This Pride Month has been a special one for me. "Chosen Family" has challenged me and been something I've been very proud to share. There was no better way to celebrate the end of the series or Pride Month, than with you guys - so I wanted to collect your own Chosen Family stories (and maybe surprise you as well :) )

I'm not part of the LGBTQ community since I like the opposite sex. But I believe that everyone should have the right to love who they want, without being judged. It takes a lot of courage just to come out, and I applaud each and everyone of you for doing that. I don't know what that's like, but I can tell it wasn't easy. Each and everyone of you are special, and should be treated like that. Don't let anyone tell you who you can or can't be. I love all of you guys just he way you are!!❤️

I have known since I was in 2nd grde that I was a lesbian, which was really hard since my dad has been slightly homophobic my whole life. You have inspired me to come out to my patents and this heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders and made me a happier person. Thank you for being you and showing LGBTQ+ youth that it is okay to be who they are.❤ P.S. I am a HUGE fan. You are my queen. I love you so much! What the... Oh my god Tyler Oakley liked my post. When I was at VidCon I got in line for my meet and greet and I saw Tyler Oakley doing a meet and greet right next to me. After I went and asked the person running the meet and greet hall thing if I could switch my meet and greet just to meet Tyler. They told me to go wait in the back so I did. I waited for 2 in a half hours in the back and finally they said okay get in line. I was 2 people away from meeting Tyler and I was sooo happy. Then I realized my wristband said line 3 instead of 4 (the line Tyler was doing his meet and greet at) so I went and told the lady and she said oh yea sorry you can't meet Tyler.😫😭after she told me that I ran to the bathroom and started crying. I was messed up the rest of VidCon and every time I heard someone say his name I would just start crying. And Tyler I am so proud of you. You touch so many people hearts. And I thank you so much everyday for doing so.

So for most of my life I've gone by mainstream and never questioned things. I've just been what other people want me to be and never looked into what I am. Recently I've met a group of friends and a certain person that made me realize who I am. I AM BISEXUAL! That's crazy to say but I am. I just recently told my mom and my best friend who I didn't think were gonna take it very well who surprisingly took it very well. Thank you Tyler for all you do and being an inspiration to everyone!

Tyler you are my hero. I came out because of you. I started questioning if I was bi when I was in the 7th grade, and it was so late because everyone I loved told me that gay was bad, so I thought gay was bad. An event happened at my school that involved face painting, and I wanted a rainbow on my wrist 1. Because it was like a beacon of hope for me since I self harmed on that wrist before and 2. That was how I wanted to come out. I asked for the rainbow and the people painting said "you know that's gay right?" And my heart broke. I walked away and ended up crying. One of my friends found me and marched me over to that face paint stand and gave the people the meanest glare then sat right down and got a rainbow on their wrist. I went right after, confidence boosted. As I told more and more friends about the story, the more mad people got. Some even went to go get a rainbow on their wrist too to support me. So now I have a picture of about 6 girls including me with rainbows on their wrist and that's the photo I used to come out. Shortly after I told my parents, and they said they still loved me but hated what I was doing. Since I said I was bi I wasn't allowed to have anyone over or have any sleepovers Until they thought the "phase" was over. My dad even saw the picture of rainbow wrists I had posted along with the major caption I had saying I was bi and made me delete it because he thought that it would hinder my life and my job choices. That also broke me so as of now I'm obviously still bi but I'm not out to my parents or family because they think I'm over it. Through all this A friend of mine recommended your videos and after watching one I couldn't stop. You were the first youtuber I fell in love with and I love to see how much you've grown in the past couple of years. You were my inspiration for coming out. You were just so yourself all the time and I wanted to be that. And honestly I'm still questioning. I know I like both male and female but I don't know if I like them sexually or not. I might be asexual. Who knows honestly. I'm queer and I'm proud. Just know that you make my day. Don't ever stop being you. Through all the phases of my life your videos have been there. Thank you for being so courageous and putting yourself out there when it wasn't necessarily "cool" to do so, because it influenced me and so many others. There's this story called the starfish story. You can look up the entire story for yourself but this boy walks down a beach every morning and sees hundreds of starfish washed up on the shore, about to die. The boy starts to pick up as many starfish as he can and throwing them back into the water. He obviously can't get them all because there's hundreds but that's what he does every morning. An old man sees this boy do this every morning and finally goes up to ask him "why are you doing this? You can't save them all. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter" and the boy looks up at the man, throws the starfish that was in his hand in the ocean, points to the direction he threw it and said "it mattered to that one". Tyler you have so many starfish that follow you. And you try to influence and help as many as you can, but can't get to all of them. Just know from all of us supporters we thank you for trying. Because the small things you do make a big impact. I was one of those starfish you saved. And it mattered and still matters to me. So much. Thank you Tyler and I love you, keep saving starfish ❤️❤️❤️

omg your story brought me to tears. I'm not out as bi yet, and my parents are not the most excepting to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community. I'm afraid they will have the same reactions as your parents. But anyways your story was inspirational to me and I loved the starfish story.

yeah i totally understand. but i can tell you that coming out is like the biggest weight being lifted off your shoulders. we're both in the same boat with our parents, but if you haven't already, you can tell close friends and people you trust. that's what i did and it literally boosted my confidence so much because i didn't feel like i had to hide as much anymore. anyways its a great feeling and im glad you shared with me. and oh my gosh, its crazy to think a small girl like me can have an impact on people but im so glad it was an inspiration to you. thats why i posted it, not to get attention, but so people can know their not alone. i didnt mean to make you cry thoughhhhhhhhh but thank you so much for telling me a piece of your story and dont ever stop being you. youre amazing. and yes i love that starfish story so much i have it posted and written everywhere to remind me that the things i can do make an impact. anyways thank you so much

I'm crying solely because I discovered I was bisexual when I was 10 years old, but I came out when I was 12. My story begins when I turned 11. I had so many fights with my parents, and that lead to me finding out I had depression. I atempted suicide once, but failed. Mostly because I had depression in an uncommon religion, but also because I was a woman. I was bisexual in an extremely homophobic upbringing, and I was really chubby. All of this together made me feel like a speck on the face of the Earth. I did come out to my parents. My mom said that it was "just a phase." My dad said I could love whoever I wanted, but I felt like it was forced. I mean, I'm Indian for God's sake! not only do I have my partner chosen for me, I can't even have the partner I want. This lead me to think, "If I was a boy, would my life be any different?" I'm currently questioning who, or what, I am, or will be. I like to come onto the internet and speak out because nobody can personally come up and slap me in the face. I can express who I am, anonymously. Thank you, Internet.

I don't care if no one will see this but I just wanna thank you Tyler because you made me realize that it's okay to be myself and to be proud of who I am. I knew from a young age that I was bisexual and in January I decided to tell my parents. They were so supportive just like everyone I've talked to in the community and the supporters. Some people in my family I'm still scared to tell because I already know there answer but watching people like Tyler make me feel okay with who I am even if some people in my family don't get who I really am because I know who I am on the inside. If I could tell Tyler anything it would be thank you for making me realize that it is okay to be different and to be proud of myself even if others don't except you for who you are, there are others in this world that still love you no matter. So thank you Tyler❤️

Hey Tyler! I know I'm a little late but I think it would be really important to talk about gray and demisexuals, because I have so many friends that identify as gray/demi that don't have any representation or resources out there, and it would be lovely to break the stigma and have content informing and affirming them! I myself am pan and a demigirl, and I think that non-binary genders need to be brought up more!

Wow Tyler was one of the first youtubers I ever started watching all the way back in elementary school. I had been sheltered my whole life and he was the first gay person I had ever heard of. I didn't even know that it was a thing. I was lead to resource after resource because of tyler and now I have realized I am part of this huge community of amazing people. I am planning to come out to my homophobic family on coming out day this year and I am terrified but Tyler always makes me feel safe and valid. Its like the time before Tyler introduced me to this whole community life was black and white and now life is full of color. Thank you tyler:) I love you.

no Tyler why did it have to end??!! Something i would like for you to talk about is how (at least in my city) there isnt many places for lgbtq+ youth to hang out and get to meet people. For example for adults there are bars but we cant go in there bc its 21+. Another thing on my mind is that i've always wanted to see drag performances and other similar stuff but they are always in 21+ bars. This frustrates me because im just like i dont want to go for the drinks i want to go for the performance, music, people, etc. Anyways thanks to anyone who read my thoughts
