Head Unit / Stereo / Deck Installation / Install (SOLDERING Connections) | AnthonyJ350

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Getting better sound and functionality starts with changing your head unit. You'll see step by step what's involved in a car stereo install / wiring up and installing an after market head unit into a vehicle. You'll want to note that this is a deck install in its simplest form. Vehicle with factory amplifiers or complex dis-assembly can create a larger challenge. If you're still unsure how to do it, it might not be a bad idea to have your local professional do it for you.

Alright, got another question. So I'm running an Alpine single din in where the cassette player is, but I want the factory head unit still there. I want the factory unit to still have 12v and accessory power, so I can see the clock when i turn the truck on. How can I mod the wiring harness to get to the Alpine, but still have accessory power and ground going to the factory head unit?

I was able to tilt the steering wheel down and drop gear shift to drive and had plenty of room without unbolting the column. Now as far as undoing the old unit damn that was frustrating just really tight space and the piece under the dash that the tape deck and control head plugs into needed unbolting to remove completely. I reused the factory wires to hook the new unit up which worked fine but they were short and hard to get to .I didn't have any adapters or anything to plug into them so I had to splice every one .in the end after a few bashed fingers and little cussing walla ,the new unit fit and sounds great..

When buying the radio and parts, go to Crutchfield. You get the box, wires, antenna adapter, and the center unit for free if you spend $119 on a radio. Then free three day shipping. It saves money, and allows you to spend more on a radio, vs. a cheaper one, then buying everything else.

I guess you could get a marine controller used to be mounted in the back of a boat which would control the deck to take up the old space. It's not really that much further over though. I'd save the $150 accessory and just reach over the 6 inches.

Since the wires weren’t wrapped in electrical tape and just left to be after being cut, I assume one touched another or metal somewhere. I wrapped all the loose wiring and replaced the fuse so I’m good now. I’m not an expert in all that so it kind of perplexed me but I thought let me check the fuses.

AnthonyJ350 Sure, but you said to check to make sure it works after you said to finalize the installation. It's obvious you knew exactly what you were doing, simply by observing the speed at which you assembled the harness piece. I was just pointing out that for educational purposes, it would be optimal to tell a first-timer that they should turn the unit on before screwing it in and reassembling the trim in case they did something incorrectly prior to the finalization of the install. If someone hadn't thought to do that otherwise, it could save a lot of frustration and potentially even a new car modder, as I would imagine this is a pretty common first "mod" for some people.

hello, I'm writing to ya because my trucks(1990 chevy c1500) stereo units are missing, the three of them. as much as I know there was three owners before me. The first one I believe was a younger guy. Well I believe he is the one who got rid of the stereo units and messed with the wiring. I'm writing to ya because I bought the harness that goes to the top of the original head unit. and it's has more wires than I believe the original did. The new one has 13 wires(rear left and right speakers, front left and right speakers, ground wire, illumination/dimmer wire, power antenna, ignition/switched, and battery/constant), but the wires that I've found that I believe belong to the original harness has 9 wires (front left speaker wires and front right speaker wires, battery constant, accessory switch, ground wire, illumination wire, and stereo dimmer wire). One question I'm asking, is that do I have to by a specific stereo unit for that harness, or something else? The other question I'm asking is, am I soposed to use the other two original wire harnesses that went to the boddom side of the original head unit? because I dont believe I have those anymore. Don't know all what the dude took out of the original stereo wires. To also tell you what wires I have connected right now are battery constant to battery constant, ground to ground, and illumination to illumination/dimmer. What I do not have hooked up right now for the old wires are the accessory switch, and dimmer wire. From the new one is ignition/switched. From those three wires I mention, which of the two old wires go to the new wire? I'm not very smart when it comes to wires, but I love to learn new things. So some help would be very most appriciated!!!
