The little boy was rude, the barber did an excellent cut. I had one son who was picky about his hair but he would never have been rude. He would have just sat disappointed and said it was okay. Both are not good responses though. imagine being proud about your kid not having the confidence or strength to speak up and say he’s unhappy with something like a haircut. How will he ever be able to speak up about more serious issues if no one is encouraging him to out of fear of it being seen as rude? Obviously there’s an ability to speak up without being mean or rude something this child hasn’t mastered yet but in a sense he’s leaps and bounds ahead of the child who can’t even find their voice to complain. He can most likely be taught to speak his mind without being rude since he is still so Young. Let’s not crucify a child over one reaction. Let’s also remember kids and even some adults are sometimes very attached to their hair and changing the hair style can be very positive or negative experience because for some of us hair is an integral part of how we identify.

There is no fear of confrontation I just simply don’t want to make him feel bad and I take accountability for the lack of communication of the lack of vetting that took place in the search for a barber. The boy doesn’t restrict his reaction because his trust has been broken. If the boy couldn’t get the exact look then he should have clarified that as his barber before hand and he should know to never experiment on anyones head.

The fact that the camera zooms into the kids phone and the camera angles on the kid, would tell everyone watching that this is an act, yet not one person noticed it. Me thinks the younger generations lack a lot of intelligence. Man, I was told by my mother in the 1980s not to believe everything on TV, and 40 years later we have a platform where literally anyone can make and upload videos, and the younger folks think that the really obviously fake stuff is real. @gaysy1st no one has asked for a perm since the early 90's but yes if he went to a fancy expensive place they would have offered options to make his hair curly or wavey but will be a much more expensive haircut I doubt the kid was willing to pay. Barbers don't really do perms either

Only if that’s the service that he asked for in the consultation.. perms take a while to do. Having said that, even if he would have given him a perm, that kids hair still wouldn’t have looked exactly like the picture. The kid has fine, straight hair with a defined natural part.. which is exactly why the barber styled his hair like that. We usually don’t want to fight with natural parts bc they usually end up going right back even if you’re able to style it right. His hair isn’t thick enough to hide that part and make it look like that picture.

That young boy should apologise for being so rude.

The haircut was spot on he just don’t have the type of hair to actually make the cut work the way he wants. Nice job Barber 💈

In this situation yes. But there are multiple reasons to get at your barber that are justified. Maybe the barber should say it's not possible before starting. Also if my barber fucks up and it isnt my fault im definitely getting at him and the last thing that bothers me is when my barber cant quit congregating during my cut would get him checked. ​@@yeLpy_Maybe the kid is too young to understand it, but the parent surely didn't think the barber was going to be able to 100% produce that look on a kid with completely different color, texture, and thickness. *I* would explain that to my child before, and not have allowed that bad behavior to go unchecked. My oldest is autistic and helping them have realistic expectations makes things easier and more pleasant for everyone.

I used to be a hair stylist for years and a lot of people brought in photos or pics on their phone of what they wanted. So I had to have a lot of conversations about unrealistic expectations. Which is exactly what happened here except the barber did everything right! He did an immaculate job on the cut fade & style. I would’ve let the kid know that I could do the style, but since his hair is straight that it won’t look just like the gentleman in the photo. Then I’d show him the same cut on a person with straight hair and educate him on perms and upkeep and prices. Before I do anything I would make sure he had a parent there so we’re all on the same page. And when I’m done, I’d go get the parent so we can all go over the style together and make sure we are all good. It’s tricky with preteens and teens. But that kid’s attitude and rudeness was uncalled for.

I need a stylist like you. I'm a 33 year old woman. I have only been happy with one haircut in my life. It was a straight blunted cut, no layers. I just don't trust stylists now. I have even asked them what would be best for my hair texture and thickness, and I get crickets. I have spent hundreds trying to find someone to help me and educate me. I have given up.
