Today we learn how to play the awesome Guitar Solo at the end of Heartbreaker by Led Zeppelin, you've heard of them right?
Apologies for the absence, it finally got me and wiped me out for a good 10 days. The algorithm has punished me accordingly; not cool.
Thought I'd announce my return with a bang. Have fun with this one.

I dont think Jimmy ever played that accurately, but he was a mad creative genius and everything he played sounds cool

Yeah, years ago I perceived some of Jimmy's playing as a bit defective or sloppy. I have since realized he is expressing a kind of controlled chaos and it's vital. Same with Alex Lifeson's early solos. Chaos is expressive. Glad you're feeling better!

Yes!! Thanks his is a brilliant way to describe it. Controlled chaos, and he calls upon it when needed. It’s not always the case with every song. Plenty of well rounded/crafted melodies in other songs but on occasion the song just needs a punch. Rock N Roll is very much the same. 🔥

I always been a Jimmy Page / Zepp fan since I was early age. My Mom was a hippie back in the 60's and I remember Bob Dylan , Rolling Stones more than anything back then. Although later down the road, I felt that Jimmy was a better studio musician than he was on-stage live. But nevertheless, he alone invented some of the best solos and riffs ever created in rock. Led Zeppelin set the rock and roll sound all through the 70's man. They were IT. And perhaps Hollywood created a scenario where it became some sort of a "sin" to play Stairway inside a music store...why? / your accuracy in getting down to the absolute playing style and duplicating exact riffs is a great thing here. I thank you for the tutorials' of all this great music!

Sped, I’ve been a Zeppelin fanatic since 1972. No band has inspired a similar sense of passion until I discovered BAND-MAID, five ladies in Japan who have breathed new life into a tired genre. I would love to hear your thoughts on their songs MANNERS and BLACK HOLE, presented back-to-back in a KZread video from a recent live stream.

Niles, that's absolutely fine. You can just bring me another box instead. 🤣 And when you say "I'm not talented" based on speed of learning I disagree, you totally are talented. Speed it takes to learn something doesn't equate to talent, that's just experience. There's plenty of videos out there of professional musicians struggling with new music/parts. Be positive and have fun!

@@SpedSpedding man. It’s an absolute honour to receive a message from you. You epitomise how I have wanted to be and play since I was 14 yo. And that’s 53 years ago! I’m trying my best using my new Matrix phaser to master the classic Van Halen song, Ain’t Talkin Bout Love. I add the Boss Blues Driver and a touch of delay with the MXR CCopy. Sounds amazing! Just gotta stop the Les Dawson / Eric Morcambe thing and get the notes in the right order… Where I live I have Robert Fripp and his wife Toyah living a couple of miles away and about 12 miles away in Wolverley there is a legend, Mr. R. Plant. And my guitar tutor (grade 8) lives 7 mikes away. Everyone is much, much better at playing than I suspect I ever will be. Ne’er mind, I enjoy it immensely.

Thanks for the great video, I sub'd! I think there are quite a few missing notes in that first run up. I could never decipher them myself. People say Jimmy plays sloppy, and maybe this is an example of that. i wish i could play that sloppy. When the big chords hit later in the solo, there are also a bunch of missing notes that are near impossible to make out in the zep recording.
