Kevin O’ROURKE is an Irish priest who has a love for Korean literature.
In the 1960s, Kevin O’ROURKE came to Korea as a Catholic priest. Drawn to the Korean language, he studied Korean literature at the graduate school of Yonsei University. Since then, he has steadily translated Korean novels and poems. He received the Korean National Literature Prize in 1989 for his translation ‘TILTING the JAR, SPILLING the MOON’ and the Daesan Literary Award in 2017 for his translation of ‘The Book of Korean Poetry: CHOSON DYNASTY.’
He has translated Korean literature for over 50 years. How did he become interested in Korean literature? We shall find out today.

1960년대에 카톨릭 사제로 한국에 들어온 그는 한국어의 매력에 빠져 연세대학교 대학원 국어국문학과에 입학. 이후 한국의 소설과 시를 꾸준히 번역. [한국시선집:조선시대] 번역으로 2017년 대산문학상 번역 부문 수상을 하기도 했다.
