I am a 69 year old, slightly misanthropic, curmudgeon who had been a progressive music fan since 1971. I seldom give out accolades and I am even less likely to praise covers, and even more critical when it comes to covers of my favorite band "YES". Now, with that being said, I have just finished listening to your cover of "Heart Of The Sunrise", which is my favorite "YES" song, and I am amazed. Musically your rendition is spot on. Nice contrast between intensity and serenity which is a key element of progressive music. The gal singing could easily have over sung it and ruined all this fine work but she didn't and her voice and phrasing came across as "angelic and restrained" and a great dynamic compliment to the others. Damn, if I were only 30 years younger. I am now going to look for more of your stuff. I found this by accident but will make an effort to hear the rest of your work. Nice job. Victor Laslo

Hi Victor. Speaking as younger person (I'm 62! :p ) I agree with you 100% I've been a Yes fan since 1972 and like you I'm fairly "picky" about covers of their work. "Band Geek" are exceptional when it comes to playing the Yes catalog. By the way, their "other stuff" is not shabby either :D ! ...All the best , John

This song has so many abrupt changes it's hard to make it sound other than a splicing together of random, disparate musical ideas. This version fully convinces. You can tell it's felt and not just playing by the numbers. Even those small departures from the original (tempo, guitar part, keyboards) seem calculated to weld the thing together into a coherent, convincing whole.
Cannot wait to hear and see the Geeks on tour with Jon Anderson. What a dynamic combo.
I am completely and totally blown away. One of, if not my favorite Yes classic. Your talent is mind boggling. My God, those bass lines! Chris would be so proud. The keyboards, the guitar, the drums and that Angel on vocals. Thank You Geeks!

Victor L, you worded it beautifully. I'm a 67-year-old aspiring bass player that never could play this, but I'm still trying. This composition is pure genius, the first time that the bass player was the lead instrument,,, Chris, you paved new ground, Rest in Peace. To the band Geeks,, damn great job! You folks nailed it,, Bravo!
Drummer plays keys , guitarist plays drums both play both to a very high level. WoW!

Hi RBC...just traveling back in time to say hello... and ("Yes") I agree, they look like they're having a heavenly experience covering this classic.
The whole band is awesome, but I especially love how the drummer reminds me of Bill Bruford. Plus major kudos for the beefy bass.
Been listening to Yes since I was little. My older brother was a huge fan and ended up making me one, too. These songs are my childhood. Perpetual Change needs to be next.
Love the woman singing lead. She has a wonderful timbre. Her singing fits beautifully in this music. Just finished your Close To The Edge-video which was fantastic, and to top it off before bed now this video. Wow! Also, respect to the drummer, who utilizes a relatively basic-sized drumkit compared to Bill's to the max in this complex music. Lastly, your guitarist, crazy good tone! And your Rickebacker bassist is the icing on the cake; it's almost like hearing the late Chris Squire himself. I am truly impressed and feel fortunate to know there's good people like you carrying on the musical torch.
This is a fantastic cover. At the time I'm commenting (1 3/4 years after this video's release), it has 38 downvotes. I can't say for sure what it was that made those 38 people actively dislike this, but my experience with such people is that they fall into two categories; the first is looking for the original. They hear a cover, it's not an exact replica of the original, and they very much dislike that fact. To those people, I say listen to the original. No one's going to tell you not to. The original is unique, and wonderful, and can't be replicated. Cover artists can only come close (to the edge, lol) and that means something. The other group is just jealous of talent when they see it. Pity, that.
To play this song you don’t just play it,you have to play it with all the emotion and all the passion as the great band called YES has done back in the day and you’s guys nailed it, and a good tribute to Chris Squire
Can't believe I just heard what I just heard... I've been to shows where Yes didn't play HOTS with such perfection.
When the tune was over, my mind was expecting the reprise of We Have Heaven, and I wasn't disappointed! Great rendition; Ann Marie's voice is wonderful.
Not many bands can "do" Yes.....Well done Ritchie and the geeks - pure dead brilliant, as we say here in Scotland.

Love Richie + Band Geek. Many years a driving force behind BOC staying relevant + alive and kicking. Incredible covers with BG of all time classics! Keep the good times rolling!!!!
Band Geeks blow my mind with their versatility, precision, and passion. On some songs the drummer plays keys, the singer plays bass, and the bass player covers Van Halen note-for-note. From Disney, to Michael Jackson, to Yes, it’s astounding!
WOW! That just blew the Cobwebs away. Those musicians know how to replicate YES which is no easy feat. My mouth is still open!
Very well done. All my favorite bands I grew up with. They don't make music like this anymore
Only discovered this series of vids today. I'm dumbfounded by the quality of all the elements. The attention to detail and delicate interplay between the players is [above] outstanding. Every instrument [and voice!] sound exquisite. Almost too good to watch...
I’ve just discovered you guys (where the F have I been!) and you are, without doubt the best freakin cover band in the world bar none, end of, Period. I’m 61 years old, first saw Yes at Wembley in 1977, probably before any of you were born and I’m in a cover band myself (not a Yes cover band I should add - I wish) and we don’t reach 1% of your standard. I’ve subscribed. I’m hooked. You guys are the real deal. Thank you thank you thank you.
The accuracy of the sound, and playing is beyond measure.... I'm certain Yes would most certainly approve of this version !!
I love Richie and his band of musical misfits. This is just wonderful.
Typically, I don't care for cover versions of songs, but I really like this girl's voice. The entire band does an excellent job!
Squires set up is so unique and you've nailed it. He had mentioned that this was by far his favorite song to perform live. Just a beautiful piece. And the percussion, wow! I thing Bruford left the band just before this tour and White stepped in at the last moment.
This cover brought tears to my eyes you made Chris proud and me a happy man so wonderful to hear such great covers of my all-time favorite band 💟💟💙💙💓💓
Delicious! Love the female vocal by Ann Marie, LOVE the Rick bass!
This popped up on my YT and I thought this is going to be a train wreck but I was so wrong and very happy I clicked. Almost like sitting in a recording session with Yes back in the day. It also is great to see the parts being played so clearly and with all the complexity and subtleties intact. Bravo Geeks!

Phenomenal musicianship aside, what a great job recreating those tones! I enjoy this as much as the original.
This made my eyes water a little and reminded me how much i love this song.
Wish my best friends was still around, we grew up listening to Yes, & ELP, he was classically trained & could play all of that even though the rest of us could not yet on Bass or Guitar, he would love this. He moved to Nashville to go to Belmont College, ending up playing with Country Groups, ended up in Reba McIntyre's band, died in a plane crash in 91, those dreams of one day playing Yes music together gone. He would have a big smile on his face watching this video. Love it.
I have much respect for every person in this video. What an amazing performance. One of my favorite songs. I believe I saw them twice (...it was the 70s) . Although I enjoyed every single instrument I must say the vocal was unique and angelic. Each one of you is something special. Thank you for this gift.

You all are really great! Thanks for all of the wonderful songs you cover.
For centuries, people have gone to concerts featuring the music Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, etc. because it’s great and timeless music. So is Yes music, performed by such talented musicians.
Wow ... Got to be one of the hardest songs to play with all the arrangements and playing requirements. What a great and tight version so all credit to the band and how about getting out there and playing it live at some point? I am 64 and listened to this and other Yes tracks when they were first released and this is a fine tribute. All the playing and singing is great. I am a drummer and he was fab on there but I also like all the rest and the Rick bass sound is just right and sits right in the middle. Very well done people, I am so impressed.
Yes was the soundtrack to my High School years. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Thanks for having the desire to learn and perform with such passion about a band that even in 1976 was a stretch for most people to get into, but those of us that did, and do, get into them know the shear maddening levels musicianship the members of Yes had. You honor them and prog rock for replaying these cuts with its intensity and craftsmanship. I just found your videos and I look forward to hearing what else you guys play.
Superior from a guy who listens, admires YES since the beginning...keep up the good work
Thank you, for a lifetime of hard work.... just to make us smile..
Although Yes have played this live many times, when you think that Eddie Offord constructed these tracks from endless 24 track strips, retakes of each section of the piece, until he produced the perfection that is the studio album, you guys seem to have mastered the studio sound in one take, which is incredibly impressive! Bravo!
Hate to be the one to make a "kids today" comment, but here goes: So many kids today don't have the patience or attention span to stick it out through a song like this. Most pop singles are done by the time the vocals come in on this. Amazing how a 45+-year old song sounds fresher and more intriguing than today's product.
