his face.

tintinesk5 ...and I disagree with you about Adolf Hitler views on other Human beings...All of that malarkey was started by Himmler and his SS...Jesse Owens said Adolf Hitler treated him much better than FDR who wouldn't even invite him to the White House...Europeans had a much more compassionate aim. And treated everyone like they wanted to be treated...Zionism I'd the division bell against all races they pit against each other every chance their Owned MSMedia gets....All of the major Networks are weapons used against the people but you would only realize this if you were woke...Germans and Blacks don't superstitiously claim to be chosen(for what)? Max Baer was listed as 6' 2.5" and James Braddock 6' 2".

Great video, but it is very unfair to Max Schmelling to label him as a Nazi. He was not. He was a very good man and he was a very successful businessman. Both Max’s R.I.P.

Le beau Max was strong and funny... That didn’t prevent him to die at a relatively young age ( aged 50 ) ... Two adversaries died as a result of severe beatings !! Baer, who was a quarter jewish, wore the Star of David on his trunks, during the nazi era, just to defy the fuehrer !!

Also, Braddock was taller than Max (per the movie "C/M").
