    very nice. I have the same exact problem in my 01' Marquis, the entire headliner is intact, except for the very back 3 inches or so. I'll be doing the repair, as you've shown, tomorrow. Thanks. Most helpful, indeed.

    I believe you need to put adhesive to both headliner And roof...wait awhile till tacky..then put together and tuck with putty knife. Permatex. No stain.

    I have a tan colored headliner also and some 3M headliner glue, do you think that glue will that show through? Or should I just get the kind you are using? Thanks so much! Great vid!

    Jennifer Cullen thanks for the comment! 3M makes a great product and you should be just fine with that glue. If you want to test the color just spray a little of the glue on a scrap piece of cardboard. As long as it’s a lighter color of glue it shouldn’t show through. I hope that helped. Have a great day and good luck!

    @@vetmech4554 I didn't mean the color of the glue, but bleed through of the glue.

    What material do you use: backed with polyethylene or with polyuretane? Where do you buy material? How much per linear foot (5 ft width)

    Don't you have to remove the foam material first?

  • @vetmech4554

    @vetmech4554

    Not necessary for this type of quick fix. If you’re going to remove the foam because of rotting then I would just replace the entire headliner.

    bad idea. the glue is fine. it is the polyurethane foam degrading, that fails. puting glue on the old polyurethane may work for a few days, and then the poyurethane will fail again, because it turns into crumbles of sticky yukky goo.

    Thanks for your input and I am sure this is the case in some instances, but this is a good fix for most. In fact this car’s headliner is still holding up great with this repair and it’s been a few years.

    It doesn’t work for every scenario but fixes most that are just starting to sag. If it’s to far gone I completely agree. Try using a different type of adhesive and make sure it’s applied per the manufacturer’s instructions.
