    Right, this was a hotel that she had visited multiple times (not necessarily always for one night stands). It seems like he stuck around the hotel and got a job there and that's where she stumbled upon him again. And, yes, she said, "we walked in the garden, we planted a seed" - - if you don't know what that means, well . . . So she was looking for someone to get her pregnant because it seemed her man was impotent - or didn't want kids, something.

    Uhuh! Cry for him! And for her man!that's exactly what happened! Her man couldn't give a kid and she didn't want to leave him. So she picked up this guy and had a one night syand with him so she could get pregnant and play it off like it wss her man's. Soooooo....the one who loves her now thinks it's his kid and the real fsther can't have anything to do with his own kid. Yup. Inba nutshell.

    @@lovefortruth3414 your speculating. I'm sure her husband was aware he couldn't have kids. Ppl do this all the time in a doctor's office at 20k each try, no guarantees. She took the natural route no ties and the cost of a motel room. And if u pay attention it wasnt her first time. "So we found this motel, it was a place i knew well" Anyways, she sings the shit out of this song. Which is ironic because she (ann) doesn't l I'll ke it and stopped performing it

  • @lovefortruth3414

    @lovefortruth3414

    @@bliffblam i'm not speculating anymore than you are. It also happens alot that men raise a child for years thinking it's their child before they find out that their wife did exactly what the character in this song did. It's disgusting to deceive anyone involved in helping you produce a child. Not to mention, she deprived the actual father of his biological son through deceipt with a note afterwards telling him not to find her. Do you think she gave the biological father a chance to consent or to object to being excluded from this child's life that he helped create? On the other hand, too, he was an adult and should know better to make sure they used protection or to just not get involved in a one night stand in the first place because of the potential reprocussions. They both are responsible for that part. But she was a sleaze for keeping him from having any say in his exclusion or inclusion in his now child's life. And if she kept this from her husband, then she deceived 2 men. Either way, she deceived at least one of them. That's not the same as artificial incemination in a dr's office. Men actually willingly and knowingly donate sperm for this for money. So the actual biological father is aware that he will never know his biological child that may result from it. Going out and having a one night stand with a stranger and then leaving him a note warning him not to try to find her is leaving him no choice in his involvement with the child. It's fucked up and spits in the face of mutual consent.

However, it was the first Heart song that I have heard, it was a big, BIG hit and I like it in original version more.

She left never intending to see this man again and then, perhaps just due to the weather, she stops at the same hotel not expecting to find him there and is forced to face her actions. True. I saw them in concert and wondered why they didn't do this song then I did some digging and found out the true story behind it. Ann said she hated the whole album actually, because it was not the music they wanted to do, but something they were forced to put out just to be a hit. But it cut like a knife to my heart to hear they hated it because I grew up with the Brigade album and Ann and Nancy's vocals made me imagine growing up to be a strong tough woman. They were inspiring to me and the album holds fond memories of my childhood.

Record execs and contracts made them do these. My favorite quote by the sisters is “We didn’t want to sleep with LED Zeppelin. We wanted to BE them.” They were rockers and hated this bubblegum pop. It’s fitting that they did the tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Honors ceremony. Check it out! Awesome!

    Gotta love the bass in this song. Too many great songs get the lyrics and the guitar solos talked about. Bass and drums are almost always overlooked.

    Hi India Thank you for this upload here ! I am a huge fan of Heart's music and although I do love this song..... when I hear this I get a lump in my throat from trying not to cry . You pegged the scenario right..... her man was not able to get her pregnant . I just feel so bad for that guy having to see his son's eyes looking back at him. I understand her side of it wanting to be a mom and back in those days fertility treatments were not like they are now but the whole situation was a tragic soap opera :(

    This song was released in 1990. The original song was recorded back in 1979 by Dobie Gray with different lyrics. The article says that this is the story of a woman who sets to seduce a hitchhiker to become pregnant because the man in her life was infertile. I remember hearing about this sort of thing happening a lot back in that time frame. I think it was most likely because most people didn’t have the money for fertility treatments. This was a great reaction, India! All of your reactions are. I know that I don’t leave many comments though this one was a bit shocking to me when I first heard it in 1990.

    Singer Ann Wilson commented on the band's dislike for the song, stating, "Actually we had sworn off it because it kind of stood for everything we wanted to get away from. It was a song by "Mutt" Lange, who we liked, and it was originally written for Don Henley, but there was a lot of pressure on us to do the song at the time."[4] Ann Wilson has made a number of comments on her dislike for the song, calling the song's message "hideous" in an interview with Dan Rather kzread.info/dash/bejne/lW1lm8yFltTfodY.html and
