Health Insurance for S Corporations | WCG Inc. | Jason Watson, CPA

Jason Watson, CPA, of WCG Inc. (formerly the Watson CPA Group) reviews how you can leverage the cost of self-employed health insurance when computing your reasonable salary as an S Corp shareholder. Health insurance costs continue to rise faster than inflation, but at least you can exploit the tax savings behind the costs.
This material is based on content from our website and our book, Taxpayer’s Comprehensive Guide to LLCs and S Corps.

So in 2118 the W-2 sent to the employee box 14 was "Other" and you were supposed to report health insurance reimbursement in that box. In 2019 there is no "Other" box. Where do you report this reimbursement on the W-2?

Thanks for your comment! It appears to us that no changes have been made to box 14 on the 2019 W-2 form. You can find a copy of the form on the IRS website.

Hi Zenny! Great question! There are multiple factors: what state you're in is the biggest one, followed by if you need employees to qualify to shop on the exchange. Checking with an insurance broker is your safest bet, they'll give you all your options! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for your interest in our videos, Zenny! To answer your question, we CPAs don't sell insurance or work with individual insurance companies, which is why we cannot make a recommendation to you regarding specific insurance provider rates. An insurance broker is your best bet to help you figure out what insurance company offers the best option for you.
