In Cantonese, when your parents think you are a disappointment, there is an idiom: "I'd rather give birth to BBQ Pork than you". I think that might be partly why he chose to turned them into BBQ Pork after murdering his parents.

Bipolar plays a major part in the thought process prior to a murder. Don’t judge me, but I’ve got bipolar 1 which is not the manic state but the erratic thought state. When my mood swings were bad I used to honestly think and consider hurting people physically and mentally. To see them completely defeated. Watching these kind of videos and documentaries on KZread is what actually made me go check with a psychiatrist why I think like this and I was then diagnosed with bipolar. I now take medication for it and for the past few months I’ve been able to think clearly and rationally. I don’t go to violence as a final decision on anything. I still find it a bit difficult to make friends and maintain relationships but I understand that I’m still recovering and will be okay one day soon. Bipolar is a long term treatment which often takes months to fully recover from and it means taking constant medication EVEN if you feel like you’re okay. Do it until your doc says you can reduce medication and eventually stop. My point here is, no matter what your condition is, do find the right treatment and take it because the longer you ignore it the more dangerous you get. If you’re reading this and seem to have constant erratic behavior please seek help and don’t be ashamed to do so. Prevention is safer than cure and I promise you things get better over time.

At the first half of the video I thought this case was about to hit me close to home because I also consider myself a failure, but then I see he's not the victim but the monster and that's when I got creeped out for thinking we are the same. My life might be full of failure but at least when I think about harming someone, it's about myself, not the people around me who I care and love. Edit: I didn't expect this much encouragement. Thank you for all the positive comments. I didn't mean it seriously when I said about harming myself. It's more like an intrusive thought I have that I think everyone has in their mind in some moments. And while it's a fact that my life is full of failures, I still got a dream I'm working hard to reach. Thanks for the positive words, you are awesome! ^^

You have people you care about and love. That already disqualifies you from being a failure. You are a decent human being, and I hope you'll find the support you need to see that there is no reason to harm yourself. You don't have to be sucessful in the eyes of others. If you can find contentment in your life without harming anyone, that's success right there.

Maybe you could read Haruki Murakami, he thought me that a small simple life is enough. To be here, is enough. He has a story about a man that makes spaghetti everyday, for a year. That's all the man does. He just focus on that, and it helps him to get by. ''When you're in the dark, the only thing you can do is sit still and let your eyes get used to the dark.'' Focus on getting by, and it will all unfold for you in time. Nothing in nature is failure.
@lordbiscuitthetossable5352

I think that's the thing. Feeling frustrated at a lack of accomplishment is natural, as we all want to succeed with the time we are given, but the difference between that and a true monster is responsibility. You hold yourself accountable, Henry meanwhile looked to divert any blame from himself and refused self reflection. Therefore you are already a much better person then he is. I wish you all the best, after all some of us bloom later then others. I wasn't able to hold down a real job until I was 27 and I've been playing catchup ever since, so it's never too late to find success.

I’m crying. When I was younger I though my parents were a “too strict” (I’m asian btw). But as I grew up, especially when I became a mom, I realized that they just want the best for me so I (and my future children) won’t suffer in the future. I realized that times get tougher and tougher each year. Now I also want the best for my daughter so she won’t suffer the way that I did. My parents weren’t being too strict. I was just being a dramatic teenager, they’re just being totally rational. BTW, my parents also wanted me to learn musical instruments and also to develop my drawing skills, so I did. And those skills actually helped me cope with depression. I draw stuff or play musical instruments when I’m feeling down to distract me from my depression. I could also use those skills to earn some extra income when needed. It’s really good to have a backup plan AND some backup skills.

So scary! Watching these kinds of videos already gave me a lot of paranoias, traumas, fears, dreads, and so on............... not only to intentionally harm an animal, thing, or human...
Wow thank you for this video it was a surprise to see this usually your day is Monday!Keep up the good work your amazing at what you do.Your voice is very soothing and calm and you give the victims a lot of respect so thank you again be safe!
I really love how you deliver all those information. Keep sharing
You're so good that I didn't even noticed that you only have a few photos in this video 😊
Glad to see my native city getting some attention on this channel! Most other true crime channels tend to recall the more famous cases like the Hello Kitty murder but there's definitely an abundance of interesting cases from around here, such as the Meat Dumpling Killer, The psycho behind the Kindergarten knife massacre, a Singaporean Mogul's body being found entombed in cement, The Two-Face Demon Constable Tsui Po-Ko, The Jars Murderer, Yip Kai-Foon the local king of thieves and the one that sticks with me the most; An old story of how a local Naval Law Enforcement chief who killed his wife on a trip to Macau in around the 1950s, he tied her to a hotel bathroom, disfigured her with acid and forced her to swallow the rest. She was found still barely clinging to life by hotel staff but did not survive long enough to do more than whisper of who the culprit was through the shock.
Yeeesssss🎉 Thank you from the bottom of my heart ... I have flu and everything hurts, but when I saw the new video it brought a smile to my face!!!! ❤❤❤
I’m not sure if this has been suggested before…but seeing as you have fans from around the world, what about doing a series based on cases from your fans hometowns? I know it’s not a new idea, but I always find it interesting when people do this. Being a true crime fan, it’s hard to find cases I haven’t heard about before. With these series, I often learn about cases that I have never heard about before. Just a thought 😘

I was just watching your last upload when i saw this videos notification, had to finish that one first lol, Thanks for the regular quality uploads!
This case reminds me of the case of Joel Guy Jr. Many simularities. Interesting video! Thank you, Coffeehouse Crime.

My first thought was Joel Guy Jr, too! But there have been a lot of cases of entitled kids in their 20's who get mad that they can't rely on their parents' money anymore so they murder them. It's crazy. I can't even imagine having that mindset. 😬
I wonder why Henry's late parents did not try to find out the reasons behind their son's successive school failures by not considering this as an alarm signal.

My thoughts are the same. He had issues socializing as a child and failing in school despite high IQ that's an alarm in my book. But most parents forget that mental health can be an issue, especially in Asian culture

For most people in Asia, mental issue is taboo, some even believe if we have a mental issue kid, parent, sibling, we are cursed
Adrian, “bravo sir” for your linguistic skills. You nail the names of all these international characters. 👏
At about 2:23... my mind got derailed with the slip of "the year 2047". That being said, I absolutely love hearing your voice and your content.
As a mild correction -- Xianggang Tebie Xingzhengqu is in Mandarin and is what mainland Chinese people would call Hong Kong. Hong Kong is known locally in Cantonese (the local language) as, well, Hong Kong. You could write it as Heung gung or something to possibly get closer to how Cantonese sounds, but it's definitely way closer to Hong Kong than Xianggang.

Also, it didn't become separated from China in 1997, quite the opposite -- Hong Kong was a British territory until 1997, at which point China assumed administrative control. The "one country, two systems" refers to how Hong Kong was allowed to keep many of its existing laws and policies rather than being 100% legally identical to a city of China.
