I will keep my fingers crossed and I hope Headrush will send it to you for review. If you receive the unit, please include also review of the vocal side of the unit, actually the vocal processor is the only reason why I am interested in the unit since I own already FM9 which is good enough for me. But to have modeler and vocal processor in one unit, that is something I would love to have. Thank you so much for all great reviews.

Great in-depth comparison as alway, Leo. Had the first Headrush, sold it, had the GE 250, sold it, bought the Ampero 6 months ago and am using it for band recordings (in addition to a Bogner Atma with Torpedo cab) and live gigs. So far the best Soldano and Bogner emulations of the three units mentioned. Keep up the good work!

Thank you!!! If you are referring at the arpeggios at the beginning of the solo...I was oblidged to make them as clean as possibile, as I'm using an edge of breack up tone...that does not forgive errors...

Thank you, this is really a great compliment...super appreciated!! I do agree...the computer app is a must have! As regards XLR, let me just add that the MX5 has TRS balanced out, therefore you can buy a "conversion" jack...I mean a TRS to XLR connector. Thank you once more!

Some great playing on that intro song. I'm picking my MX5 up today. I purchased this box for 3 main reasons ... the stereo effects loop ... no editor (I don't want one.) and it's dual amp and cab capability. The small size is also a plus for me. Headrush needs to offer more effects for these units and it does not seem right that the euro price is so much higher. I'm anxious to see what sounds I can get out it. My last floor board was a Boss GT6. Thanks for a great review.

Wow…. Fantastic playing, Leo! I owned the Headrush Gigboard previously but ended up selling it due to the size and lack of a built in expression pedal. I’ve always been a fan of the tones I was able to get from Headrush (especially the Marshall tones) and could easily make it sound like my Plexi->Torpedo rig with similar settings. There is also an organic ‘feel’ I appreciated from Headrush on it’s touch sensitivity. Overall…. A great time to be a guitarist!!!! Looking forward to hearing how this compares to the MG-30. Thanks for all you do, Leo. Stay safe!

Great review and awesome playing! As far as I know 24-bit formats have a dynamic range of around 144 - 150 dB in general.

I would add that, as far as I know, the dynamic range is not influenced only by the bit rate, but it depend also by the quality of the capacitors, resistors, etc, I mean the electronic components used in the signal chain. And for instance I haver rarely seen dynamic ranges above 120 db even with devices using 24 bts or also 32 bits. Thank you for your message!

Great overview and demo song. I love the small form factor, but never liked the Headrush tones. I still am glad I purchased my POD Go. Can't wait to hear your next few videos comparing the MX5 with its main competitors. My other question would be, why would anyone buy the full-fat Headrush boards when you get the same tones and functionality in this small unit for $400US? God bless and shred on 👍😎🎸

@@jcoulter43 Some of the presets I’ve bought have IR’s, which you can use in any preset. There’s different companies that offer some free ones-Tone Junkie, Yorkville, etc.

@@tarheeltone Yeah, I've scoured the internet and downloaded most if not all the free IR's. Some are really good, some not so much. I may buy a few to try them out. I just don't want to get in that constant chase for the "best IR" and waste a bunch of money.

Oh Leo stop! I couldnt concentrate on the intro sounds because my jaw hit the floor with your wonderful playing! :-) Really, really inspiring! Makes an old rocker like me happy/inspired to practice and improve my technique, even if I just make a small improvement. Every bit helps :-) I was thinking 'Uh Oh! I might have to send my MG30 back." Stereo sends/returns, small form factor, touch screen - check. Price, eh I could live with E400... but no computer app is a deal breaker for me. I think Im happy to learn my MG30 more in-depth and really get the best out of it. Im going to try my own presets this weekend, with your I.R. pack of course :-) Thank you again!

I think they have an app for IOS just not for ANDROID just yet, but HEADRUSH has stated that it is in the works for future updates. QUALITY ISsuperb, and i feel that they are QUICKLY becoming a STRONG INDUSTRY CONTENDOR with these type of effects and processing units, plus Looping types as well. good video Leo as usual man... I think this unit actually sounds better than other Headrush models I've heard in other videos. The overall design and form factor seems pretty good, but not having a computer App would be a deal breaker if I was in the market for a Modeler. I'm happy with my HX Stomp. The most impressive thing in this video were your arpeggios! Hope you do a video lesson on them, and how you build up such speed. On a different topic, have you seen any of the recent videos demoing the new Harmony H600 series of Amps? I think they could be the best sounding non-high gain Amps I've ever heard. If you're interested, I would suggest watching the one on "60 Cycle Hum" as it goes into the most detail and best demonstrates the variety of tones available. Thanks

Hi, thank you....These arpeggios are very similar to the ones I did in my KZread Shorts and are something I have practiced a lot during my holidays...Yes, I should do a video about them...I have to finish some videos I have in the queue and then I will do also that one... Well, I don't know...sometimes I start playing guitar and an idea come out, sometimes I imagine the music in my mind, sometimes a sound inspires me...sometimes I dream the music, sometimes I want to compose something and I play until an idea comes out... There is not a specific procedure...but I can tell you that I have hundreds and hundreds of songs ideas in my computer waiting to become an actual song...I would need a second life to develop them all....😊. HI, thank you, I'm happy that you like the videos!! As far as I know, the HeadRush upgrades are pretty often related to new amps or effects and quite rarely to modelling algorithms improvements. Confermo con quanto detto da te nella parte finale del video: avevo una Gigboard che ho venduto a mio malincuore due anni fa, perché purtroppo era diventata inutilizzata preferendo Kemper durante il lockdown, ed i suoni che ho sentito qui sopra sono gli stessi + il prezzo è sicuramente troppo alto (al momento siamo ancora a 499€) quindi se scenderà sui 450 penso sia un buon acquisto viste le potenzialità che offre a livello di routing (sia interno con signal chain serial/parall sia con FX LOOP) e il pedale di espressione integrato, con la qualità di Headrush che convince con i suoi suoni. Temo sia difficile se non impossibile che vada ad abbassarsi ancora per aggirarsi sui 400€: lì sarebbe davvero il best buy, ma mai dire mai visto che all'inizio l'avevano messa a listino sui 599€.

Hey! Great review again. Thanks. I would call this processor semi-professional. It is good for home practice, rehearsals and small concerts. For example, in a club or bar. For ease of control, the ability to connect with external devices, weight and dimensions The device is comparable to its main competitors. The sound is also on par with the competition. Perhaps individual presets will be more lively, or brighter. But clear sound cannot be called outstanding. At the same time, there is no useful drum machine and software for the computer. I am using the more compact HOTON AMPERO ONE. Perhaps in a direct comparison in sound, it is slightly inferior to the HEADRUCH MX5. As well as, if possible, commutation. But it has everything you need, a durable all-metal body, compactness and a lower price. The lack of a drum machine can be compensated for by connecting a smartphone. But then, surprise me with the sound quality. And I can explain to myself why I have to add another 150 euros to the price of my processor. And do not look towards Line6 products. Good luck.

Hey Leo, I love your videos...they're very informative and entertaining. Can the Mooer GE-250 capture pedals? I know that when it was released it was only able to capture amps, but I'm wondering if there was an update that allows it to capture pedals as well like the GE-300 can...

Nice one great review and video... and playing! Would we have to use Y cables ( 1 x stereo TRS to 2 x mono jacks) to take advantage of the stereo FXs Loop? Awesome backing track too! Did you program the drums using Superior Drummer 3? Thanks again, love your videos man! :)

Yet another great review and playing. Have been considering the NUX MG 30 for some time now as a budget effects modeler. Would be curious to know your thoughts as to whether or not the cab simulations and effects sound good for a bedroom guitar player? I don't expect it to sound as good as an expensive amp with expensive pedals, but if it can sound decent and give a good approximation at low volume I'm quite interested.

First of all thanks for this great review. The most unbiased I saw so far. Here is my "problem". I want to resume guitar after 20 years of inactivity... mostly to play blues-rock (SRV) & Funk music... so I need pretty good clean slighly crunchy sounds... not ultra distorted ones.... I want also something light with one expression pedal to play mostly live... Between all model your compared with the MX5, which one you would select ? (more or less in the same price segment)...

Hi, these modelers are designed to be used in any genres of music, so each modeler could be ok. On the other hand I would suggest you to check out the amps provided by each modeler, to be sure that the one you are searching for is available. The other suggestion is to evaluate the features of each modeler, I mean if you need stereo fx loop or midi in, the MX5 could be the right one. If you need more foot switches, then you may prefer the GE 250 or the POD GO. Thank you for your message!

I agree with your 2cents thoughts. Why would headrush release this with the same amps as from 5 yrs ago? and effects? Which they used from long ago in the 11r(just "tweaked"? Hard pass for me even though the hardware is cool.

Great video. I really like what I've seen. I could care less about the computer app as I hate using the computer to make setting changes. I have yet to hear anyone tell me if this has the same processor as the larger unit. Maybe you said this and I missed it, but if it has the same power that's also a huge selling point to me. I wish someone would add some pitch shifting or more accurately harmonizer lime the Eventide stuff in these units. I guess I'll have to get an eventide pedal and add it in the loop to get that Steve Vai crossroads tone or EVH stuff. I only use a few tones and will only use 3 to 6 amps at the most as well as just a few cans and mics, so they all work for me. My main reason for using these is because I'm 60 years old and tired. 🤣 .. Plus, I only gig a few times a year at very small places and they all almost require you go direct or use their backline amp which may suck. So these things, modelers are the best thing since sliced bread. Technology rocks and man I would have given anything for this gear when I was learning. Back in the late 70s and early 80s. Thank you, I'm really happy that you like the video!!! Yes, this units are really practical compact and with a lot of functionalities...you can make great music with any of the modern modelers. The processor of the MX5 should be the same of its bigger brother (not sure), nevertheless the signal chain possibilities and the tone of the MX 5, so far, for me are the some of its bigger brother. Hi, in terms of tone and signal chain possibilities there are exactly the same. Obviously the Gigboard and the Pedalboard are bigger and so they have more footswitches and I/O options...but the tone is equal...maybe I will do a video about this topic. Thank you!!!
