Heart Arrhythmia - Yale Medicine Explains

For more information on cardiac arrhythmias or #YaleMedicine, visit: www.yalemedicine.org/news/arr....
An arrhythmia is a disturbance in the rhythm of the heartbeat, whether it’s beating too hard, too fast-or skipping beats. This condition can be caused by problems with the heart’s electrical system. Much like how faulty wiring in a home could lead to short circuits, an arrhythmia can cause the heart to race so fast that it might suddenly stop. One particular kind of arrhythmia is called atrial fibrillation, in which there are abnormal electrical impulses in the top chambers of the heart. People with atrial fibrillation often feel like their heart is “skipping,” or beating erratically. They might also experience fatigue and feel unable to do regular activities. Fortunately, a procedure called ablation has revolutionized how atrial fibrillation is treated. In this video, Joseph Akar, MD, PhD, director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program, discusses arrhythmias in general and how ablation works.

Walking for at least one hour in a row almost every day made arrhythmia go away. I felt that as I was walking my heart was getting synchronized again

Thank you so much for explaining what I’m going trough with AFIB. I’m 87 yrs of age and being suffering for one year with this episodes. An ablation and multiple Cardio Versions for the last three mints. I’m scheduled to have another Ablation and a Pacemaker in a week. So I’m trying to learn and understand my condition. My BP gets extremely high 270 systolic and 130 dyastolic. HR 200. I pray I get relief after I get this coming procedure.

Hii, I have this issue where randomly in the day like if I get up or im just walking around I would randomly get dizzy, my vision will get darker, I'll start vibrating, and sometimes I'll even loose control of my legs and fall. But every single time it wears off and I get back up as if nothing happend. I go to the doctor and they can't find out what's wrong with me. I was wondering if you could explain what it feels like and looks like when your symptoms are happening so that I can investigate and find out if it's an issue with my heart. I hope you get well ❤
