Can you kill him with a single Flare Star if you don't have 10 of the damage buff?

Should be possible, but I doubt it is with 0 stacks of the buff (unless you're getting a dancer and potentially other people to buff you right before you queue in). Menenius has a lot more health than the other duels, so killing him in a single Flare Star is fairly tough. Most of the people I've seen attempt the cheese get him to 10-20% when the Flare Star runs out and then either limp to the finish line or die.

I did the exact same things as you, even cleaner and he was no where near did by Giga tempest. I can’t see how 10 valor is that much greater than 7

Hard to say for sure without seeing your attempt, but I wouldn't underestimate the difference 3 valor stacks make. That's 9% damage, which is quite a lot when the fight is this short. I'm also using a Deep Essence of the Ordained here, which is another 4% more damage if you were using a regular one instead. Those two combined would add up to about a ~10 second difference.

It involves hitting a striking dummy at base and waiting for the last 20 seconds to begin buffing since you are in combat there. When you apply all your in combat buffs, zone in, then flare star the boss.

@@BlessedBeJESUSCHRIST My mistake. I read it as you asking what he meant by "pre-fight buffing shenanigan's in the description". Cause that's what some people do if they have another person to dump buffs on them. I assume the only thing thats popped pre fight are the auto potions, reraise, protect, shell, bubble, and maybe food buffs.
