HE WENT FROM HOMELESS IN A VAN TO...

This is the story of Chris. When I met him he was living in a broken-down van and almost freezing to death every night. I helped him get his I.D. he found a job and then we got him a place to live.
Everything was going well until his health took a turn for the worst. He lived a fast life in his younger years in the Rock n Roll scene. It finally caught up to him. He passed away in his room warm and peacefully.
I grew very close to Chris throughout our time together. He will be missed.
Everyone contributed to getting him on his feet and keeping him there and he did everything he could to never have to live on the streets again.
I couldn't help people get off the streets or survive the elements without your support. We are making the world a better place one video at a time…

Thank you for loving my friend. I lost touch with Chris many years ago and no one knew where he was. I cried watching this. What a blessing you were to him. Thank all your donators for me! Chris was a talented musician (he ripped Rush on the drums like nobody’s business). He was a loving person and hard worker.

That's a really nice comment mate. Sorry that you lost a friend. I didn't know Chris but I was saddened to hear of his passing and especially so because his life was heading in such a positive direction. The only saving grace is that he didn't die on the streets. He died with some semblance of dignity. R.i.p Chris

Well earth is where God intended us to live, death isn’t “home”. I’m sure God sees the good in this man and he will be resurrected to live eternally on a new and paradise earth. This man is in peace now. The dead are unconscious and so cannot feel pain. “Neither work, nor reason, nor wisdom, nor knowledge, shall be in hell.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10, Douay-Rheims Version) The original words translated as “hell” in some older Bible translations (Hebrew, “Sheol”; Greek, “Hades”) basically refer to “the Grave,” that is, the common grave of mankind. The Bible shows that people in “the Grave” are in a state of nonexistence. Jesus said: “No man has ascended into heaven.” (John 3: 13) He thus showed that good people who died before him, such as Abraham, Moses, Job, and David, did not go to heaven. (Acts 2: 29, 34) Instead, they had the hope of being resurrected to life on earth. -Job 14:13- 15. God bless everyone 🙏🏻❤

Such a beautiful story of how to save a life. This man, Chris, reminded me of my brother, Mark. Things go downhill, problems pile up, if you move away from home and family, the bottom drops out, and you're on the streets. The men get into middle age and loved ones, parents and grandparents pass away. The family help is gone then, or they are too embarrassed to reach out, maybe something went wrong last time they reached out. This one really touched my heart. Thank you, Knate, for not giving up on him. Chris lived a good life in his youth, in a band, he then went into construction, but all of his tools were stolen, it happens a lot on the street. Chris was turning a bit discolored, so he had major internal health issues that were not being treated at all. Not sure how old he was, but my brother, Mark died at 51. He looked older, like Chris did, too. If anyone knows how old Chris was when he passed away, I am curious to know. Chris passed on to a better life. Sad that his beauty and kindness doesn't shine in this world anymore, his age of knowledge, and his wisdom are gone from the Earth. He is relieved of his suffering. His grandparents probably came to escort him to the beauty of the afterlife with love. I can assure you, he is at peace and very happy now. I hope his son can watch this and see that all is well with his father. . You inspired me to help a homeless person out yesterday. This video shows that we really don't know when our last day of life will be. Blessings to all who read this.

I had never in my life cried like I did after watching this video. I was thinking "If I was Chris I would tell him, if you allow me, I'll be your friend for the rest of my life". And I guess in some way I kinda am. I left my country, Venezuela, on June 26th 2023, a little bit longer than a month before, and I came to Brazil with my family. When we got here we found the kindest people, they've helped us get back on our feet, because our whole lives were in 6 bags where we kept our clothes and some money I saved while working for a year before coming to Brazil. We met some wonderful people here who helped us find an apartment, and they've helped us find winter clothes, because we come from a warm country and here in the south it gets really cold for us. They also donated food, blankets and they've taken care of us as if we were their family. I'll be forever thankful to them, and I know some day I'll be able to help people too. I'm glad Chris was able to spend his last moments knowing he was loved and that he wasn't alone, but he had friends that cared for him. Thank you changing people's lives.

Holy shit what a absolute rollercoaster of emotions. I was so sad for Chris in his van then happy for him to see how excited he was to get his ID and a room. Life was looking great for him until that sudden ending. I thought Knate just couldn't find him anymore because maybe he moved to a different place or something but my god that ending tore me apart. I've seen this video in my recommended a hand full of times but decided to finally watch it and I'm glad I did. I'm glad I got to see Chris and how awesome he was as well as Knate. Chris was gone way too soon but he left this place in a nice room that he worked hard for, not a freezing van. I also hope that he ended up reaching out to his son before his passing. Everyone is so damn proud of what you accomplished. Rest in power brother.

Drugs are the pits. I don't know with all the info out there why kids still want to get on it. Drugs ruin everything. You are a strong person to kick the habit. I wonder if you did it with the help of a program or on your own. A friend of mine kick the Heroin own his own but it was hell.

As a young man struggling with addictions I feel identified with the fact you only need a little push to move forward, I've never been homeless but I like to party a lot, and I just probably watched at my future here. So I hope get straight and be better, Knate you're a role model for me, clear example we can do better!

Hey you can do this, as someone who struggled with addiction for far to many years and is now just over five years sober I could have easily ended up like a lot of these people with being on the streets. I got lucky that I only ended up in the hospital and not the morgue and am grateful everyday for what that doctor did for me because I wouldn't be here now if it wasn't for him. You can do this, sober living isn't something that comes easy, but all of us addicts have it in us to live clean and be better people. I believe in you and I wish you all the best. Take care.

Jesus can help you, he helped me with my addictions... only one i got left is smoking cigarettes and i am praying he takes it soon... Jesus delivered me from a heroin addiction 20 yrs ago just after i accepted him as Lord of my life and not just my savior... he set me free from so much since then... pray and trust in Him and i know He can help you too 🙏

Levi.. I'm 45 now and started partying at 17.. I always worked to party and keep a roof over my head and I never was addicted nor did it seem like a issue. This went on until I turned 40 and realized that I had lived my entire adult life messed up on whatever was around and I had never dealt with the issues that led me to start using things to dull myself. At 42 I finally had enough and with the help of Jesus Christ my prayers were answered and I've been sober ever since. Using alcohol or drugs is going to lead to nowhere positive. I really hope you can see what's ahead on the path of using substances and can change it. Even if you need to use medication for a short period to help you adjust.

I went from popping pills to snorting H to injecting it into my veins in less 8 months. I put myself through precipitated withdrawals atleast 7 times but I finally realized I couldn't do it alone, so I asked my parents who had no idea what I was doing, for help. I never had to deal with being homeless (although technically speaking I was living with someone else's parents because I couldn't afford rent) I was at the VERY lowest I had ever been and had I not asked for help, without a single doubt I'd be dead by now. I might have only messed around with H for 6 month's but I was pill popping on and off for yrs, it depleted my entire life savings, helped me lose a 100k yr job and left me having to beg my parents for money then forced to live w my partners parents. Easily the lowest I have ever been in my life, I graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, owned two houses in Maryland and thought I was really living the life, in less than 2 years I was broke, living w my gf's parents, unemployed, ruined my AA credit, maxed out my cards, defaulted on my payments, forced to sell one of the houses for a total loss just to free up a little bit of cash and shooting H into my veins. I finally had enough when my account was 700.00 in the red and I was holding a pistol in my hand thinking of an excuse to end it. I came clean to my father and asked for help, I went on methadone and got a job within a week, it wasn't the one I wanted but it didn't matter, it pushed me to get my ass up and also helped me pay for my partner's treatment. I went from making 100k a year to making 15hr but I wasn't on drugs yet I was surrounded by those who were, hell my old dealer went to the same clinic and was still using while actively taking methadone. I realized that for me to retain my sobriety and give myself a chance, I needed to fully change and that started with my location. I left my significant other who was sober, in treatment and who had finally taken a job where we were living originally. So I moved from Fort Lauderdale to Maryland and I focused only on work, saving my money and helping those who saved my life. After 6 months I was able to sell my other home which had been in Baltimore, I then moved to Greenville, SC where my mother was moving and all of my family lived. I got a better job, kept saving my money and bought myself my first motorcycle to help keep me focus on a hobby. I now own two motorcycles, a car and truck Instead of pumping money into someone else's pockets I saved it and then started building myself a 16x20 cabin (still building it as we speak) on my family's property. I am now almost completely off methadone, 10mgs currently with plans of being off in the next two months. In 4 months, have tickets to take an Alaskan cruise with my mother to celebrate my successes and to enjoy some much needed time away from real world problems. My point in all of this is, if you want to change, the first part starts with being honest, honest with yourself and then honest with someone who you know will HELP you get sober and make you hold yourself accountable. The moment you're honest w yourself and another human being, then you're on the right path. I was 32? When I decided to use H and I am now 38 and a completely different person. I made a ton of mistakes, pissed away everything I worked my ass off for but I'm alive, sober and am no longer hiding my skeletons or treating myself badly because i think I deserve it. You matter to your family and friends, you have an opportunity NOW to put your life back on track, you can have ANYTHING you want if you work for it and you're honest. You have already said it out loud just by typing this statement, you see EXCATLY what your future will look like if you continue down this path but unfortunately most of the time we don't have random stranger's saving us. You know what to do, you just have to do it, the hardest part is ASKING for help, then TAKING IT. But if you really want to be successful, you'll have to come clean with your family/partner/friend/whomever you have that you know will help but isn't going to enable you. You need someone who will cheer you on but also someone who is going to push yourself and hold you accountable to your choices. I wish you nothing but love and hope your realization brings you profound clarity and success. TLDR Answer is- Be honest with yourself and then someone you trust, someone who you respect and that you don't want to let down,, tell them the truth and then get your ass in treatment, no matter what happens BE HONEST. After that, My key to success is simple- Get yourself sober and then find a hobby, something you're passionate about, if you don't know what that is yet, try different things until you do, then put your restless energy and anxieties into it. You'll be glad you did.
